[EVE] Combined Technologies and Research

Announcing the new multiboxing corporation on the block, Combined Technologies and Research. The corp is being built for the primary purpose of not only grouping together multiboxers, but advancing multiboxing in the game to the highest levels of play. The secondary purpose of the corp is to unite under one flag and reach out deep into the stars into what we hope becomes a profitable excursion into wormhole space or barring that, nosec space. This corp is in no way intended as a slight to any existing multiboxer corps (and indeed my old corp that had 3 boxers in it is being dismantled as we speak for the move into this new united corporation).

Some of our short term goals include:

Boxer Extravaganza! - frigate fleets with T1 modules controlled by boxers clash in a battle of winner takes the title "Boxer Lord"! A learning setting where we can share tactics and ideas that allow the boxer to thrive in a world where you are either quick or dead. Optimize boxing in eve pvp instead of optimizing boxing in eve mining!

Large Scale Mining Operations - the price of trit is great right now! Join your fellow boxers and turning an asteroid belt into a no man's land and make some money while you do it.

Wormhole Prep - never been in a wormhole? Follow a prober in and see what a wormhole existence will actually look like. Wormholes are being scouted on a daily basis, and while many are empty during scouting times others are quite active with folks who'd love to kill you. Be warned...here there be dragons.

Bring Your Own Op - Got something you want to do that others in the corp might find fun or profitable? Form an op up and go for it! Future plans for wormhole living will actually reward Operation Commanders for their leadership by granting them a bonus based on the operation's isk total. Current mining ops in hi-sec will do the same (speak to Morganti for a duty explanation of Op Commanders before jetting off though!).


The corp is currently running with only a 5% tax (half that of newbie corporations) in an attempt to build up capital for POS's and fuel, and this fund will also be part of supplying cheap ships and modules for Boxer Extravaganza. Solo players are welcome, but be aware the corp is focused on boxing and improving boxing in general, so solo players while having a part to play would not be able to fight in Boxer-Ex.

Interesting. Do we need two multiboxing corps?

Multiple people had corps with high faction standings that they didn't want to part with, so in an effort to be fair to all a few of us just said why not start fresh.

This corp sounds nice, it has multiple directions. I would feel bad joining it because I was going to join Robin's.

You have multiple alts, right? These two corps aren't mutually exclusive. :p

Well, truth be told, the 'offical' multiboxing corp isn't doing so well so I'd be willing to take it down or alter it's purpose - what do people think? Having two corps, even if they're for different purposes, does dilute things a bit and Morganti is much more enthusiastic than I am so I'm not going to feel slighted or upset to take down Cybernetic Legion.

Don't do it! not after i've finally gotten in a corp that doesn't get war decked which means i don't get pvp'd into oblivion

I've thought of a compromise solution that should make Cybernetic Legion a bit more useful - provided people think it's a good idea.

Cybernetic Legion can be used for external support operations to CTR. e.g. For ice miners and PI specialists who want to supply CTR with POS fuel and other goodies but don't want to risk venturing into w-space, which is a risky place. For freighters and industrials who do supply runs, researchers, etc, etc. It would also reduce the number of people under threat if CTR was wardecced by someone wanting to take over the wormhole.

It could also be used to trade back and forth and as a home for chars who want to participate but not as part of CTR. As part of this I think that launching a POS (or several) for Cybernetic Legion is going to be pretty useful. Right now the corp does not have the standings to do that so we'd have to work out a way to get it done. Having some high standing members join for a week would do the job or getting Dr Sirius' standing boosted via mission running fleeting would work as well.

We can fire up an alliance if desired and people can join their corps if they want to - there's quite a cost associated with this but it would make operating together somewhat easier. Dr Sirius has the skills trained to form an alliance.

Scondly, sorry for getting this thread rather off topic, on the original topic what sorts and numbers of pilots/skills are desired? Any idea of how many toons will be necessary and how many will be too much?

I'll join and contribute taxes or whatever if you guys want... not looking to do any WH stuff really but am willing to support the MB cause.

If we get decced I will be leaving though.

I think it's a great idea to have CL as hisec support for CTR, and CTR as a wormhole alternative to those in CL who want some excitement! I would have to disagree on the point of putting them in alliance together though, as that would make any wardecs potentially a problem for both corps. I wouldn't want a wormhole altercation to turn into a problem for CL in hisec.

As for numbers and types of skills needed, the numbers are anywhere from 1 to 5 I would say to start (unless you're bringing in a guy strictly for PI). You have to be able to run for cover in a moments notice, and the more ships you have out of a POS shield the more you have to stress about warping to safety before you get jumped (and also the more potential for personal loss of equipment). If you've never done anything in a wormhole or 0.0 before, bring out 3 max.

