Avoiding being flagged AFK

Well, I just ran an AV where this idiot starts yelling about my group before the game starts....im taking up spots blah blah blah...
I just ignore him and wave....but when the game starts ALL my guys are flagged with the afk debuff. Somehow he got some others to join along. But, no big deal casue i found some horde to kill. After I procede to wipe their group at Balinda....I head back to Dun'Baldar to back cap all that stuff.

Half way there i run into a group of horde....they kill two of my guys while my other three keep holding back wave after wave of horde rushing. Well, they end up wiping me, and I rez only to realize that the two that had died earlier got kicked for afk'ing. OMFG.....this pisses me off to no end. Come to find out, the idiot is on my server.....
The crazy thing is that I always play at the same time at night, have close to 250 AVs under my teams belt.......and 95% of the time I am 1st - 5th place in total honor at the end of the game(win or loose). How people miss this has got me puzzled.
I help Ally out greatly on my Battlegroup........and have alot of fun doing it. But this fricken 10sec AFk debuff has got to go.

Copy paste this into a macro for all your chars, hit it if anyone gives you grief (most effective at the start of a battle 2 seconds after the gate opens). Wow players can not be reaosned with, just get revenge and smile. This macro reports every single person in the BG afk, and if all your chars do it, everyone will get the debuff.

I had macroed my buttons so i could report guys, id wait till they died and flag em right then.

For that macro is there any way to set it so that you don't report your guys?

I don't see the logic of using this macro. Why would you want to report everyone afk on your own side. and potentially lose the BG because of it, not to mention it includes your own characters.

I see no gain, and only benefit the other faction.

Can only agree, besides that you'll only get grief more then anything else. Unless they're unable to figure out that the boxer probably did it.

Because of it people won't be able to rush to DB/FW but have to stop to kill a horde/alliance to get rid of the debuff.

Long term, I don't see a point in the macro.
Really, you are forcing your team to engage in combat, instead of do whatever it takes to win the game.

Short term, the macro rocks.
If you are reported prior to the match starting, you can return the favor to the person who has reported you.
Since you are reporting everyone, you are sure to catch the people who have reported your toons; others are unfortunate casualties of the /report wars.

I would/will add this to my repertoire on my pvp teams.
In the event that some idiot decides to report my team, I'll return the favor.

But is there a way to evade reporting your team? Or does it flat out report EVERYONE.

Lets not discuss ways of overcoming game AFK mechanics.

Keep your team in combat, preferably against opponents who will either kill your team outright or who are not a challenge.
Either way, your team remains in one place.
And being in combat (with an opposite faction toon) will clear the AFK Flag.

If you actually do go /AFK, nothing to stop that.
But its a good time to get a sandwich or use the washroom.

I'd advise not using a macro that reports everyone AFK. It could be considered griefing and might lead to a ban - especially as you are abusing your 5 chars to do it 5 times. As such it might fall under the forum rules for discussing exploits as well

This sort of thing is easy to get away with once or twice, but if a bunch of boxers start doing it and Blizzard get a lot of complaints then it might get Blizzard to look into their position on multiboxing.

Dont see where anyone has tried to overcome the afk mechanics, just how to word the script in order to not report his own team.

If you right click on your game map at the start area on the players, it will bring up a large box of player names and you can click send notification for all. This is no different.

There are addons that will automatically flag people for non participation, they are not considered griefing. And reporting people 5 times on 5 different people means little. The players are considered individuals, whether its coming from the same PC or not.

Boxers could do this all day, in fact it would probably promote better starting participation from players. There is no need to instantly begin defending towers, even pre-mades don't do that. Make people get into the fight and send a few opposing force back to their start, help cap the graveyards and the bunkers.

When my active toons (not necessarily killing, but pursuing objectives which will win the BG) are AFK flagged while clearly not AFK...

And I ticket this as wrong.
The GM's basically say, the mechanic is working as intended... feel free to post on the suggestion forum if you have an idea on how to change this.

If a drop in the sea (boxers) complain, its no big deal.
I'd tend to think, if thousands of players complain of being AFK flagged when they were not AFK, the system might change.
Then again, it might not.

the kind of people that continually flag all your characters afk, over and over simply can not be reasoned with. You either have to leave and find another group in 15 mins, use the above macro to report everyone afk, and potentially lose as legitimate players get booted (like that rogue that ninja caps stuff, he's never in combat, etc)

OR

nuke every last enemy you see, run straight toward them, and just keep dying. Either you will cause your side to bleed resources and lose quicker, or you will slow the enemy down as much as possible, while keeping yourself in combat and avoiding getting kicked.

What I do when i lose a guy, is turn on autorun, and try to get him back to my main team, even if he dies again. Or i just suicide the rest of me so i can rez all my guys at once. Put the bashers on ignore, or better yet, use vanasKOS and add them to the hatelist, so you can still see if they rally the group against you to be prepared to stay in combat.

First, I have to laugh at the quote, "The rest of me." I've used that in vent a few times and got a good laugh.

I found the easiest way to regroup your team in AV if they get sent to different GYs is to use your trinket and get them all back to the base. Not to mention, if you've already been in battle long enough for them to get split up, you can almost guarantee some opposing faction in your base which will keep them from flagging you as well.

In AV, the trinket is an excellent resource for regrouping.
Even if you were to never fight, and just broadcast spacebar to jump (not go AFK), and trinket-hearth to clear the AFK flag, you'd stay in the BG indefinitely... which is an option, if you have an idiot flagging you even when you participate.

Unfortunately, we don't have another mechanic like this in the other BG's.
But they're small enough (mostly), to get into combat fast if you have to.
