3 Balance Druids?

Just looking to get into multiboxing.. and I would like to try a bit of everything with it. I'm very new at this, so I want the first go at it to be pretty easy (same classes)

So, I'm thinking of going 3 balance druids. Here are some reasons..

PVE
Casters are easy to level it seems. I tried leveling a couple rogues, but found that the slaves would run away with that whole 'interact with target' keybind.
When I get a bit more comfortable with it, I can try tank/dps or heal/dps etc.

PVP
Mostly looking at arenas here.. and I think that the idea of stealth and a suprise attack will help me get my feet wet in it. Probably not the best burst out there, but I'm hoping it will be enough coming out of stealth to get 1 person down while they are trying to get organized.....

Thoughts on this?

If you don't think it's a good idea.. any other 3 you would recommend for a newbie? I would like to try maybe ret pallies or rogues.. but again, I found that interact with target thing wasn't working for me all the time..

For pvp, boomkins severely lack bust.
At low arena ratings, anything can work.
It won't be competitive at higher ratings.

For battlegrounds, its a fun composition.
Three of anything focusing on one target is good.
There are a lot of toys which are fun.
You'll have a lot of AoE.

Feral cats x3, is an option too.

For optimal DPS of Boomkins, you need to manage Eclipse.
Well you can approximate it, with a castsequence.
3-4x Wrath and then 3-4x Starfire.
But if you ignore Eclipse, they won't be doing a ton of DPS.

I love boomkins and they're quite fun to play.
For PvE, gathering quests are easy since you can remain in flight form.
Lots of toys, treants is fun with five druids.
Starfall and Hurricane is a lot of AoE.
Typhoon on round-robin is fun to blast others off of cliffs.

Hmm.. sounds like it could be fun. You did comfirm what read about the lack of burst dps though, which I'm sure is pretty key in multibox 3 mans. I'll have to ponder it a bit.

Would you (or anyone else) have a recommendation for a better 3's team of all the same class? I mean I don't expect to get to 2500 rating or anything with it.. but I don't want to gimp myself right off the hope either with class selection.

Balance druids have been tried many times in arena and it's one of those comps that looks good on paper but doesn't really deliver.

The game is much more than just arena. Banking on high ratings for arena is not a good idea to start the team. Especially, if you are new to multi-boxing, you will get your hopes destroyed and think that you have wasted all those time leveling and gearing up the team.

For MBing in general, shamans are still king as I see it considering both PVE and PVP (bg + arena + outdoor pvp). Melee team is a new thing. We are all trying it. I feel like they scale better with gear than shamans, meaning they sux big time to start. pwn big time once I get gear. My shamans were ok even with lower gears.

As for playing 3s, since you are limiting to 3 of the same class. I don't think druids will work (get to high ratings). You are not buffing each other. And all 3 have the same problem. LOS. no protection against anything. High armor is all you got.

Outside of arena, druids are fun. Outdoor pvp king as they call it. I still don't know how they can attack me for a while and then instant fly form fly away lol.

For arena specifically, I suggest looking into shamans, warlock, mages for casters team. And paladins, rogues, for melee team.

Ya I mean I don't expect to be all uber in 3's with my class choice, but again, I don't want to have myself gimped out of the gate either.

Perhaps a 3 pally team then as I've already have a rogue, lock and shammy at 80 so would like something new.

So with melee then.. interact with target is 'the' command you need to use for your slaves correct? Is there still an issue with your toon taking off into nowhere sometimes?

Yup. They run off on average 3 key presses. Meaning you spam IWT 3 times. One of those 3 key press will make your toon go off in random direction.

To remedy this, you either spam IWT like crazy Or you spam follow like crazy after IWT. (Both will bring your characters back). As a result, your characters will run around their targets trying to melee attack.

Let's say your attack key is 3 (some kinda click macro) and interact with target is 2. You just do 2,3,2,3,2,3,2,3. Works well in pvp. Not so well when you need to put your toons behind the boss to avoid his frontal AOE. For that, you just spam 3 only.

Pretty much, have an IWT keybind which you spam.
And your DPS keys.

If you are using IS Boxer, you can go with "Steps".
Where press 1 is IWT.
And press 2 is your DPS key.
Then spam twice as quickly, or use up/down states.

