Cataclysm will be harder to play for multiboxers

Sometimes i read on the forums "cataclysm will be very nice for multiboxers", but infact i believe the opposite will be true.

5mans get a lot of movement trashs and bosses. They even add talents to allow classes to move while dealing damage. You will find a lot more group independend movement requirements in cata i believe.

I dont even think about creating a 10 account raid yet, i dont even think 5 man boxing will be as funny as it was in wotlk.

To keep it short:

- much more movement required in cataclysm
- more complicated tanking and healing mechanics

and i would believe they are going to redo /castsequence and other macro commands.

Is this something you know because you're in beta or is this just more sky is falling BS? Because we already have a thread on this subject.

If we have talents that allow DPS and healing to function on the move, that means...we'll be able to move without screwing up DPS and healing. Sounds like a win to me.

Every time something changes things get "more complicated" for about 2 weeks while people figure it out.

People said there's no way we could box in Burning Crusade because of things like CC. I didn't even bother with CC and still managed to successfully box everything.

People said we couldn't box in Wrath because of vehicles...TotC was my favorite instance.

People swore it was the end of boxing with the changes to castrandom, that the heavy use of proc-based spells and targetted AOE were specifically targetted at killing boxers and that melee boxing would never happen. I can attest that all that did was make me spend a few hours reworking a few things. Usually for the better.

I think you need to stop speculating on the negative stuff and get your head sorted, as Khatovar said having the ability to heal/dps while moving is a GOOD thing how on earth could you ever think it would be bad?
Moving has always in some part been needed in WoW and it always will be, sure in Cata it may be a lot more but so what? Wares the fun in just tank an spankin everything? There is no fun there unless all you care about is an easy ride and free eppixx...
When cata comes out I'm going to buy it and give it a month maybe 2 then I'll decide if its still a playable game along with the rest of the cata boxers.
There are sooo many cool new things happening in cata and just because you may have to work a little harder and do some major macro/keybind changes is no reason to worry, I just hope people hurry up and figure things out so they can post them on here for me to use LOL
And its not a huge deal if they get rid of cast sequence macro's I leveled in dungeons to 80 with only:
/assist angeldeelite
/follow angeldeelite
So as long as there still in the game I think I'll be OK ;p

One thing is pve, another thing is PVP

Im currently playing on Beta level 82 and i got 40k health and 40k mana, but my damange itself has not incresed that much, and they even announced that damage as it is now in the beta is to much.

They are going to make health extreamly high compared to damage and healing, it is not gonna work the same way as it did before where a single healer can top off any class almost instantly.

I think we will face a problem with people having 120-150k health but only do like 20k crits, I dont think 1shotting with lavaburst is gonna be possible on any classes, I sort of can confirm it is gonna be harder for us. but we all felt the same when lich king came out

All i can say is burst is not gonna work as it does now, in a 5v5 arena u wont be able to burst a target down in a global at all
on the other hand they wont global us either, and healing will be on same level as DPS so once again i think its gonna be a new playstyle for us.

But I do believe its gonna be possible :)

Yeah I'm not sure the sky is falling just yet. I will probably try 2-boxing (my account and my wife's) some of the new content while it's in beta and while that's certainly not 5-boxing, I'm hoping I'll find out enough about what's different to prepare for 5 boxing it. I highly doubt it will be impossible to do.

Like others are saying, looking at the existing content you'd think a lot of it would be pretty difficult to multibox, and yet people are 10-boxing a lot of the current 10-man content and there isn't any 5-man content that can't be done.

I look forward to the challenge as well. That's half the fun!

This is exactly what was said when WotLK was released. QQ Sky is NOT falling, multiboxers will adapt and will still pwn faces.

The damage is still quite a bit. I'm sorry but if we are critting for 10k with lavaburst... it's still not going to be much to kill them. Maybe not a single lavaburst but we have to also realize... we sitll do 5x more damage than any single toon, and more than double what two do... It's not going to change much, it will just take more than 1 gcd to kill someone.

WoW has always required movement. Heck, even some heroics now require movement. Hell, If you can't move your characters, you're doing it wrong.

I'm too lazy too want to move them. Kinda tired of alot of the current fights being like a dance number....and even on single characters. For me, it's not a matter of the sky is falling, I just don't find movemnt figts all that enjoyable. (I'm too easily frustrated and pissed off lol.)

I am currently playling the beta, yes. With a single account. And as i said, the instances got lots of void zones, push backs, less aoe and more single target damage.

Yeah, i will take the challenge too. It's just that i am a little bit concerned about those, who write "cataclysm will be easy as a multiboxer".. it just wont. It will give some elements from bc, and some elements from wotlk.

I dont talk about pvp, because i rarely play pvp.

Nothing is "easy" as a multiboxer outside of kill quests. It's always a challenge to make things work seeing as this is a game designed as a Massive Multiplayer.

Anyone who expects things to be "easy" is only multiboxing because they think it's all facerolling.

I don't mind if combat is a little harder for multiboxers in Cata as opposed to Wrath, so long as it's not too gimicky.

I can handle fights like Frick and Ick where I'm constantly on the move (though I wouldn't want them all to be like that), or even one like Devourer of Souls (though I had to gear up substantially to put that down). What I wouldn't like to see is things like ToC or Occulus, or even the vehicle fighting in Ulduar repeated personally.

