My account keeps getting suspended for 72 hours automatically

Hi guys,

This is the 2nd weekend in a row this has happened to me. I get a 72 hour suspension to my account for 'Exploiting the Economy' with the idea I am buying or selling gold for real life money being suggested in the e-mail.

Both of these weekends I have attended a GDKP run. This involves bidding for items in a raid with cash, handing over the cash to the raid leader and then getting your split of all the gold collected at the end. Last weekend I got 9000g out of a run and spent about 25000 in the raid. This weekend I made about 6400 out of a run and spend about 23000.

On both weekends I mailed gold from my bank alt (level 1) to my main. The characters are on the same sub-account.

After playing all weekend on Sunday night I get suspended after I log out of the game. My password is changed (I cannot login to billing.) I use an authenticator and the e-mails are legit. Last weekend I submitted the web form for help and the suspension was removed and got a 'canned response' apology.

I have submitted another request, and tried to call Blizzard but the phone message said they where too busy and I had to call back later.

Alot of the other regulars in the raid are:

* Transferring gold between bank alts to get more cash
* Buying items for large amounts of gold
* Receiving a lump sum of gold from the RL at the end of the run

I cant think of anything I'm doing to trigger this suspension. I am using ISBoxer and I use lowerping.com to get improved performance. Alot of other members of my raid also use lowerping.

I really want my account to be in good standing and have no marks against it, I' ve been a subscriber since day one and rarely had my accounts deactivated. I'm more worried about not getting into beta and things like that for having action on my account.

Anyone got a similar experience or any suggestions? Am i breaking the ToS here without knowing it?

I would bet on someone reporting an issue, versus actual trigger based on some logic. After an offense, then logical triggers perhaps.

Transfering 100k from bank alts isn't something you get banned for and people with huge /played and zillions of AH postings don't get banned for economic issues.

Since you got a canned response apology, then we know that these suspensions are indeed mistakes. Probably you are flagging their automated suspension/ban software somehow with all the gold movement, but I don't see how, as the movement is on the same account. Maybe their software looks at how many people a person has given gold to in the last 24 hours, and they flagged the RL of your GDKP as a gold seller or something. Also there's no way TO know, as blizzard will not reveal that informaion. My advice would be call billing and talk to them, explaining that it is pretty ridiculous to keep having this mistake occur, and ask if there is any way to avoid it in the future. Chances are you are simply sol though, and they will be unable to give you any information and just tell you to send the email like they always do.

imo, if you think its an error they recognize, then there really isn't anything they are going to do.

i would suggest that you don't move gold over 10k cross account. AH is legit, but most people don't play with multiple accounts unless they have large gold reserves. but that is the issue, gold sellers don't typically have large gold reserves unless its time for a payout. people withj over 200k gold on a toon tend to still have 200k on a toon for weeks. gold sellers will move their gold around as it funnels up and then back out to buyers / other holders... if you meet their pattern they have set, then you will set off the autoban procedure ingame.

This isn't about it being unfair / just wrong etc. This is about not f'in up your game time by simply advoiding a couple of procedures, unless you like being a victum.

you aren't getting reported by anyone ingame. that method of loot sharing is accepted and enforced by bliz staff so there isn't anything wrong with that. no person except you and bliz know when you are moving around gold especially with a lvl1 toon being that those toons don't appear on the armory.

Talk to Billing, is the best you can do.
Not sure they can help, but a live person to talk to is the best bet, anyway.

Those people bidding on items may or may not be purchasing gold to buy in the raid. Which you are getting a cut off of.

I know plenty of people that have purchased gold, and then bought items from a raid. While I imagine quite different, I imagine its also quite the same, in Everquest as a guide pretty much your account information (not login ect, but stuff that happens) was placed on your account for all to view and track, I doubt their system scans for this type of stuff. I also know botters, hackers, gold sellers, gold thieves.. who have marks(pvp suspensions, bannings on their battlenet ect) and still get beta invites, so I wouldn't really worry about that aspect.

There's something distinctly fishy about that raid setup. It sounds overly complicated. There's the problem. Someone probably reported the raid/raid leader, there was a quick investiation, and everyone involved got a ban.

Doesn't sound that fishy. That's just how GDKP works. When an item drops, everyone bids, and the winner trades the gold to the raid leader then trades the item to you. At the end of the raid, the raid leader divides the gold he has received for all the items by the number of people in the raid and then trades that amount to each person.

The only thing that might be different than some of the GDKP I've been in is that the amounts are a little higher than I've personally seen, but on a server with a lot of gold in play, it's not unheard of. I mean, to get in the ones on KJ, you'd had better be really well geared or have about 15k of disposable cash.

My guess is that you got flagged for something and this is just triggering an automated system. The person that is responding to your inquires can only reset the suspension, but likely doesn't even know about the flag or automated system that is causing this. Your best bet is to keep calling Billing until you can talk to a person, and then be very polite and explain you aren't sure what it is that you are doing to result in the suspensions. Being polite is key, as that may be what makes them decide between you being a victim or a villain.

bliz gms enforce this raid setup also in case the rl / ml run off with the gold without sharing the loot under their "scam clause"

Just need to make sure the GDKP rules are stated in raid chat, and not just over Vent.
Once they have the system on record, they enforce the rules that were agreed upon.

When you do GDKP runs just lead the run or make sure you are going with a reputable guild. Our server has multiple ICC GDKP runs.

None of the other guys I raid with got a ban. Just me.

Still trying to work out what I'm doing different to the others. Most of my gold has been sitting in my guild bank for along time as I've built it up slowly. 90% comes from the Auction House and 10% comes from just quests and daily heroics etc.

I dont sell stuff in trade chat so I'm struggling to work out how my gold or the gold I'm recieving could be stolen.

I think I will wait for the suspension to lift and then submit a ticket to a GM to hopefully talk with someone about whats happening. Getting through on the phone is a massive nightmare.

Most of the people in the raid are some of the top AH players on the server - its not uncommon to see people pay 20k-30k for BiS items like DFO and various capes and trinkets. Its a good system and sadly will probably die out for at least the beginning of Cata. It works and there is no squabbling because the only thing that talks is money. You can buy any item you want and everyone works really hard to kill bosses because they only get gold from bosses dying and the more bosses you kill the more gold split at the end. Also means if you want that trinket that just WONT drop for you, you can win it as long as you are willing to pay the $$.

Personally, after all my crafting efforts of late, sending of large amounts of gold between toons isn't a problem for me.... /sigh /lol

Yup! I'm back now though.

I just realized as well I'm working overtime 6:30am - 6:30pm on Sunday so I wont be able to make 7pm for our ROTW/VoA10 attempts. ROTW is Anub in Naxx so save it and we should be able to smash it though.

I will be online at about 9pm. See if you can hook yourself up with a microphone during the week so we can use the Cael Multibox Vent.
