Dealing with annoying Rogues in BGs

I tend to do a lot of BGs with my x5 Shamans and I love owning everyone in AV or Isle of Conquest.


However, what I hate most are piss-ant rogues that dedicated their time to following me around the entire game and sapping one of my toons.

I'll be mounted or running somewhere and suddenly a slave will fall behind due to being sapped by a rogue.

I trinket out of it, but before long he is sapped again and again and again.

Sure, I try to find the rogue by AoE / magma / nova / etc. But usually by the time I notice a toon is sapped, the rogue is long gone waiting to do it again.

Makes me extremely angry as it slows me down.


How do you deal with this situation? Is there any solution? I love to be able to get sapped then immediately have the rogue exposed so I can turn around and nuke him.

jamba warns when follow breaks ... besides that i'm afraid not much can do except being prepared, not taking obvious routes and change direction all in a sudden. Ain't there a potion / elixir that increases your stealth detection as well?

spread out formation, magmas and earthbind down and then reform on your sapped toon and mount when you can, run in a direction he is not expecting. This is about the only thing you can do, unfortunately =/

Do your AoE spells, such as Thunderstorm on round-robin.
Try to break the stealth, which will be a dead rogue if it happens.

If the guy is just following you exclusively, throughout the BG.
Guard something like a tower or whatever.
You're at least holding an objective for the BG and helping your team win, while he is doing nothing.

Another thing is, try to get in combat, hit a critter, npc or another player if one is around, once ur in combat, sap doesnt work :)

I have a round-robin totem-sequence like "Magma-Totem,Earthbind,Fire Nova,," if a rogue follow and sap me all the time

the other thing i've done is just keep running, you can keep going about 40+ yards and he'll jump your guy because he thinks you left him but you can usually get back in time to heal and kill the rogue.

I will just put 4 flame shocks on someone and ghost wolf away. I think sometimes when people look at the scoreboard or notice they are against a boxer, people ask rogues to mess with us :D

Yeap, happens all the time on rampage. Still takes a while to find the rogue if they are skilled at getting away after the sap.

Ghost wolf, AFAIK you're not sappable. Had one in WG this morning doing that to me, and I couldn't find him. I ghost wolf-ed away, and he still blinded one of my toons. It's annoying, but once you do get a handful of flame shocks on him he's as good as at the graveyard.

Ghost wolf is sappable. They changed that quite a few patches back. :(

Either get into combat, or wait til right when sap is going to expire, then hit TS. Most of the time, the rogue is right there ready to sap another one of your guys.

I HATE THIS *NERDRAGE*

Yesterday in ADS i had a group where 4 of the 15 players here rouges. I think all 4 Rouges where just sapping me all the game. Damn that was silly. At the end i just sit at the bloodelf tower with the flag and wait for the damn win :(

Get the Paranoid addon....

I did my very first winthergrasp yesterday, and even though I sucked, a rouge with 27,2 k HP tried to kill me the minute I ported in.

I diden't kill him, but he had to flee after 3* Insect swarm + 3* moonfire.....

He tried multiple times to kill my team while I was getting the quests, and if I had better gear, i'm sure he would be dead within a second. I get warned by the paranoia mod, and it also lets you target the enemy.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply ghost wolf isn't sappable. Just mean, get in combat quickly, and skeedadle out as fast as possible (instead of waiting for combat to drop and casting a ground mount). :D

Are you sure ghost wolf isn't sappable? I've been single box levelling a rogue in the BGs recently and whenever I try to sap a shaman in ghost wolf I get an invalid target message like when I try to do the same to a shape shifted druid.

Druids in forms (except trees) can now be sapped too but only after level 71 when you get SAP rank 4

Ah, I see. I take it that sap rank 4 is also needed for the ghost wolfs too then?

That's interesting to know. Guess I should read rogue patch notes more often.

Rank 1-3 Humanoids only
Rank 4 Humanoids, Beasts, Demons, Dragonkin

I play a solo rogue a lot of the time and when you're faced with opponents who will drop you in an instant your _only_ option is to try and annoy them into making a mistake you can take advantage of.

Complaining that your 5 guys don't have an I WIN button against every solo player is a bit much.

Sap with dirty tricks has a 10yards range.
Magma totem 8yards
Fire Nova: 10 yard - CD: 10sec/6sec w talent/3sec w glyphe
Thunder: 12 yards glyphed
Earthbind totem: 12yards with talents and 10sec CD with talents

So there is a bad chance to hit the rogue with AOE damage alone.
In combination with an earthbind totem and the root talent it could work better.

rogues will become way more annoying in cata :-(
