Complex setups, any recommendations?

Ok guys, I’m new to Forums (All forums, not just this one), so feel free to point out anything that’s out of place / out of line.

I would like to get some input from people as to the complex parts of their setups they use, and just an overview of what it does, I can google how to do it. I’m not talking about hardware / program / macros / binds, but more of… How your accounts are set up.





Me:

• 4X Ele shamans (Heavily PvP focused) FTL system using only 2 mod keys.

• For healing I use an overlay that 'My software' has, tiles that are bound to macros, that heals X target with X heal. This completely eliminated ALL lag associated with /assisting my main for heals (I find this absolutely necessary!)

• For AoE (Earthquake, Healing rain) casts I use a key that clicks left at the current (Relative) mouse position for all accounts. I only click at my toons feet. I would love to hear of some alternatives to this method, perhaps one that casts the spell at your feet without having to hold your mouse over that spot, as I sometimes miss it.

• I do not use a single cast sequence (By choice). I recognize this is only doable on a homogenous build. It allows me to do things like build 9 fulmination charges, cast LB, while LB is in the air cast ChainLB, and end it with a Fulmination discharge on a pre-dispelled target (12 spells hitting 1 target in less than .5 seconds)

• Talents, abilities and totems are staggered to give me every group bonus with 2 toons having ensnarement earthbind, and 2 with Frostbrand weapons for slows.

• I run 3 screens, 1 system with 2 accounts being full screen and 2 being smashed on 1. 'My software' instantly sets the mouse over screen as active and my new main is instantly recognized on all accounts as soon as my mouse passes into the window. Main transfer time is less than 1/4, and the window is full screen to minimize disorientation. I do not see a use in having more than 2 full screen. Once 2 are dead, you’re in deep doo doo.

There can be a fine line between Support and General. This post, in particular, will be nice to have in the Support section
as new multiboxers coming in will [should] be looking at this Support section before looking into General. A thread like yours
will offer alternatives to your current methods giving new multiboxers something to go off of. This is really just my opinion
though. :)

I'm using IS Boxer for my software, I realize you don't care about the software specifically, but it provides similar features.

I have a Repeater Region for my toons, which enables mouse broadcasting to my healer or healing toons when the mouse enters the region. Combine this with an alphabetical sort via Grid/GridCustomLayouts and Clique to interpret clicks, that covers my healing.

The software provides three FTL Functions. FTL Assist Me, FTL Target Me, FTL Follow Me. Mapped keys, basically use one of these, if FTL is important. No macros or such for FTL, just drag wow spells onto the bars. So I essentially have FTL on as many keys as I like. Can overlay this with Focus, for crowd control or PvP focus fire.

AoE is handled via a Send Next Click, on a mapped key; the chosen targets get a mouse targeting circle on their screen which moves in real time as I move the mouse on the main screen. I actually create custom Action Target Groups (a software feature); three of mine are AoE_4, AoE_5, and AoE_ShA; any toon that I want to AoE on a given key is a member of the ATG, and my "4" key sends next click to all members of AoE_4. Can also enable mouse broadcasting via a hotkey or a click bar on the screen, either of which toggles it on or off.

Depending on class, I use castsequences mostly. Some of those are specific, such as Mangle-Savage Roar, for when I want that buff. Others are general, like Mangle-Rake-Mangle-Mangle-Rip. If you're hit capped for your content, you could manage each spell, a lot of the successful PvP boxers do that. You can also use a variety of methods to create a weighted random chance.

I use a lot of Round-Robin effects. Shammy totems is an example, for staggering. But Death Grip or Hungering Cold on the DK's is used too. Druids have Innervate and BattleRez on round-robin. Basically I create a mapped key, pick the hotkey for it (same as my wow keybind for whatever ability) then give it a Step for each character, and send that keybind to only that toon on that Step.

Talents are generally very similar, but not necessarily exact across toons. My five druid group have slight variety, so one has the Faerie Fire talent and glyph, another has Infected Wounds and the Rake glyph (PvE use), another has all the relevant bear talents (for PvE again) and a PvE glyph, the last two have Brutal Impact and B.Rez glyphs. They each have all the "core" Feral Cat talents I want, and aside from slight variation of Major glyphs, match across the remaining 2 Majors, 3 Prime and 3 Minor glyphs.

Conversely, my 5x Frost DK's (will be 4x Frost + 1x Pally, eventually) are identical as far as talents/glyphs go. Similarly, 5x Disc Priests, 5x BM Hunters, 5x Elem.Shamans, etc are all identical. My mixed caster team (five different classes) and my PvE progession team (five classes too) obviously have different specs and glyphs.

