level 70-80 leveling questions

I recently got my second full team to 70. I remember a couple years ago leveling 70+ sucked because of all the collection quests. Back then I didn't have a tank or healer. My third team is currently 64/65 and my fourth is 62/63. I don't want to end up with a bunch of level 70 teams so I need to get started on them now to keep the cycle rolling.

I skipped every collection quest after level 5 in vanilla. I skip every collection quest in BC. I plan to skip them all in WOTLK too. Since every team has a tank and healer, I can do instances. I can't remember exactly what the percentage of collection quests in WoTLK but i remember thinking it was too high.

MY QUESTIONS ARE:

1. If I skip collection quests am I going to be forced to get most of my xp from grinding instances all the way to 80?
2. Are there any daily (non-collection) quests in the 70-79 range and what level do they start?

The amount of experience required for 70th to 80th has been reduced by 20% or so.
That's basically two levels free, in the ten level process.

Some collections open up kills which progress a chain.
You can take a look on wowhead to see if something is worth doing or not.
I would try most collections, even if you only finish them with one or two toons.
And then rotate between toons, so whoever has the least exp on the team is the one with the bonus experience (quest turn in) at the end of the grinding on mobs.

The Grizzly Hills dailies open up at 73rd.
You can do those in 15 minutes or less, with a team.
They're decent experience to 75 or 76; I've done a lot of alchemists via those dailies for that level bracket.

While most of Icecrown has annoying phased areas in it.
You can hit the Shadowvault chain at 77th and be 80th by the time you're done.
Can also do a lot of kill quests or not terribly painful collections in Sholozar Basin.

Also instance a little for supplemental experience.
And do battlegrounds, especially on the weekend for a BG that your faction wins or you enjoy running.

I can't agree with this enough. You WILL burn out trying to level toons through LK...they just designed it so exceptionally poorly. I've just done a paladin and 2 ele sham team through 70-80 and have been able to skip the majority of questing (99%) by doing instances and instance quests.

I'd also recommend the BG weekends as well. AV and IoC are your best bets if you're not PvP geared or overly confident in your PvP skills.

On AV weekend last, I went from lvl 71-76 and that much of LK skipped is a welcome relief to anyone. Also, you'll have a better time in 40 man BGs than you will in 10. Remembering that when you box ANYTIME, you get a target drawn on your head :)

This may be a dumb question - I'm kind of in a similar boat as katsurahama in terms where I am in progression... I'm a little bit slower due to my free time, but anyway.

For PVP leveling - is the XP gain just for winning? Or are there quests, etc specifically involving pvp that I should be looking out for?

I've never leveled an alt or other character via pvp - so that part is sort of new to me.

Any of the BG objectives that give honor, translate into experience.

So in an AV, you get experience for slaying Belinda/Galvatron.
And for each tower/bunker that your side holds until it burns.
I assume for each of the runner guys that makes it back to the base.
And of course for winning the BG.

On the relevant weekend, you get bonus honor for losing the BG too.
Which helps, if your faction doesn't win that often.

Yes. For every goal in a match such as AV, you will get a substantial amount of experience (usually equal to a quest hand in for your level bracket. So for killing Galv/Belinda or for destroying a tower/bunker, you will get 16,000xp)

Also, in games such as EoTS and AB, you will gain the same amount of experience mentioned above for every 300 resources or so. So even if your team loses 1600-1500, you will still gain a fair sum of exp, before your bonus for it being a BG weekend or a random BG.

I find the 40 man BGs the best personally. Mainly because I can either tank a mini boss or hold a tower/bunker by myself and the rest of your team really appreciates this.

You will get A LOT of abuse if you are boxing in a 10/15 man bracket and your team loses, mainly for lack of anyone else to finger the blame at. Don't be discouraged though, just turn off your BG chat :)

I've contemplated turning BG chat off, several times.

Generally it is good to have it on, provided you have a bit of a thick skin.
If things are going well, the team doesn't care that you box or not.
If things suck and your side loses or looks to be losing, then obviously the boxer is the reason...
Even if it is a 10-man battleground with three objectives, and the other five players follow you around constantly so 100% of your side is at one of the three objectives and the other side has two of the three uncontested.

Still, leaving the chat on lets you know there are enemies incoming to wherever.
Which lets you support that location, or alternatively hit somewhere else that presumably was stripped a bit for them to have so many toons hitting one of your bases.
Plus you can call out, "x" incoming to "wherever".

Never respond to the useless negative shit in a BG. Not only as a multiboxer, but pretty much ever. You are either arguing with a 12-year-old mongoloid-wannabe or someone whose intention is to find someone to troll. Either one is a waste of time to deal with, and both become even angrier when you ignore them, which provides a small amount of satisfaction.

Angry BG chat only affects you if you let it. Ignore the stupidity and focus on stuff that matters, and after a while you don't even notice it. Or if you do, you just laugh and forget about it.

Back on topic, there are lots of gathering quests in wotlk. I forgot just how many there were. :(

I started in borean tundra. This is my first time there as alliance so i'd be lost if it wasnt for using a guide.

Ahh yes. 70-80. I just did it a few months ago. Made me want to smash my head into a wall until the blissful void of unconsciousness took me. :mad:

In the end, I just buckled down, grit my teeth, and did every one of those god forsaken quests 4X. I found that if I tried to supplement the horrid grind with anything, I would become completely side tracked because I dreaded going back to the grind again. I feel your pain.

I've been breaking up the monotony by skilling up herbing/mining. With rested and +25% exp from BoA gear I have been getting ~5300xp per northrend herb in WG. Of course, this means I had to put up with the monotony of getting herbing/mining to 400 on multiple toons.....