I put a lot of work into my toons, I don't want that wasted by having to climb into a vehicle.

I'd also not like to see more fights like Ahune, where an all melee team like I'm running is essentially powerless in Phase1 to do any damage, and has to do it all in Phase2.

So long as single or dual-class multiboxing teams have a place in Cata, I'll be ok. Hats off to those running highly diversified teams, but I found the micromanagement involved in to be very much not to my liking.

All that said, I agree, it's still way to early to say what Cata will be like for us multiboxers, and while I don't think Blizzards ever done anything specifically to help us in the past, it's paranoid I believe to think they'll do something specifically to hurt us in the future.

until now rated-bgs are not that great.

and ofcourse boxing will get more annoying again.

I like the movement fights because it keeps me on my toes. The fights where I don't have to move result in me just spamming my dps and pressing a few heals here and there.

More movement = more challenging = me likey. :D

I'm withholding my judgements. Only things that have me concerned is I've seen the last bosses in both dungeons require kiting and that's on normal mode.

Sure we'll find a way. It's just they've hit on one of the toughest things for multiboxers to do and that's kite 2 mobs at the same time. Or kite one mob while AOE a pack at the same time.

Don't get me wrong I think we'll be able to do it and look forward to be challenged again. We're just going to get creative. Just look at the Dungeons and Raids section- every single WOTLK has been picked apart and several strategies are available for most. Cataclysm will be just the same no doubt.

Rated BG´s are going to work fine, But I still have my doubts with a premade setup, sinse you would be running into premade teams, which would most likely contain of forexample 5 normal 3v3 teams for Arathi-Basin even as a multiboxer with 4 chars ud have problems against people who are really cordinated and "actually" play together

But if you plan to just do BGs without premade´s its another thing :)

It is going to chance alot, but its not negative, sure we are gonna do more damage than others. I was counting with 4 shamans thougth, not 5. But it will force us into another playstyle for sure. Exactly what that is going to be i dont know yet :).

I feel for hybrids, no spell pushback reductions anymore will really hurt ele healing.

Lets be honest, some of the heroics ended up being such a joke, that they weren't all that fun. I stopped farming heroics cause i got bored, not cause they were hard. I welcome the challenge. And if boxing gets "harder" in cataclysm, maybe we will get less hate (yeah right) from the haters, due to it not being a simple way to faceroll stuff, but an actual challenge, requiring skill. Kinda like how if you saw someone with a handgun hit a dozen perfect shots, and someone with an assault rifle hitting the same number of shots, but firing 10x as many bullets, you would have more respect for the first guy, for having skill, and not as much respect for the other guy cause he just steamrolled it. (forgive the analogy, but recently I've been watching that show "Top Shot" hehe)

I can see one area where multiboxers can get a big benefit. I have my own personal guild for my characters, and at the moment about four RL friends are also in the guild. I expect that the guild will remain very small, as we do not intend to become a raid guild and I only intend to allow RL friends to join. With the new "guild perks" system, a small and very casual guild like mine will take a long time to get the various perks. But since I can also level five characters at a time, it'll be a lot faster than it would be otherwise.

If the perk system goes in as it is right now, there are quite a few nice passive bonuses you can get, such as more experience from kills, more +rep, extra coin from looted mobs sent to the bank, extra honor gain, etc. Being able to climb that ladder 5x as fast could be very useful in the short run.

Couldn't agree more looking at those perks! One I am REALLY excited about is summon your whole party/raid. That would make life wonderful.

I'm in a very odd situation and not sure what to do. It helps to have friends and I got invited/accepted to the top guild on our server as a friend. When I say top guild I mean it- they have all the server firsts etc...What this means is I am in the guild as a friend and not required to raid or really expected to. I have some serious health problems so raiding has been out of the question for me for a while now. Hard to sit for long periods without causing me pain and I'd hate to let others down having to bail on a raid.

Here's the rub- I have my own guild for my team and alts. They will be investing in my team/alt guild while I am investing in the other guild. Not sure what to do.

I'd like to stay in that nice guild to be with people and some of the top players. Of course they'll get perks way quicker than I'd get multiboxing. I could put an alt in the other guild but then it'd defeat the whole purpose of getting to know people since he'd never be online much.

I will keep my main in the Guild with my RL friends etc and other 'real' players. I will keep my bank/boxing guild for all my multibox characters. My main will probably see most of the perks first but in the end the box guild will see them all too just a bit slower.

I wouldn't drop out of the guild to go hermit it up in your 'own' guild. No point.

I've been hunting around, but will small guilds (5 to 10 "members") be able to reap these rewards?

A guild with any number of people should be able to to unlock all of the perks eventually, it'll just take longer with less stuff being done.

Thank you for quoting that. I was looking for that yesterday trying to calm some people down bitching about big guilds versus small guilds and how small guilds are going to get the shaft.

Well, the requirement for raid achievements kills off 5-boxers right there, as we'd need 7/10 in the raid to be credited with it.

I sincerely hope Blizzard reduces that to 5/10 or my guild certainly won't be making any raid achievements.

Other than that, I do look forward to seeing what the system offers, and I've got no problem with my 10 member guild (expanding to 15 in Cata) progressing more slowly than mega-guilds. That's perfectly legitimate.
