Maybe I'm too old, but I'm not getting the point of tweeting when there's a message board and a chat channel. Is that where I'm supposed to go to tell people that I'm afk and tweeting from my phone while I pee?
No.
It's certainly not for everyone.
If we had more social events as a community, it would probably be a lot more useful. ;)
Not a user but trying to grasp the idea:
- you update (manually?) on your twitter page when there is a new article/front page news
- then you click the link on the twitter page and you are send to the respective news article
that's correct?
its an easy way to update multiple sights.
I tweet what i'm doing. It updates my Facebook, yahoo and various accounts aswell as sharing photos and locations
You can also follow some of your favorite people or shows/sites.
This will keep you in the loop of whats going on.
Yes. It sounds funny, but let me put it into some context:
My personal twitter account follows quite a few various other accounts. Such as Adam from Mythbusters, The Penny Arcade guys, the PvPOnline guys, and many writers. Look at my twitter "feed" I can see what all they're all sharing in 1 quick location. Think of it as multiplayer RSS. I even use a client on my phone to control 3 twitter accounts. I multibox twitter LIKE A BOSS.
All right I guess that makes sense. Maybe not so much for multiboxers, but probably more for other gamers / wow players who have a 'summary'. Or for a boxer who is retired and can have a quick scan what's going on.
On a sidenote - and not willing to derail the thread which I'm most likely doing - I find myself almost reading more about the game than I actually play it, just due to the share volume of sites/blogs to keep track off. Just did some quick math and I was quite surprised:
3 blogs, db forum, our guild forum, realm forum, ptr forum, joystick, mmo, eu shaman forum, skill-capped forum, EJ & totemspot. That is quite a bunch of stuff to keep track off when I list it all together. I can see the advantage of twitter if it would summarize stuff for me.
I tweet'd that I was taking the biggest shit of my life atm....instantly gained 3 followers. I lost all faith in humanity and have since closed my twitter account. To this day my mom gives me a weird look when I see her, but she says she is too old for twitter.
That instantly reminded me about this:

Yes, it's worth the read. Short quote so you get the idea:
"I had been downloading music yesterday evening. Led Zeppelin, REO Speedwagon, Flock of Seagulls, things like that. Then I realized that it'd be a funny joke to play on people if I were to change "Keep on Rolling" to "Hot Lesbian Sex". I watched as within minutes this file got 50 downloads. I was astounded.
Then the Tom got an idea.
An awful idea.
The Tom got a wonderful awful idea."
How exactly is asking that someone explain the point of twitter for an already "as live as you want to be" community "hating"? Now, if I said twitter is for attention-starved morons with no self-esteem who can't put together a coherent thought, that would be hating. :p
rofl, I would, but I'm not the right religion for it.
