Occulus new boosted rewards!

Okay, so now i need someone to help me figure out how the hell to beat the last boss. I've had a lot of trouble and have never beaten him. What color drakes work best? Is there a way to just do all one color to make multiboxing easier and zerg his ass, even if 3 or 4 peeps die?

Oculus Loot Improvements

This is a nice surprise for those of you that have actually gone through Oculus when getting it in the random dungeon part of the Dungeon Finder!

I think people will still bail on it. I will do it now for sure, I always could, just takes more time than I wanted to spend. But now it will be well worth it.

Is this still the best boxing tactic for Occulus?

Problem always with Occulus (as a multiboxer) is that it requires you to have a few special macros and bar configs, whether you do 5x bronze or a 3x red/2x green combo. Wasn't worth it really before this change, we'll see if its worth it now. You can actually blow through the instance very fast, ~20 mins start to finish.

I find it absolutely funny however that Blizzard has to go to these extremes (DONT LEAVE! MOAR LOOT GUYS!!). I know whenever I queue up on my solo tank warr and I get oculus, I instantly bail -- not because the instance is hard, but because the last boss is about tactics not brute-force with gear, so its super easy to wipe repeatedly, and people nowadays never seem to actually listen to anyone else. Even if you fully explain what to do, and it really just boils down to DPS BOSS FOLLOW ME WHEN I RUN AWAY, 99% of the time you get people who still die to dumb things.

I just followed Moos strat from his video.. I have also used the strat from the wiki.. i like the 5 bronze drakes best.

hehe, I love how hard they're trying to make Occulus more inviting. A lot of companies would just write it off, let players whine and try not to make the same mistake again. I have no doubt that we won't see another flying instance, but it's nice that they're still tweaking the one we've got to try to make it right.

That makes two potential shots at the Reins of the Blue Dragon per day. Awesome! I haven't finished my Occulus setup but this is a great incentive.

wheres the other chance? if you mean Up, thats a proto drake. Occ one is a blue "normal" drake

The first instance I got solo on my paladin today..... Occulus >.<

We ran through without issue, the sack of gems is lootable for each toon, so make sure you don't leave a toon's sack in the chest (lol). Mine had 2x www.wowhead.com/?item=Scarlet Ruby but it's probably random. I also got 2x extra www.wowhead.com/?item=emblem of triumph

I got this today on my 5 man group and went ahead and did it, missed the Make it Count timer by ~5 mins but I spent a good 10 mins on macros and stuff so should be ez next time. Did 5x amber, macros were as follows:

occulus1:

/target Ley-Guard
/cast Shock Lance

occulus2:
#showtooltip
/target Ley-Guard
/cast Temporal Rift

occulus3:
#showtooltip
/cast Stop Time


I put occulus1 as #1 button for char 1 & 2, and as #2 button for chars 3, 4, 5. I put occulus2 as #2 button for chars 1 & 2, and as #1 button for 3,4,5. I staggered occulus3 into button 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 -- so char1 had it in 3, char2 in 4, char3 in 5, etc.

I just ran up to the last boss, hit 3 (timestop char1), and just pressed 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2 with a 1 sec pause in between each key. Every time timestop was over I'd move to the next one -- 4, 5, 6, 7, 3, 4, etc. Boss was down in under a minute, just run away when he phase shifts.

Got a TON of scarlet ruby and other blue gems (awesome for alchemy xmutes!), 2 extra frost badges, and a single mount in one of the bags. Definitely worth it!

its sad that they have to go to these extremes just to get people playing it... but hey, whatever you gotta do. now if only i knew people willing to farm EoE10 to get that drake...

what do you do to make it so that your button inputs are used and not the new default ui hotbar that comes up when you mount a drake?

Most action bar addons will keep your regular bar there when you're in a vehicle and just pop up an extra vehicle one somewhere else. If you are not using an addon, then you'll be getting it switched.

Are you on a low pop server?

One thing I found about the blue drake that sucks. I got this a few days ago on one of my guys, and it's contained in the loot bag as already being soulbound to that toon (not tradeable). So to farm it for the entire team is going to take a long time and a lot of luck.

You know, I have no problems finishing Occulus when I'm playing solo. I'm trying to figure out why they are going through such extremes to get people to do it.

I mean, the vehicle idea was novel, but they should really take the hint and realize no one wants to deal with marginalizing their playstyle to play with a 3 button contraption or other.

Vehicles are a novelty, not a core mechanic. All Occulus and EoE really demonstrate is that no one likes being dumped in to these sorts of encounters.

Agreed Bigfish, it's like playing a character you don't want to play.

If the abilties they were given were in addition to it would be different. Maybe you could tank while on dragonback or similar and then require a button be pressed at a certain time. I think people would grasp that more.

Hi all. I didnt see anyone else posting this so not sure if it's a working as intended or a bug. and I almost hesitate to bring this up because I'm sure it'll be nerfed once it's common knowledge. But the new bonus lootbags? You know how it says it's soulbound?

Well it's not.

I just finished occulus about 5 minutes ago and was able to spoonfeed the extra bags to the baby hunter that i've subbed into my established group. nobody else really needed the triumph and this way my hunter got 10 extra triumphs from that one run. ^_^ I can provide screenshot if people need proof. But not sure if this is a bug or not as I know the bag says it's soulbound.

anywho, get it while it's hot. :P