This expansion I'm running seven teams, but will probably add an eighth. The focus is on three primary teams and two secondaries.
A) 5x Feral Druids (Alliance PvP)
B) 1x Holy Pally & 4x Frost DK (Horde PvP)
C) 1x Blood DK, 1x Resto Shaman, 1x Disc Priest, 1x Arcane Mage, 1x Demo Warlock (PvE Heroics)
D) 4/5x Elemental Shaman (Alliance PvP)
E) 1x Disc Priest, 4x Affliction Warlocks (Horde PvP)

I'm running five accounts, on one system with a single 30" widescreen monitor. All my wow's are rendered at 1680x1050, but IS Boxer resizes them. One is large and four are small (along the bottom of my screen). Because each is rendered at full size, switching between them is literally instant (under 1 millisecond) and mouse broadcasting is absolutely perfect; can select talents and configure UI elements with broadcasting on. I run a mapped key, which turns visual effects up (to roughly 3/4's) on the main and down (minimum except view distance) on the slaves. Jamba forwards chat messages, so I don't need the slave windows visible aside from occasional visual checks that they're around; can instant swap to any, if I need them for anything.

This is a cool idea. If I did any PvE or large scale healing this would without a doubt be how I would do it! On the same note, have you been able to find any good way of filtering your group by name? Pitbull is supposed to be able to do it, but the functionally is extremely bugged. I would use Grid to show my teams HP if it shoed cast bars as well. I don’t believe it does?

So I’m a tad confuse how this works? (Although it sounds exiting!) The software automatically knows what modifiers to send to each window, and each wow windows has a universal Modifier? This does not allow you to… say Hold Alt and cast a FTL spell though does it?

I have 2 main problems with AoE right now…

When I “Click” all the accounts there is some lag as the software literally moves your curser to each window and clicks on it. (You can see the mouse jerking over each screen). Does this have a similar problem?

I cannot always consistently hit the same spot on the screen. In the heat of battle I sometimes click a little too high / low. Is there a way to bind a key to a “click this spot for all accounts” so to speak?

This part has me the most exited. I used a lot of round robin for things like Thundershock with cast sequence macros and blank commas. Are you saying this can be done on the software side aswell?

THANK YOU! This is why I have mismatches on clicks!!! By what you’re saying here, I’m assuming that the mouse is being emulated across all the accounts at the game level, not the OS level? (You don’t see the mouse move from account to account?)


Also, has anyone found a faster way than keyboard turning to turn all the accounts?

For the Repeater Regions, I'm using three addons.
Grid and GridCustomLayouts (for the custom sorting).
And Clique to interpret my clicks.

You can go with Healbot or Vuhdo or Grid + GridCustomLayouts + Clique, whichever option you prefer.

My custom configuration is:
ToonA,ToonB,ToonC,ToonD,ToonE;NAME
1,2,3,4,5;5/5;NAME;NR

The first line listed, corresponds to column one.
I have every toon across all teams (alliance and horde) on this list, currently 37 names.
Each is separated by a comma, there are no spaces.
It ends in semi-colon and name (name is entirely capitalized).

The second line denotes displaying toons from groups 1-5 (1,2,3 would only show toons in groups 1-3).
The 5/5 is (Columns Displayed / Rows per Column).
Again ;NAME, for an alphabetical sort.
NR = No Repeating, which means if a name appears once (in Column One) it won't be repeated anywhere else.

Effectively, all of my toons are listed in Column One, even if they're in different groups.
And the rest of the battleground/raid is listed in columns two through five.




During the configuration of you team, you set up a unique FTL Modifier for each of your toons. The software suggests what to go with, and works fine with the defaults.

The options are Left Alt, Right Alt, Left Ctrl, Right Ctrl, Left Shift and Right Shift. You cannot use both a Left and Right (of the same type) for a given character. This still gets you a ton of unique combinations: LA, LC, LS,
RA, RC, RS, LA LC, LA LS, LC LS, RA RC, RA RS, RC RS, LA LC LS, RA RC RS, LA RC, LA RS, LC RA, LC RS, LS RA, LS RC, RA LC, RA LS, RC LA, RC LS, RS LA, RS LC, etc.

The software has an addon which builds macros for you. When you press "1", it first does an FTL Assist Me command (the addon makes an assist macro, which is pushed), and then all windows receive a "1". The FTL macros will look very much like any other FTL set up, but are done behind the scene.

You are free to use Alt, Ctrl, Shift (or any combination) as the hotkey for a given mapped key, similarly you can use Alt + whatever as the output. The FTL keys don't get in the way of using those modifiers elsewhere.

Most FTL Functions reference one of the functions:
- FTL Target Me
- FTL Assist Me
- FTL Follow Me
The FTL refers to the "other" windows, automatically picking the correct (active) toon.




