Info from the link above
We have several changes planned for Battlegrounds in the next minor content patch and would like to share them with you now. This patch will be available for public testing and we encourage you to participate, queue up and provide some feedback on these changes.
- Firstly, say goodbye to Battleground Marks of Honor. We feel this currency system is a bit outdated and are getting rid of it. Any items which require these marks as currency will have their costs adjusted appropriately to remove this requirement. The quest NPCs will still be available to award players Honor for turning in leftover marks, but this is only to help players clear this expired currency.
- Next, the Battleground holiday weekend will now be denoted as "Call to Arms" in the Battleground tab and Calendar. If you prefer a specific Battleground over all others, look for those words next to its name to determine whether or not you'll receive bonus Honor. The bonus awards for Call to Arms Battlegrounds have been adjusted.
- Winning a Call to Arms Battleground for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
- Additional Call to Arms Battleground victories after the first win for a player that day will award them with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
- Losing a Call to Arms Battleground will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
- To bring the rate at which players obtain PvP rewards with Honor more in-line with the rate at which players obtain PvE rewards via the Dungeon Finder, we'll also be increasing the amount of Honor awarded for an Honorable Kill by 100%. In light of this, the amount of experience provided from an Honorable Kill, and the amount of Honor awarded for completing the Wintergrasp weekly quests, have been reduced by 50%.
It's important to note one thing about these 50% decreases. All Honor awarded for completing objectives in Battlegrounds and Wintergrasp is actually based on an Honorable Kill conversion rate. So if you destroy a tower in Alterac Valley for example, the Honor you're awarded is actually based on a flat number of Honorable Kills. Since Honorable Kills will now award 100% more Honor, completing such objectives will also award more Honor. This is why experience gains based on completing Battleground objectives and Honor awarded from the Wintergrasp quests are being decreased by 50%.- Now that we hopefully have your attention, we're pleased to announce the implementation of the Random Battleground system! This system will work virtually the same as the Random Dungeon option in the Dungeon Finder. Players can queue with a group of up to five players for a Random Battleground in the Battleground tab. As with the Random Dungeon option, the Battleground chosen will not be revealed until players zone into the Battleground for which they are selected. The bonus rewards for this system are identical to the updated Call to Arms bonuses.
- Winning a Battleground using the Random Battleground option for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
- Winning additional Battlegrounds using the Random Battleground option after the first random win will award players with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
- Losing a Battleground using the Random Battleground option will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
- When using the Random Battleground option, players will not receive additional rewards if the Battleground chosen is under the effects of the Call to Arms bonuses. In other words, the bonuses do not stack. In addition, if a player has been rewarded 30 Honorable Kills worth of bonus Honor currency from either the Random Battleground system, or the Call to Arms Battleground, he or she will be rewarded 15 Honorable Kills worth of bonus Honor currency that day for each additional victory. This applies whether the Random Battleground system is used, or the Call to Arms Battleground is chosen specifically, as a player cannot be rewarded the full amount of bonus Honor more than once per day.
All of these features and changes will be available in the next minor patch which should be hitting the public test realms in the near future. Please help us out by testing this system and providing your feedback so we can make some fine-tuning adjustments before the patch's release.
Thanks for the link.
This doesnt seem confusing at all, nope.
Ah that sounds great. So upping the honor, getting rid of marks, and a random queue system. BGs might actually be fun, or at the very least, an efficient use of time.
The current situation is so bad I only do the daily or BG for fun. You can get double or triple the honor just farming heroics.
Scared me when I first read WG quests -50%, but it's actually a net change of zero so no problem.
After re reading and understanding a bit better, this is really a pretty good deal. 62 per honor atm, 124 honor per kill after this is implemented.
I would imagine they will have to increase the honor cap soon with this change.
Yea, I don't know if I like that or not. Since I started leveling my Alliance shaman (42 with no RAF--woot!) I've only done WG when I see it pop and I'm not in the middle of something. The random thing sounds neat, but also WSG and AB can be a problem with a 5 box.
I don't like this patch. More honor gained from HK's -> Brainless honor farming incoming. I'm happy i'm leveling a pve team atm. Because now there's hardly a point in trying to do objectives in BG's, just joining the asshats farming HK's is more effiecient for honor.
Aparantly you didnt read it entirely.
They explain in the 2nd walloftext about how honor gained from objectives is based upon a honorkill count.
