Massive 50-100 boxing

I was talking to keyclone yesterday and he was saying he wanted to try a massive 50 person boxing group.


1 person 50-100 characters.

When: We need to think of a good time in the near future

Server: Mag

Faction: Horde

Class: Have not decided But everyone need to roll the same type and style

Time: We need input from you guys

How is this going to work?
Simple. Who ever wants to help archive this. You will need.
Keyclone
2+accounts
Basic Macro knowledge

Everyone will log into their accounts. Log into the server make a new character, make them all look the same and (not sure on a name yet) but name them all kind of the same.
Start up keyclone with the ports configured so that when Keyclone (rob) logs into his keyclone account he will have access to control your characters provided if you set up all the key binding up and ports ect.

Why do this?
Why not? It will be a new milestone with dual boxing wow.
1 person 50-100 accounts controlled

Rob would you like to add anything? Am I missing anything?

Since everyone will be making NEW characters so that they all are the same, you could do this with several trial accounts. This could considerably lower the number of people required since some people that 5-box with separate machines could theoretically support more accounts on one box.

Just figure out the maximum number of simultaneous WoW programs your machine can support and if you have fewer accounts, just make some trials.

cool stuff, was debating with somebody about the possibility of doing this via the internet. Ill try and see if i can make a trial account on a us server and perhaps take a look at what you guys are doing, would be so awesome to take a look at something as nuts as that :P.

Im in 3 accounts

i've been thinking about this for a while. i did something like it with 2 friends before, but i think 25+ people would be just insane. who knows how many clones we could pull together. i'd hope for 100+

either way, it would be a first on the net. we could use a couple of video journalists to capture the event ;)

we would need to try a couple of dry runs before the big event. i'm thinking at least a week before we do it... this should allow for people to spread the word and get their characters up and ready.

we also will need to figure out what the base character is going to be. i'm thinking mages.. because 100+ fireballs would be just insane. but i'm open to suggestions. we will also need a page to detail out the macros needed.

if anyone wants to choreograph the events... please speak up. (where are we going to go.. what are we going to do)

coordinating via vent would also be a must

And I don't use keyclone.

you know... we could probably also use an 'escort' from a few multi-boxer groups (level 60+)... just in case we get jumped ;)

I would be all for it just to see how it would work. We would obviously all roll horde, but which race? And if we do it I think we should do heroic Hogger

I think this idea rocks... happy to join in or provide an escort with my 70's...

BTW this reminds me of a time when Blackrock was having major performance issues, queues, crashing all the time etc. I whole bunch of people rolled Gnomes on Argent Dawn (an RP server of course :)), created a guild called "Exiles Of Blackrock", and staged a massive sit in protest. Seeing all the level 1 gnomes running around was hillarious!!

First I want to say I love the idea but I don't see any way this could be within the TOS. The main issue is using other people's accounts to do it. I can't think of any argument that could be made where remotely controlling OTHER people's accounts through third party software would be acceptable to Blizzard.

I believe this is technically against the ToS as well.

You, and only you, can be under the control of a character on your account*

*Caveat: Your minor dependent child can play on your account, as they are unable to sign the contract themselves.

I think its a great idea :) jsut make a caracter look and post a screene so every one can see what to make :)

umm lets all make a new email... and make 3 trial accounts... or you could make more emails thus more trial accounts. but i think its a 3 account limit per email?

My personal opinion is that it would indeed violate the TOS for the reasons stated above in this thread. I'd hate to see an event like this be used to throw Keyclone into a light where it can be used to violate the TOS and users suffer for it... unlikely I know but still, a small chance none the less...

hmph.... i think junx is probably right. i'm going to check a few sources to see if i can get more info.

Hmm obviously it being American servers is a problem for some of us but it should be good to see some videos.

Only a few points I'd like to mention though,

Firstly as well as people making the characters you will want them to create focus / follow macros etc and put them to specific keybindings otherwise it's probably going to fail or take you forever to set up.

Secondaly and maybe more importantly, the event will be wide scale and will obviously (well most likely) get a lot of attention.

What you are doing is against the EULA ? It's against the rules to have access / play someone else's account and although you will not be logging into those accounts you will be controlling them. I would gather this could be a very difficult situation and although I would love to see it I would make sure we have examined the EULA definitions on account sharing before anything like this is done. The last thing we want is 100 + accounts being banned and Dual-Boxing breaching the rules.

(I'm not stating it is against the EULA but questioning - Just in case it's not clear).

Two potential problems with using existing individual accounts:

1) ToS violation and ban.
2) Security and compromised account information. I don't mean Keyclone ripping our accounts, but someone getting inside the thing with the information we discuss openly here. WTS 4x gladiator shammy group, $$$$!

I think a load of trial accounts registered with a load of different IPs and then used on a load of different PCs via keyclone would work and not be against the ToS. Preparing a list of account names and passwords and assigning them to the community members who are happy to have their client installation and net infrastructure used for this is also trivial.

As far as responding to a GM query goes, you would have to have the people who provide the PCs monitor them and be in Voice chat with 'the controller', just to be able to do something about it.

I love this idea, but I also agree about the violations. Maybe instead of just asking a GM if it's ok, we could invite one or two to join in :) and if everyone is on vent, we could just call it what it is, a test. If everyone that participates gives verbal agreement on vent with a GM on vent with us, would that bypass anything that could get the accounts banned?

I can see that they would use that for people spam creating accounts or people with static IPs, but, this isn't viable for dynamic IP assignment. You may not get the same IP when you release/renew.

So, you may be right, but, I can't believe that's ALL they have in place. Granted, they're probably mostly trying to stop gold farmers/spammers who would work for a company with a static IP *shrug*

On topic: I think this is a cool idea but, I'd hate for this to go against the TOS or something and get us all in trouble.

There was another situation very similar to this, where the Ironforge beginner area had 50-60 new chars cause of a server down. Then a couple of lvl 70 horde showed up and they all turned on them. Was funny to watch everyone res chain back to keep a constant barrage of fire on this 70 druid.

If it isn't against ToS and it can be done... I say get 50+ mages and go hunt out some horde to swarm. When the chars die, just have the actual account owner run them back to the main, res, and reset the follow.

I dont see how this is an issue.

He is talking about us logging on ourselves, then running keyclone and letting him control our characters.

He (and the keyclone program) would not know anything about our passwords/logins.

As has already been mentioned, it is worth seeking Blizzard approval.

but if granted, I will create some trial accounts on US servers and join in ;)

Some ideas:
1) A Zerg into the alliance area of 50-60 level 1's should happen whether we use keyclone to make them all controlled by one character or if we each are controlling our own five man.
2) Before it happens (either way) we should co-ordinate our names (as previously mentioned), race and class.
3) A guild should be created to reflect the absurdity of it all. I was thinking <Deadman's Party> if we go undead or <Stampede> for Tauren.
4) Pre-make macros for everyone to use. One attack macro (of course) but the fun ones should be co-ordinated as well. Dance, wave, charge... that type of thing, all of them in a macro form with /target focustarget at the beginning so that we can zerg with love as well (can you imagine 50 undead females blowing a kiss to one human male all at the same time?). Even if the Keyclone idea is shot down by blizz having us all focused on one player (keyclone since it's his freakin' idea) and assisting that player would make it very much fun.
5) Yes, ventrillo or teamspeak or even skype would be necessary so that KC can shout out "ONE" and we'll all hit key 1 at the same time.
6) It might be fun to get the entire group up to 10 (not a huge time investment) before actually doing the zerg... this way we can have more spells and abilities at our disposal.
7) On looks: I know from experience (as you all do) that finding the same exact look for characters can be difficult due to different monitors, resolutions, color depths, etc. I found it easiest to find the most unique of the choices and count left or right from that position for each attribute. (Example for hair: Find the spiky Mohawk and click the left arrow three times.) Whoever organizes this should keep this in mind when creating the look for the team. Keep notes on how to find the exact look they created so that we can all duplicate it. Some of those undead skin shades can look exactly alike when in the character creation screen but slightly different when in game.

Finally I don't think you will get a NO from Blizzard... I also don't think you will get a YES. I think it will be so vague (if they answer at all or even understand the question) that most of us will be uneasy using the "over the internet keyclone" solution. I don't think this should stop us from achieving very close approximation to same look. KC says FIRE and we all hit our attack key? Come on, that is gonna look hella cool (yeh, I used the word hella... sue me).

How ever it goes... I'm down like a clown with my five accounts.... unless blizz says no... then I'll be making some temp accounts ;)

KC controlling all 50 accounts would be against the tos , BUT , KC co-ordinating everyone in Vent is not :)

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster ;)

While it all sounds like a good idea, I think its maybe sticking your heads out too far. As has been commented in other posts, Blizzard doesnt see dual boxing as a problem at the moment, but if the mighty roar of the masses comes, we all know what will happen. I am not saying we should cower from the light of day, but to publicly make an event such as this may well draw a little too much attention.

In the end it is truly up to the individual, but I think maybe this isn't the wisest idea.

I'm more than happy to recieve criticism for my stance in this case, but in the end I would prefer to be happy what I am doing out of the limelight than I would risking actions by jumping up and down saying look at me.
