I was trying to make some click macros in bteta on my shaman. It seems that the "comas" are ignored. It is just trying to click the next button but will get stuck on the first ability. Anyone else in beta that can confirm?

Oh this could make boxing difficult, hope it's a bug.
If thats not a bug I think boxing is over for me.
uh oh....
yea I'm praying its a bug. Whats weird is the commas work to progress a cast sequence macro, but not for the clicks. I hope its just a bug, but it would not surprise me if if they broke it 8\
explain "commas work to progress a cast sequence macro" ? You mean you can use once they are all in the same macro?
Hum, any idea if they removed the macro character length limitation?
My point was that they may be doing some revamping on how macros work and are looking at some different ways of using cast sequence instead of click macros
Hmm my ele shams would not be so good using a cast sequence, so I'm not quite sure what you guys mean.
Click macros are a crutch imo. :)
I only use /castsequence anyway :D
for multiboxing they are the best way to maximize caster dps on multiple toons. Can it be done without? yes, but its very hard to max dps without click macros for boxers. Insta cast spells, like with palies, can be done with an old school castseqence. There are long threads explaining exactly why this is so. So sure.. you can do it manually, fine.. but as every boxer knows.. its a pain to do it without macros.. and click macros are the best way to utilize macros for dps.
Bliz would only be hurting boxers with this change, if it is not just a bug. But we will adjust and move on.
Going to test this right now.
Yeah it's not working. Tested with a 80 shaman using
/run SetCVar("Sound_EnableSFX","0")
/cast elemental mastery
/click MultiBarRightButton1
/click MultiBarRightButton2
/click MultiBarRightButton3
/click MultiBarRightButton4
/run SetCVar("Sound_EnableSFX","1")
/castsequence reset=combat flame shock,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/castsequence reset=combat lava burst,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Archiving my version of innerspace now :P
/castsequence reset=combat chain lightning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/cast lightning bolt
He never does anything except cast flameshock, and then stops.
I just hope its a bug. It seems buggy. Even doing /castsequence spell, spell, spell .. instant spells seem to make the thing hang up.

I wouldn't sweat it, a lot of macro functionality we use has been disabled to force people to test the default UI.
A click castsequence really helps, when you're running multiple toons of different classes.
While it might not be optimal, it is a lot closer to optimal than manually managing (impossible really) several casters of different classes at once.
If your team is 5x Boomkin or 5x Shaman, then you can have them all Flame Shock or Lava Burst together. If the team is Boomkin (who wants Insect Swarm/Moonfire, when not up, and Starfire/Wrath when they are up) and a Shammy (who wants Flame Shock, then Lava Burst on each cooldown, then Chain Lightning on each cooldown, and Lightning Bolt fall-throughs)... it is much easier to spam a single button.
Whether the sky is falling or not... We cannot be sure if a change will be permanent in Cataclysm or not. Whatever they do, we'll adapt as single boxers will as well. Our advantage will still be coordination and our disadvantage will be a lack of simultaneous different actions, compared to one-boxers or five single players.
It is too early to say whether this is a change for Cataclysm or not.
Im sorry if i go offtopic here, but im a pritty much a macro noob, can someone explain to me how /click macros work? ive been looking around the forums for an explanation but i cant seem to find one(probably infront of my eye..) ive only use castsequence macros so far, would be nice to know what click macros are.. cheers!
Ah you see, totaly blind, cheers!
incredible if it's a bug.
someone had to go out of their way to break it if you ask me.
I agree with pinonoir ... if it's not a bug why would I continue to box the game... time to find a new boxable game.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't all this stuff be done without /click? I'm surprised peeps depend on /click so much... there must be solutions using ISBoxer that are likely superior to /click.
When i raid i do my casting manual for the most part.. you don't "need" addons or macros to play solo. You do not "need" them for boxing either, but it sure in the hell makes it a lot less work with them. I play to have fun, boxing would not be as fun if you could not maximize dps as easy as you can with /click macros. For me anyway.
I am having a good time playing solo in beta though, i could never play solo, other than raiding, for long. I have been boxing 2+ since EQ1 and every MMO I have played. I will finally be able to finish my movie for Blizzcon! woot!
As long as Healbot or Vuhdo or another similar addon get updated for Cataclysm and /castsequence works then I should be able to box just fine.
Never used /Click and I guess I don't need it because I've been boxing just fine for 8 months now.
Oh we will be able to use castsequence, but our dps will be gimped comparably. Often I manually use each ability when solo raiding, but I have come very close to that dps with click. Castsequence just does not jive with spell cooldowns very well.
Anything you can do with /click you can do without (without any loss in performance) so I wouldnt worry yet.
I'm sorry but you don't know what you are talking about.
Edit: I see you do arena, I'm talking extended dps with maximum uptime on target, I.e. not pvp.
With IsBoxer step macros I really cant see a reason to use ,,,,,,,,,
I can't decide if you guys are pulling my leg, conflating terminology nuances or just retarded, though considering you're both usually reasonable posters, I'll assume it's a terminology issue. Let's define what's being discussed here.
- People are saying /click macros are broken.
- After further discussion, people aren't talking about /click macros at all, but comma-based fall-through macros that are broken.
- Further investigation shows Blizzard has apparently disabled all addon functionality in macros (i.e.: the /click command specifically, in addition to other advanced macros possibly including comma-based fall-through macros) temporarily for feedback reasons. TL;DR = DON'T PANIC (note the large, friendly letters).
- /click macros are no different than any other macro, you're just clicking another button with it.
- /click macros ARE NOT comma-based fall-through macros, though they utilize comma-based fall-through macros to allow stacking multiple macros.
- The ONLY two advantages to a "/click macro" versus having all the commands in one macro are that A) you can call separate macros with a short command which alleviates the 255-char limit in macros without having to resort to mods, and B) you can drag a macro off a click-macro-targeted button to easily rearrange/modify your click macros on-the-fly without editing any text.
Now that we're more precise about /click macros versus comma-based fall-through macros, what problem did you have with people saying:
? Is there something incorrect in that statement?
Lest you think I'm picking nits here, consider the noobs who will search and find this thread and think that they will forever be OMGFAILBOATNOOBLOL if they don't have ISBoxer and /click macros.
I was assuming that he meant that he uses castsequence instead of /click. It hadn't occurred to me that he might mean the fall through of commas. If that's the case then carry on with your bashing.