As for skills, probing is the number one REQUIRED skill for wormhole. If you get caught in a hole without the ability to find your way out then you're pretty much screwed and will have to self destruct to get out. Secondly, don't underestimate the sleeper rats. These are 0.0 rats on crack, steroids, and with omni tanks and omni damage. They all armor tank, ewar, neut, and will eat you alive if you get in over your head. Bring ships (and the skills to fit them) that you can afford to lose, but that can also survive the damage (passive shielded drakes to start). Third, is the regular stuff: mining, gas mining, hacking, and archeology. Bring this in at any level you want, but the ability to mine in some form or fashion would be the minimum I would say.

For the minimum numbers required, it really is easier to outgrow a wormhole than it is to have too small of a team for one. Once you do a site it may takes days or a week or more to spawn another, so the faster you do things the faster they run out. If you're interested in wormhole life just to check it out bring in one or two guys and live for a week and see if you think you need more or the hole can support more. Since not everyone will be on at the same time sometimes you may need multiple toons to solo a combat site or you may find yourself without something to solo. That's just one of those things you gotta figure out on the fly.

While I'm too unreliable to participate in the WH stuff at the moment, I'd be happy to join CL to support y'all via taxes. Great idea, that.

Regarding the alliance/wardec thing, can someone gimme a quickie synopsis of what that means for hisec missioners?

[edit] Nevermind. Looks like wardec means free-for-all even in hisec space. That sucks. :p On a related note, is there a warning that pops up when a wardec happens or do you have to manually keep checking the corp panel?

You get 24 hours notice if your corp/alliance gets wardec'ed. Basically if you're a hisec corp that can't be bothered with fighting just have everyone leave the corp when you get wardec'ed.

Everyone in the Corp gets a mail from CONCORD (or another 'official' corp) announcing that war will start in 24 hours.

Then everyone gets another mail 24 hours later saying that war has started.

It also takes 24 hours for a war to stop, with a simialr set of mails.

It costs a million ISK a week to wardec someone so people don't usually do it unless they're after something - a POS position, mining rights, shits and giggles, etc

One of the reasons I quite EVE the first time was because I'd joined a corp that had a permanent war with another and I got ganked moving some stuff around in an undustrial in hisec - biggest loss was a set of +5 implants - I'd only been playing for a few months so I couldn't replace them and the corp was highly unsympathetic.

CTR introduces Project Alpha 112:

We have set up a POS in a class 1 static highsec wormhole. As our Alpha project this will be a "training wheels" expedition with definite longterm potential for PI (PI is awesome in wormholes for those that don't know). Our POS is basically unkillable as long as it is fueled because c1 entrances don't allow anything larger than a battlecruiser (20mil mass) through. Currently there are a slew of sites available for members to do as well as some offlined POS killing to be done in the system. As you can imagine location and specific info is on a need to know basis only for members of CTR, but if you want to get some wormhole experience this is a great time to do it. This project will also give us a better idea of interest for wormhole expeditions in the community.

I will be bringing 4 retrievers with 4000m3 cargo space, so if we need some small things I can bring em along.....?

Are there any shuttles in the WH for quickly bringing ships in or should I bring 1 along for each toon?

Retrievers are actually perfect since you couldn't bring anything larger in mining wise. Entry hole is limited to 20,000,000kg mass ships or smaller.

Yes, you can build anything but a Titan or Mothership inside the WH.

Carriers are built in 0.4 or lower space, including wormholes. You will however not want your main carrier to be wormhole built, since they are too big to pass through most wormhole exits and are usually considered to be permanent parts of the wormhole. Carriers can also not use stargates, so there logistic issues when moving them from where you bought it to where you plan to keep/use it.

All toons in WH apart from 3, 1 still training and 2 to be accepted. But can't set my PI up as Morg forgot to give my PI toons hangar access. So now i'll just have to wait for him to get up and log in :)

I have a corp, Institute for Advanced Studies, and am looking into getting wh pi started. it is only my 9 toons and a minimally active friend in corp now, but I would be willing to help supply fuel and the occasional pew pew for friendship/wh access

Grond is setting up his PI right now, so let me take a look at how much space is left after he finishes. We're doing our best to avoid overlapping any extractors and limiting individual yields.

Hey got lost in RL for a bit, wondering what cotre's missioning and datacore access looks like? I am caldari and can do 4s for state on one of my toons, but looking for a corp to contribute to for the datacore farming part.

No one is missioning in the corp at all. The few guys in hisec are all mining.

Found this last night, a must read if you have any interest in wormholes. Taught me a lot, but most importantly how to avoid stupid as much as possible. A bit long but chock full of great info.

I personally would make it a requirement to get into a corp if I had one. Morgaanti isn't always going to be there to answer the noob questions

3 or 4 of us hang out in the dual-boxing.com channel but we're in separate corps. There were a few folks that setup in wormholes a while back but nobody from that gang is on much these days.
