Hi, my dual boxed mages have recently hit level 20. Now that they are needing alot of spells to use, I have ran out of macro spaces (not on my action bars, there is plenty of room there. The /macro menu simply won't let me create anymore macros)! Is there any way I could create a greater number of macros?
Also, could anyone show me an addon that can put a picture of my clone's focus in my main window.
There are addons that give you more macro space or you can look at optimizing your macros, ie combining macros into one macro using modifiers etc.
Could anyone give me a direct link? I've done some searching and can't find it.
I don't have direct links sorry but try searching for SuperMacro and/or Trinity Bars (version 2). SuperMacro has an additional 36 macro spaces, not sure how well they work as a hunter I'm still using under 10 macros at 29... Trinity Bars is an action bars replacement and it can be set up so that the macro is built into each button, and it supposedly has unlimited buttons. (More than about 120 though and it begins to make your PC chug a bit.)

No idea about the extra macro buttons not using them now nor ever have, but the basic UI and stuff works fine on my PC.
Any spell/effect that can be cast on another player is macroed, obvious difference with a hunter is a lot of my spells/effects are aimed at my pet so don't need macroing.

The ability to to get extra macros past te in-game limit of 36 was heavily broken in 2.3, there are reportd that trinity bars works for giving you more macros but all the others like supermacro dont unless they have been updated.Quote:

I have only used one Trinity Macro Button so I have no idea if its still limits you to the standard 18+18 that everyone has, but that worked for sure. Makes moving macros easier too as its linked into your saved variables :)
I would suggest having just 1 macro:
/assist focus
/follow focus
Then for all your spells, you don't need a macro. It'll just cast the spell.
When you want to change to your current focus target, hit that one macro, then use all your spells as normal.
In later levels, I found myself doing the following.
/assist focus macro for all my toons
Everyone starts attacking the mob, when it gets down to about 15%, my tank moves on the to the next mob, while the other are still dpsing until that mob dies. When the first mob dies, my tank already has some agro on the 2nd mob, hit the macro for the /assist focus to the 2nd mob, then start wacking him down.
You use more then 36 macros on EACH of your toons???
Just FYI:
Use a separate WoW folder for each toon, even if they are all the same class. This will give you 36 individual macro slots for each char (18 on Account tab, 18 on Character tab).
And, as stated above, there are 18 macro slots on the Account tab, but also another 18 on the Character tab.

MacroSequence can be useful for this.
I'm really contemplating the modifiers, as you could have a LOT tucked into 1 macro, this is an issue if they go over 255 characters but combine that with macrosequence and you can have a lot more flexibility especially when utilizing something like KeyClone and KeyMaps (or any advanced game controller that you can set combo's on).

Thats a WHOLE shitload of combo's per macro you can have to designate different actions based on pushing da button... and since it's a UI mod it's really easy to move between accounts... not so much for developing on teh fly though :(
A couple weeks back the Supermacro author turned up and said he has begun work on a new version using the new methods. Until that is released I would say Trinity 2.0, MacroSequence or SlashLib are your best bets.
Only standard macros eg those stored in the 18+18 buttons that everyone has are limited to 255 characters AFAIK. Which makes huge macros a real possibility if you use Trinity or something similar.
I think it's a little harder for some classes with CC, it also gets to be more macro-slot-intensive if you don't use modifier keys in the macro and instead use modifier keys in the key-binding. I use about 15-18 macros as well for my shamen, and a normal 100 key keyboard... (using U-I-O-P, shift-U-I-O-P, J-K-L-;, etc for different totem sequences...can keep both hands close together this way) Shaman totems will also spoil you since you don't need to target anything or assist anything to deploy them.Quote:

10 macro slots gone right there unless you bind it to the same key with a modifier.
And of course the /dance macros and the /spit macros and the /say <insert witty 5 char dialog here> macros.

Just thought of an interesting question related to this and thought I'd ask here.
I've just picked up an n52 and original G15 keyboard so I have lots of spare keys. I was going to use those to bind to macro's with weird key combinations (eg alt+shift+crtl+1 = heal party1) and use the ingame macro editor to do so, but given both devices have macro capabilities could I use them to do /target party1, /cast holy light as two seperate commands or would that be against the tos since it's effectively doing two things with one keypress but on the other hand is merely doing exactly what an internal wow macro would do but saving me an internal macro slot.
I haven't done this yet, and haven't had an issue with running out of slots but it would be nice to know I have that as an unbannable backup if need be...guess only real way to know would be to post on wow forums though.

As for copying the wow folder, you dont have to copy any of the patch files, but everything else you will if you want to have them seperate.
@thinus, i dont think you need the /stopmacro [modifier] in there but not positive.
@kyntestorme; yes thats against the TOS, 1 key can be bound to multiple keys (ie shift-ctrl-0) but the moment pressing one key once gives you two spells your busted.

However, without any [target=blah] in there you must have a hostile target already for it to work. just add in any , target=focus type thing you want inside the brackets and you're fine.
*edit* make sure to put the one without any modifier last because when a macro is run it goes until a condition is met and then stops.
I put the /stopmacro in just to catch modifier combinations not handled in the macro. If you handle ctrl+1 and shift+1 but not alt+1. So if you press alt+1 but you meant to press shift+1 you don't get the default 1 behaviour. If that makes any sense.Quote:

My reason for copying the wow folder is for addons and keybindings and all that good stuff so that the data in each one can be changed seperately. While the macros are seperate from account to account the other things (especialy display) are not.
- I don't actually use that many macros, I'm merely suggesting ways to have big/many if you need.
- For my groups currently (highest being 31) I have about 8-10 common macros, mostly to do with invites, switching focus, emotes... stuff like that. Then each spell that targets an enemy as a macro, individual for my hunters, eg 1 for arcane, 1 for serpents sting... Warlocks use sequences far more, so each macro will have three or more actions defined, CoW = Cure of Weakness, Corruption, Immolate, Shoot (with wand)... etc.
- I have bee experimenting with Trinity 2, its great once you get the hang of it, but it doesn't deal with macros in the same way the game does... My locks use this macro which works absolutly from a normal action bar button:
Essentially hit the button four times, get my three main DoTs (x2) on the target and continue wanding till death...Code:#showtooltip

However Trinity only works for the follower (who has me as a focus) because the macro fails when it hits the focus part, I'm working on working round that but for now Trinity is no good for complex stuff. ;(- If you want to have an install for each character but don't have the HDD space to do so look up junctioning (its on the forums somewhere) its a method for assigning virtual paths to directories or files (well similar method) so you can have one physical installation and then each of the 2ndary installs uses the data/addons/etc from the primary.
Don't have a broadcasted keyboard, 1 machine, and typing /dance versus hitting the macro key is the difference between the ganker still looking at his corpse and the ganker having released already. I also turn my key broadcasting off when I hit "/" so I can use chat channels without spamming them with all 5 characters.Quote:

Wand
So 13 in all, plus my usual ones on the General macros tab:
Accept everything
Assist focus
My warlocks have a few more macros for fear, death coil, soulstones, petattack/petpassive, etc. but even then they don't use all the slots on the character tab. :P Combine abilities that make sense...it'll not only save macro space but will save you lotsa time and headaches when you stop micromanaging things. Good macros work FOR you.
I'd share what macros you're using as has been suggested. Might be we can help you minimize/simplify things a bit. ;)