You can set an unlimited number of mapped keys. Most of mine are to the effect of (Shift D) as the hotkey, and they send (Shift D) to all windows.

If you want Shift D to be an AoE ground target effect, you would check a box for Send Next Click, and then set a target. You can go with the standard type of targeting:
- Window: Current (The Active toon only)
- Window: Others without Current (The Slaves only)
- Window: Others With Current (Essentially all windows)
- By Slot # (the Account)
- All of or Others in your character set (team of characters).
- The toons which have been placed in an Action Target Group.

I like to use ATG's, because I can have my "4" key be set as an AoE key for some of team A, no one in Team B, all of Team C, etc.
Just by adding the toons to the relevant Action Target Group.




Most of the software options on the market can Round-Robin.
With IS Boxer, this is accomplished with Steps.

If you are running a team with four Death Knights plus a Healer, you might want to Round-Robin the Death Grip.

If a mapped key has one Step, then the same thing happens every time it is activated.
If it has two steps, then Step 1 is activated first and Step 2 the second time, after which it goes back to Step 1.

With four toons who can Death Grip, you'd give the mapped key four steps.
On each step, you'd send your wow keybind to whatever character or slot you wished.

You can also set multi-step mapped keys to reset to the first step after 'x' seconds from either the first press or the most recent press.




Because IS Boxer renders every window at the same resolution, your system will lag a little compared to almost any other boxing software.
I get 60 FPS (which is what I have it capped at) on my main window, and 20 FPS on the slave windows (again what I've capped it at).

I have five regions, which are 1080x1650 each. Roughly 1.8 million pixels per region or close to 9 million pixels rendered.
With Keyclone, I used my full 1600x2560 monitor. That's roughly 4 million pixels rendered.
Obviously 9 million uses more resources then 4 million.
But I'm happy with my eye candy settings and game performance.

My rendering each instance of the game at full resolution, there is no swap time when you switch which region is active.
It just moves one region into the bigger window and stops scaling it down, and then scales down the previous region and moves it into the smaller window position.

Similarly, with every window rendered at the same resolution, mouse broadcasting is extremely precise.

Game elements will be totally accurate, such as Talent selection, clicking Accept boxes for setting your Hearth Point, or taking the same flight. Anything which depends on view distance, won't be as accurate (such as clicking on a portal), but you can see the mouse on each of the slave screens and position it to click on everyone at once.

You can disable instant swap, which would get you the increased performance of other boxing options, but then you have to go with their less accurate mouse broadcasting.




You could enable mouse broadcasting, possibly on a two step mapped key. Something like a thumb button as the hotkey, or any other key if that works better.

Step 1 enables mouse broadcasting.
Step 2 disables mouse broadcasting.

Then I would execute a step on press or release, meaning while you hold the thumb button down, you are mouse broadcasting, meaning right click held will turn your character the same as when you are one boxing.
As soon as you release the button, your mapped key goes to step 2, which turns off the broadcasting of the mouse.

Ualaa... I love you!! :D My ego is back in check! I though I had a sweet setup, I now see just how junk it is.

The current way I have FTL set up is a HUGE pain in my ars holes and only lets me use Alt. I will swtich over to your meathod as soon as I fully undrstand it (Google here I come!) So the FTL macro is generated each time you click a key that is used for FTL? Or is it 3 macro, and when you click... say 3... it first clicks the macro with the modifiers down (To target/ assist/ follow), then the key?

Round ribbon is something that I will greatly enjoy getting back! Being able to stagger grounding totem for a tick a second is very valuble. I feel like the current software I use is rather limited when I hear about all the stuff Im missing out on. :p

The turning thing... Dam! I LOVE it! Its positivly jenious.

Im the kind of guy that will spend days setting things up for that extra edge in arena / BGs. I will never be happy with my setup, always looking to imporve, so keep the posts up guys! At this rate my wow accoutn will play themselfs in a few weeks.

The software has a variety of mapped keys.

For the most part, I press a hot key for a mapped key which sends a Keybind to Warcraft.
And have a Warcraft spell or castsequence on that bind.

You can also generate macros inside of the software.
And then you use a hot key for the mapped key, which triggers the macro via the addon.

The software has an option to Export to Inner Space, in the File Menu.
When you export, it sends everything the addon needs to the addon.
If you launch warcraft through Inner Space, it uses everything that you've exported.

If you make changes to something that only sends keybinds, you can do that with just an export.
If you make changes to a macro generated by IS Boxer, then in addition to an export you'll need to reload the UI (/console reloadui) for the changes to take effect.