Meaning that while they up the honor rewarded for a honor kill they are ALSO upping the honor reward for getting an objective.

I wonder if they're doing this to find out if they have a BG version of oculus (i.e.: one that everyone /afk's out of immediately). :P
This sounds like its gunna be fun.
My least favorite is Strand of the Ancients. On the joy scale it is much less than Isle of Conquest.
I think this will make ALL BGs much more populated. Instead of mindlessly grinding AV - you're going to get flavor in all BGs - and players of all skill levels all over the place.
It might kill premades too, as you won't get a bonus if you skip the random.
Now they just need a "queue me up for a random whatever" option - meaning instance OR battleground. :D
*sigh* now I wish I had chosen to play through my mages from 60 instead of my PvE team first.
I hope they do increase the maximum honour you can have, otherwise the cost of items are just going to cap out at 75k
On that note, it may be worth farming BGs now for tokens, some of the more expensive token items(IE Mounts) may end up being much lower in cost when the change hits and so the honour gained from the tokens may be worth it.
At the very least it will be a bunch of free gems when the change hits.
av zerg incoming...
They shouldn't take away the marks. Instead, they should add more shit for you to use them for. This way there would be more BGs up while leveling up. Now everyone will focus more on grinding AV and WG instead of hitting up the others while leveling. If they'd add more gear for you to purchase with these marks, or incorporate them more into the game, then maybe you'd see more people running BGs. I know while leveling up my teams, I'd constantly check to see if any where running, so I'd have something other than questing to get me leveled up. Sadly, the time of day I was/am always on sucks for running BGs cause there's never any up for the brackets between 20-60. They should add a long ass quest chain for the pvp aspect where you'd have to collect both honor and marks to turn in to complete the quests, like collection quests we have now, but aimed at PvP instead. I've suggested this on the forums, but yet people wanted to flame it, those that did respond. Plus, this could also reward players with more shit that can only be gained from PvP instead of just the endgame gear or what there is now. Maybe new titles, mounts, non combat pets, something along those lines.
I love these changes. It's going to pay out to just que up for the randoms--You're basically going to be getting at least double the honor you are now. Double for kills and the objective's values were a number of kills which he said are also doubled. Plus you get the bonus for random que'ing!
I see this as the first step towards rated battlegrounds. I foresee them implementing a rating based off of how many wins/losses you have while random que'ing. It'd be easy for them to track objectives too.
That's true, but if you get rewarded 30 HK's for winning a BG, who's gonna bother running the flag/defending a base then if you can easily farm 60 HK's in the battle instead of caring about the objective. I'm aware that it fails a bit, since you also get honor from capping the flag, but i do think that is how most people will think. Especially since you're not guaranteed that you win the battle, where your HK's are guaranteed honor.
It'll probably make it quicker to get into a BG too for those who are using it to suppliment XP while levelling a new team. When I was doing my shamans, I'd initially hoped to level solely from BGs, but found the queue time to make that a no go. So I'd join the queue and then continue questing. With it being random, you'll get into one quicker in theory. Granted it might not yield as much xp/honour as doing AV over and over, but will still get you in.
I just want it to fix the queue times. Sit in AV queue for 18-25 min usualy. Im maxed out on gear and sick of heroics i just nee honor for wrathful offsets but at this rate will take forever!
Stone Keeper's Shards turned into the guy in Wintergrasp reward honor. 30 Shards = 2000 Honor.
I believe you are only rewarded 4 per boss though. So even in a heroic with 5 bosses you can't purchase 1 www.wowhead.com/?item=Wintergrasp Commendation. On the Bloodlust battlegroup [where Kicksome, myself, and numerous others reside] AV queues don't take that long; and when boxers unite it's tough to lose so you're pretty much guaranteed around 2000 honor per AV which takes about 15-20 minutes. If you're on a bad battlegroup I can see farming heroics being a better option than waiting in AV queues 20 minutes at a time.
I agree. AV que times for Reckoning Alliance side are 1-3 min. I have been getting an average of 1600 honor per win, 600-800 per loss. I will even get into an AV where the only thing horde does is run straight to Van and kill him within the first 5 min of the start. With Galv down and Balinda still up.....HOrde wins but gets ~300 honor.....Alliance looses and gets 800 honor. 800 honor for 5 mins is pretty dern good.
