Really want a new mobo with USB 3.0 and Sata III... Anyone have any recommended/favorite companies in this regard? Have mostly been looking at Asus and EVGA.
Looking for one with 6x DIMM slots and a LGA 1366 slot. Feedback and comments are greatly appreciated!
Was looking into the Rampage III from Asus, I've heard mixed reviews about their Sabertooth boards.
If I were going to get a new system today, I would get a 1155 Sandy Bridge mobo w/ a 2500k CPU. Great bang for your buck. Asus makes one of the best ones per Maximum PC testsQuote:

Sabertooth...LOL! What a steaming pile of junk. I just got through dealing with that trash and am done with Asus. Again. Don't believe me? Read the reviews of the boards (the negative reviews) and look for CPU or RAM red LED failures. Makes you wonder why they haven't all been recalled.Quote:

I pretty much decided on that one last night. I heard that the BIOS is pretty sweet, maybe close to borderline overcomplicated though. I'm going to go buy it at the local Fry's Electronics though instead of Newegg, just because it would be an easier return if I did happen to pick up a defective mobo.

Ya I don't actually own a sabertooth but looking at the price/spec combo it looks good.
They advertize it as one of their most reliable motherboards ....
Anyway you won't go wrong with the Rampage III either.
I've been taking the Newegg reviews with a grain of salt. Almost seems like 50% of the complaints are made by idiots who have never built a pc before, much less privvy to basic compatibility of components and/or software.
^ everything i've ever bought from new egg (parts to build 4 pc's over the years) monitors and miscellaneous things only had one problem with it all which was a motherboard and i had a replacement shipped to me before the week ended so i usually just go with what i want to get whether the reviews are bad or not. Also of the reviews always seem like people who havent got a clue like buying a powerful gpu and not having a power supply to run it then blaming newegg or the product and down rating it lol
It's a coin toss for motherboards. I've experienced extreme problems with every major mobo manufacturer you can think of.
I typically prefer evga/asus though.
Well, you can usually spot the ones where people had no clue. WHen you get 50-60 people out of 500 reviews all reporting the same exact failures, you have to admit that's enough sample size to cause concern.Quote:
