how long it take?
that looks fun. can you share your strat?
only took about 12 minutes, would have been faster if I didn't screw up and nearly wipe when he became active.
Strat:
place slaves just inside door, in front of first add. tank aggros add and waits for the rest of the adds to come to him and get some threat. back up slaves so their back is against the door. The adds can be really annoying because they'll cast dark mending (heal) on themselves and each other, so to fight this I had wind shear on round robin so I'd only use 1 at a time and I also used heroism and fire elementals. When Magtheridon became active I still had 2 adds + 3-4 abysmals up and I wasn't paying enough attention and Mag walked up and cleaved my team, lost the lock, and 2 dps shaman right off the bat. I ahnked the 2 DPS shaman and got them healed up. from there it was a tank and spank outside of the falling ceiling which kinda hurt. To give you an idea, healer never went below 90% mana, this was very easy to do, the only reason I had issues was because I didn't pick him up fast enough. Just keep him faced away from the group because he'll cleave.
3 epic gems and 2 rares from the gem bag, (all BC gems) so not bad for vendoring.
thanks for the tip, tried him after your first post and lost healer from trash, then followed your strat and it was pretty simple fight, just a mana race
500 gold for 10m work is always nice :)
I've never actually seen the fight, what's it compare to as far as difficulty heroicwise?
i 7 boxed it.. thx for info! Any other BC bosses besides Mag and the two world bosses ( i farm the two world bosses ), that are boxable? ?
Even better - There are a lot of level 70s now days. Bring one and have them buy the tolkens. I'm sure you'd get more that way and a few random level 70s dusting a few heals wouldn't hurt. Just an idea.
You can also boost someone in kara for payment.
do you even bother to click the cubes?
You have to click the cubes?
I usually enter, blow the ads and then the boss. the key is to pull the first ad with something that is not a stun or silence. Then use the stun or the silence when it tries to heal. If you have a belf or tauren tank it's even more easy with the racial silence/stun.
The ground falling is nothing complicated. I just eat the damage and chain heal.
Without the ads, this boss is doable with a single prot paladin.
i wonder what other bosses are easily boxable for gold in old content. I've thought about trying an mc run or something but the attunements i think i only have on a couple toons.
Yes, the "correct" way to do this is when he's casting blast nova that everyone clicks the cubes (ALL the cubes) and it interrupts him. Obviously this isn't needed at 80. At 70, most groups would wipe if more than 1 blast nova was allowed through.
MC is very easy, not exactly great for gold depending on your server though. Lots of old world mats if you think there is a market on your server for them. Otherwise MC is fun, I enjoy it. Takes me about 2-3 hours on my team just cause I'm not familiar with the instance. Gruul's Lair is harsh because so much is going on with the first boss. I would imagine Hydross in SSC would be 5 boxable, but I haven't tried. Doom Lord Kazzak is pretty easy + he drops level 70 BoEs.
The whol point of this is to encourage people to go out and see what else they can find, I know I'm going to be trying a few other things :_D
DLK and the Felreaver boss is SMV are both easy to farm..both drop BoE epics that sell for 100-2000g and both drop close to 500g. I find them up a few times a month.. so hard to farm them reliably, since they are random spawn timers ( around 3-5 days )
I farm mc, bwl and some of zg every week for other reasons and get a fair amount of money from it. Takes long enough that dailies would be far better money wise, but there are certain pieces of loot I'm trying to get (and helping a friend get) so I'm not too worried about it.
Oddly enough I did Mag last week too. I just steamrolled it, no strat really. just pew pew, and collect lewts. I rediculously overgear it, never got less than 75% hp on any toon... cake walk. Gonna be doing it once a week for sure for easy gold. Maybe ill get my DK leveled so I can run 2 groups a week. an extra 1k gold a week for 20 mins of work mmmm sexy.
Would be fab if somebody would fraps it.
cheers
I plan to when i get round to trying it.
What you guys do about the Deathcoils from the Warlocks? I think they chained it on mytank, then adds gang-raped the rest of my girls.
Maybe just bad luck for me then.
I've noticed if you tank the trash packs a good distance from you're team, only your tank is likely to be hit with the death coil. The worst case I've seen doing this is they'll aoe rain of fire on your team (easily healed through) and death coil / fear the tank and go after a group member. They don't do a lot of damage to a non tank so long as you're on top of heals you should be fine. The only time i wiped on trash is when I was a bit overzealous and charged in to the first 3 pack while the roaming 3 pack was coming up behind. It was a chain death coil / fear fest until I wiped.
Thanks for the idea to do this, worked like a charm for me! Easy $$.
The only mistake I made the first time was not clearing ALL the trash before starting the event. Then trash came and chain feared my tank. With all trash cleared prior to starting the event it was easy. I just killed all the channelers I could without bothering with interrupts much then when Mag came free I just ignored the channelers and adds (except taunting any lose ones to my tank) and just burned Mag down. Killing the remaining mobs after Mag was down was easy.
i made the same mistake of not clearing all the trash too the first time lol.
Those damn healers are impossible though, 75% of the time it's not the guy i'm targeting that's casting the heal and I just fight them forever and they go from 20% to 100% health constantly.
How do you guys handle silencing the caster that's casting the heal if it's not your target and they are all clumped up?
I did it with 2 teams last week and once i learned a couple of things it went pretty easy. Don't let them get behind your tank (no dodge etc) and I still hate my DK as a tank. I also found it to be much easier on non resource limited characters like pally's/hunters/rogues because my dps casters tend to run out of mana after a while.
So what exactly gets the 500g from this run?
Well I should be able to do that on my pally, 3 shammies and disc priest :P
If nothing else I will end up with a repair bill lol
Thanks for the tip dude. I'd totally forgot about Mags!
Running 4 druids and a paladin I pretty much just had to let the adds live. Wiped twice and got him down the 3rd try with all adds up- let them kill me came back to loot. So a bit sucky if you don't have a way to down the adds.
Have to think of some more strats for my team. It's a problem I've run into more than once not having interrupts. Less-Rabi *cough*
Anyway I love to go back and do old stuff. Kara, Zul Aman, Zul Gurub all are easy money. MC also and once you know it takes less than 30 mins. BWL is great $$ but you need at least 1 other person. AQ20 is another.
I really hope that in Cataclysm I can get strong enough to multibox Tempest Keep for the Ashes/Pheonix mount. Boxing TK would be like the apex of my multiboxing career, lol.
I did alittle better once I got all the trash down. 4 of the 5 summoners were up, the adds weren't too too much of a problem for me I don't think. The clothies wiped on Mags, didn't pick him up in time. (Fail tank lol) got late so I had to quit.
full clear on my first try. I'm making this a regular thing :)
it's way easier using pallies than casters. Never running out of mana and the constant trickle healing is enough. I did this with dk/pally team using a pally as the tank, no healer and it was cakewalk. Went back with druid tank, 3 shammies and a druid healer and couldn't beat it. The adds just kept getting off heals and when magtheridon came i still had 3 spellcasters and a couple infernals up. My casters were pretty oom by then and healer eventually got agro and just went poorly. I might try it again with some rogues or hunters and see if I can develop a second team that isn't so mana dependant.
The strategy you gotta do if you can't kill the adds before Mags. You just have to let the adds live and muscle your way through it.
Don't waste mana on the healer mobs. You can't kill them without some sort of interrupt/wound poison/mind numbing poison/mortal strike abilities. Position your team then kick back and gain as much aggro as possible with your tank while waiting for Mags. Just use enough mana to keep everyone topped off.
Then when mags wakes up just concentrate on him and you should have enough mana to get the job done. Not saying this is an easy strategy but it worked for me. First time I'd made the mistake trying to dust the adds and just ended up going into Mags with half mana.
I let the elementals beat on my shamans constantly so they can eat the water shields. Their damage is offset by the healing totems anyway. I usually just let 2 fire eles beat on the shaman until mags go down and just keep refreshing water shield as necessary. pally tank with 3 ele shams dps and ele heal. I come out of it with about half mana on my shams (spending mana tide once [50% mana] during the fight).
Like Jinkobi - i don't really care if i down all healer prior to activating mags. I just down whatever i can and then focus on mags. Last night I ended up with 3 casters and 2 eles after mags went down. My fight lasted 6+ mins. Not as good as last week but it's a no-rush/chill fight anyway.
Magtheridon is dead.
After trying the various methods here, and having zero luck at letting the channelers and the infernals live. I blew all cooldowns right at the start, Heroism, and a couple I had to dust off,Army of the Dead, and Fire Elementals. The channelers went down very easily. Then it was a matter of beating my mana regen. The shaman stood around a bit, but my mage and priest finished him off.
Thanks for all the strat ideas.
/Hats off
got it down too in 2nd try with pal + 3 ele :-)
the shamans died once, because i forgot to heal ;)
took me 19min since i forgot to refresh mana-shield and the shamans were constantly oom, so i had to use most of their mana for healing.
thx for the idea :-)
I started throwing my 80 rogue in my group in place of one of my DPS druids. WOW what a difference a little poison makes...
Just putting my rogue in the adds went down very fast and then it was just Mags and me. With no adds the difficulty level went down to nothing, lol.
GIEF heroism!!!!!11 My dk - 4x druid team just can't kill channelers maybe one if i'm fully buffed and i blow all my cd's... and with adds my healer needs to use too much nourish/regrowth to my other druids so she runs out of mana and my dps starts to drop down
Try and time your innervate where you can get it off twice throughout the fight. Also that flask that regenerates mana helps quite a bit and isn't very expensive. If you know you can't kill the channelers then just save your mana for Mags.
The damage you take varies each fight because of the ceiling falling, number of adds getting off the tank, and if you're in the wrong place then you take a big hit and waste a ton of mana.
well let's see how it goes after next reset :P still have few good toughts for heal/dps rotation, gears etc... repair costs for this week about 2k :P one 1000 for mags and other for bwl :P