If you integrate the keys like this (or use the penny glued across two keys method).
With IWT keybound to one key, and your DPS macro on the other...
You'd want a toggle to enable/disable IWT.
Since IWT is a keybind, we cannot really do this.
But IWT needs CTM (click to move) to be on, to have it move toons.
And we can macro CTM on and off.
/console AutoInteract 0 (off) and /console AutoInteract 1 (on).

You have the right idea then. For a serious PVP'er and for someone that likes arenas, I would recommend at least a somewhat viable comp from the beginning, or you're going to be severely limited on gear and just running the same BGs over and over. Any team that's arena viable is going to perform very well in BGs, Wintergrasp, and world pvp as well.

Obviously you won't need 2k rating to start gearing up - just being able to hit 1600 or so would get you a ton of gear you wouldn't have access to by just doing AV over and over.

I have a 5x set og boomkins at lvl 70 at the moment.

They are way better than my warlocks pvp wise and almost as anoyinh as the warlocks to the enemy :)

Of course my shamans are undisputed kings pvp and pve wise.

Good things about boomkins:

1 ) Instacast on the run dots (insect swarm and moonfire)
2 ) Oneshot everyone with startfire
2 ) Green bolts cannon with 1.5 sec (GCD) wrath cast.
3 ) Two instacast hots per druid in case of need

Bad things about boomkins:

1 ) Healing is not fire and forget like a full set of shamans casting chain heal and everyone in the group is topped again after a second. You will miss that when a spining warrior comes close to you.
2 ) No totems. Grounding a tremor totems make a BIG difference in pvp.
3 ) No pets instead of totems... the instacast 30 seconds forest is not a valid pet except for the lols. This means that when your group is swarmed by melee you will miss the handy magma totem.


If you have a shamans set boomkins are way inferior and not worth it. I am leveling a full set of druids because pve wise they allow much better raid healing than shamans. A multiboxer with 5 resto druids can easyli have a full 25 man raid topped without much problems leaving a single disc/holy prienst on the MT for the extra heals... just in case that 20 hots on the tank are not enough.

What I'll probably do is level a pally as master, and 2 rogues as main. That way I can heal the rogues when I need, faster mount speed and some buffs.

Then when I get to around level 70, I'll swap my pally for a level 72 rogue I have parked and level 3 rogues.

They will have the element of surprise I'm looking for to help get myself into the arena game.. and good burst as well.

Just waiting on my trial info for ISBoxer there so I can test out the plan.

I certainly don't want to dissuade you, but you're picking one of the harder comps as your first group. As long as you're patient I'm sure you'll get everything working well.

Hmm.. well I know I don't want to run shammies although they are apparently the king of multiboxing. Watched some videos and just didn't click with me.

As per the title, I had thought trying out 3 Balance druids (never played them), but word is no real burst so that's out.

I thought maybe 3 pallies (never played them), as I could potentially tank/dps/heal combo with them PvE wise. Watched that arena video in the movies section there where they owned, however the druid they killed right away apparently had no resil, and I don't know if I would like the strat of just running in on horses and trying to dps a target down asap.

So I gravitated to rogues where yes, I'm melee and it'll be harder for a nub like me then a caster would starting out, however I think that with patience like you mentioned I'll get the hang of it. I just think that ability to assess a given pvp (bg, open world, arena) situation while in stealth will be valuable not only learning about mulitboxing a bit better, but pvp as well.

However, nothing it written in stone quit yet and these comment have been very helpful. Keep them coming :)

consider specing them deep resto/ dot spec balance for arena.

for pure fun value I would recommend my druids over shammies any day of the week, sure the burst is not a patch on shammies, but stealthing your team into a bunker in AV and then popping Boomkin form and Starfire is a joy to behold.

Another class you might have over looked in a 3x combo are hunters (also if you pick Dranei you get limited healing as well in the form of Gift of the Naruu) serious damage and multi pet attacks.

I've settled on 3 rogues for the time being. Really it's going to give me the stealth aspect I want, along with the burst. This will mostly be for bg/arena/world pvp (whats left of it). Currently only lvl23 as I'm still learning the ropes with IWT, IS Boxer, Jamba etc. Fun stuff though.

I'm also going to level a more pve build with a pally tank, druid healer and some sort of ranged dps.. probably a shadow priest.