My DPS keys, were originally generated by the software.
It has an FTL Keymap (a keymap is a set of mapped keys).
Each of these has a hotkey (1, 2, 3, 4, etc).
And two actions on the same Step, meaning both actions occur with each press, and since it is one step it does the same thing every time.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, -, and =.
Press the key, and it does FTL Assist Me (Target: Current Window).
And then outputs the same key as the hot key, to all windows.
So no matter what window you're in, you push a default DPS key, and the slaves auto assist and then push the same key.

Actually, very soon Round Robin on ISBoxer will be achieved by clicking in a check box. You can then target any Action Target Group, or group of sessions to recieve those key presses, or if needed, mouse clicks.

ISBoxer 38 is in Beta, Lax is happy to allow any of his customers to try out the beta (as I am) by dropping into his chat room and asking.

I know little of this "un-named" software you're using, but I'm prepared to guarantee that ISBoxer can do things you thought impossible. I don't even have macros set up in the game anymore, all mine are edited within ISBoxer and exported to the game via the included addon.

I cannot recommend the software highly enough, the level of user support offered by Lax is superb.

On the click healing subject. I use a hybrid click system which combines two click bars and mouse repeating. It allows me to run two large buttons over my unit frames one of which sends SHIFT-Click and the other ALT-Click to the healer window, so with 3 mouse buttons I have 6 avaliable heals without pressing a key on the keyboard. On click the mouse position is synchronised to the slave windows and a mouse click is sent with a modifier (by round robin if I have two or more healers).

I use pitbull unit frames: Settings are show self in party and sort by name to get them all in the same order, and clique to setup my click heals.

I'm running the same thing now (Pitbull). I don't even have a Player pane anymore, I just use my party pane. Sort by name is causing me a lot of problems though. It displays player HP / manna wrong, sometimes names and class colors as well.

I like the idea of round robin for heals. I don't have a dedicated healer, but it would be nice to click 1 of my toons 3 times, and another once.

Could you explain what you are talking about with the heal buttons a little bit more? What i'm thinking I would now like is being able to click on the left part of a party member and having it do one thing (round robin heal), while clicking on the right part would have all members heal that target with 1 click.

Anyone have it set up this way? Think its doable?

I'm not positive if this is the exact method to set this up.
I read a post of this recently, but have not implemented it into my play.

You create a pair of mapped keys.
Each is two steps, executing a step on press or release.
Set one of them to press and hold Alt on step 1.
The other for Ctrl, on step 1.
Both of them aren't pressing anything on step 2.

Create two repeater regions.
You have the option of setting a mapped key to execute when the mouse is in the region.
Pick the one of the two (Alt/Ctrl) for the left region.
Pick the other for the right region.

When your mouse is in the left half of the grid frame, any click (left/right/middle/scrollwheel, etc) is the same as doing it with Alt also held.
Ditto for the right half, except as if Ctrl is held.

Then in Clique you set your click interpretation to be based off of Alt + Clicks, Ctrl + Clicks, etc.

In play, move the mouse over the left or right half of the Grid frame.
And click the relevant mouse button, no need for any keyboard input.
And it will count as Alt (or Ctrl) + Whatever click.

Ah yes, that would indeed work. I was originally thinking something along the lines of an add-on that could distinguish between left/right, but that is again, considerably more clever than what I was thinking of :)

Success in PvP is all about mind share in my opinion. The simplicity of playing a boxer seems to be directly related to how much time you dump into setting things up. Boxers already have tremendous amounts of attention requirements that a solo character doesn’t. The simpler my accounts are to use, the more mind share I will have to put toward killing thy enemy!
Just ordered ISboxer today, I can’t wait to get all these recommendations built.

After about 10+ hours of learning / setting up ISBoxer, I have managed to build a setup that I am very happy with. Thank you everyone who made it possible! :D

I have a few more things I would like to get set up if anyone has solutions to them.

The first is the round robin clicking. Ualaa touched on the subject but I’m still unclear how this is done (RR key binds I can do). What I would like is for each click of my mouse to be sent to the screens in order, and only that screen. Perhaps this is not the way it’s actually done, but I would like it to behave like this.

The second is mouse turning. I have a nice setup right now, where holding down my thumb button on the mouse turns on mouse broadcasting, so I can then hold down right button, and turn all the accounts. The problem with this is, during the heat of battle, I sometimes grab the right mouse button before the thumb button (Turning only my main screen). Is there any way to bind that thumb button to broadcast all, AND act as a right button being held down? In essence I would simply hold that one thumb button down to turn all my accounts.


On a side note, has anyone figured out what’s up with /script SaveView and SetView? It resets every time you close / open the game… wtf bliz? Read some unhelpful things on Google.
