Melee IWT -- It's a bit quirky... o.O

Well I followed Ualaa's guide to Melee IWT via ATG's.

And upon giving it a go on a new team, and new config in ISBoxer, something seems a bit... Quirky.

For one, ALL of the toons run after the target. Not the one's that are in the ATG.

Two, what's with the circle jerk at the end? Is that normal? They totally go spastic!

Three, it seems to target last target, when I head to the next mob. Causing my main and slaves to do this dance between the current and last target. They do this, pretty little line dance and go back and forth, before heading to the last target *most* of the time.

So is there something that I may have broken during the set-up?

What can I do, to help you help me?

I can't answer all of your questions, but the silly tango your toons do is generally caused by the way IWT works.

Basically, if you tell your slaves to IWT with a target, and that target moves, even in the slightest, the game engine has told those characters to keep moving in X direction until they hit that mob, so if your tank accidentally turns and slightly moves an enemy, after you have told your slaves to attack it, they will probably run off.

It's a fine art, but I find the old "follow active character" function in is boxer helps as it makes them come to you (however that's with 5 melée)

You didn't make use of the ATG correctly, then. The only way this can happen is if you send the IWT key to all of your toons.

I THINK this is relevant (unless you put in a /targetlasttarget in your config), I had this conversation with someone in the ISBoxer chat room yesterday:

Also, usually you don't want CTM enabled on your main -- it would be quite annoying for him to move automatically. This is the recommended method of using Interact with Target: http://isboxer.com/wiki/WoW:Quick_St...tion_with_NPCs. To use your ATG, in Step 8 where it says to send it to All w/ Current, use "Group(all of):<your ATG>" instead. The default IWT turns on CTM as needed on the windows it needs to be on in (all but the main window), so including the current window in the IWT will make your main interact but NOT move. Tthis is the most desirable behavior -- if you're close enough to an NPC you will open the dialog with your team, etc.

If you have IWT attached to your DPS keys, you're going to forever watch your guys run in circles. I recommend just having an easy to hit hotkey instead and use it as needed. Personally while I'm in combat my left hand rests on Follow,Assist,DPS keys, with IWT directly above Assist, and rapping my hand on all of those (to spam whichever are needed) is pretty natural. I don't use IWT all that often compared to normal autofollow. I also use a toggle that switches which characters are sent both my Follow and my IWT (same ATG), so I can hit my toggle and use autofollow or IWT freely.

Cheers Lax, fixed a couple things with a new toolkit by clearing the settings in ISB, but the target last target issue is still happening.

The only thing I changed with the toolkiit was adding F5-F9 to select slaves

What I was saying with the /assist thing is that for the period of your ping, you can select a target and if you hit /assist, your toons will pick up your previous target. That may or may not apply to your situation.

As for /targetlasttarget, there is nothing in ISBoxer by default (from the Quick Setup Wizard or otherwise) that does this, you would either have to have this in a WoW Macro Action (by entering /targetlasttarget, or selecting "... and restore Target afterward" in the "Targeting helper" box... or if it's not either of those, it would have to be something in WoW itself -- either a macro with /targetlasttarget, or a Key Binding in WoW's Key Bindings interface set to target the last target.

I've got my IS Boxer set so, CTM is enabled for all members of my melee teams, but only the slaves for my caster teams.

CTM + IWT is too essential for a melee team, to not be enabled (that assumes your driver is melee too).

But I hate having the main click on something, and run there. So for caster teams, I have CTM disabled on the main. But the slaves have it on, so I can interact to move them to a quest guy. None of the casters are in my Melee ATG (Action Target Group), so dps moves do not cause IWT for the.

Them spinning around is from sapmming IWT when ur withing meele range, but just not quite to your target. I normally just spam it and tap a movement key when I reach my target. This stops the spinning. The spinning is pretty sweet tho in PVP lol. I have no complaints with IWT, and I hope it stays in the game unchanged. :)

When I'm running a melee group, my DPS keys also spam IWT.
Unless I toggle that off.

I find if I press a single DPS key, for example "1".
My toons will move towards the target.
Once they get there, and they've stopped moving...
If I spam the key, they don't do the spin around movement, but IWT is being spammed in case the target decides to move off.

With my ping, I don't see a possibility of playing a melee team. :(

My lowest pings when playing are about 450, which is a good day.

Why no melee with a slower ping?
You suffer the exact same delay in switching from Target A to Target B, with a caster team.

Shouldn't be a problem.

Regional NSW here and I sit on 500-600 most days and have no trouble with my 5 DK's (Just hit 80 btw, yay!)

Last few days I have had some terrible latency just recently started using jamba maybe it's thhat. But even with crap latency you can pull it off. Anything below 600 is doable.

Latency is def. more of an issue with melee than ranged because we are relying on the melee staying within 8 yards to dps whilst the ranged can remain immobile. The lower your ping, the closer you can stay to your target spamming IWT.

Saying that, as long as I am not snared, I don't have any problem using my 250-350ms ping. If you have not already, do a search on some of the methods used to reduce your ping.

I find the trick to using IWT with PvE is to keep your tank still so the target does not move much, then tap your dps key (which should have IWT attached) twice to get your slaves to run to the target. If the target has moved, you will need to do this again. Once your slaves have reached your target and are stationary you can spam dps/IWT to your hearts content and they won't circle crazily. This is esp. important if you are working in a tight space, because quite often when the mob dies, your slaves will diverge fairly quickly before follow kicks in.

With PvP I will just spam the key. The crazy circling is really to your advantage in PvP so the more the better.

Both of my main multiboxing teams are melee. I have been using them for about a year. I still cannot figure out what triggers the IWT issue where you chars just run right through the target. Sometimes it happens on all characters, sometimes just one retarded character will run through, sometimes it will last the entire fight until the mob is dead or I "reset" by having all my chars follow me, then hitting IWT.

It always seems to happen at the worst possible times, of course. I've tried many different things to get it to stop, but it's still very random.

I will also have times where I'll get an error that says "target too far away", which then I'll have to hit my follow key until they get close, then magically the IWT will work.
