Ret - Cant Kill anyone yet lol!

Damn my rets man, Im in savage gear 2pc deadly and some titansteel. Fucking druids man I cant even kill anyone. Ive done like 12 matches overall and I got two people down.

Gotta get them upgrades lol, tried a heroic with my buddy was only pulling 1k dps on all 4 rets. This will change soon I win wintergrasp like 5-6 times a day at least. Overall it seems like its going good. Teams with paladins appear to be a small issue due to bop. Currently going to be trying arena with a mutilate rogue for MS and Snare, I figure if anyone can keep a target slowed down its them.

But for now we are progressing, bg's are a blast doing this setup. I recommend everyone give the 4x-5x melee a shot.

no matter how bad gear you have doing 1k is relly low, you must be doing something wrong.

are you sure that they are always in range of your target ?

I'm doing something wrong as well. My tank is dual spec ret and with a 3850 gear score I do 1.5k dps in heroics. I go ret when my buddies guild does a bunch of heroics in a chain. I haven't played ret since BC so I'm prolly doing it wrong ^^

this is exactly what the PTR enhancement shamans felt like.

I use something similar to this. In pvp, consecration is manual. I dont run the sound thing in the macro either. Even solo boxing my ret paladin, I pull 2.8-3.4k dps, and I don't feel I am very well geared. Says I have a 2369 gear score in mostly PVP.

1k is sustained for an entire instance of mobs, not just one bout. Saying you do "1700 dps" over a recount of like 25 seconds is kind of bogus. My paladins did like 2.1k dps to 1600 dps on ingvar, but overall for the entire instance they were about 1k.

Where my shamans with their gear will parse out an instance at about 2700-3000 doing spike dps of 4k-6k.

My paladins can`t even get to 1k. Tho some nice stun rotations help out there.

Some big geared guys like disp priests can be a bitch to kill.

I did some arena with 1dk, 4rets and won 5-10. With 1 piece deadly and heirbloom chest and weapons. Rest was quest green and blue`s. You can still kill some locks and mages in 2 globals with shit gear:D

Now I run 5 rets so I`ll have to see how it works tomorrow.

Just wondering what sort of click you have set up for your dk lead and what spec is it? I use click on my five upcomming dks. Still haven't fine tuned my commas but it seems when the frost and plague runes turn to death runes it seems my macro doesn't recognize the death runes for my macro. Has anyone else had this problem?

I thought they click macro was for "cursader strike => judgement => divine storm => consecuration". Those 4 abilities, you want them out ASAP. there are no controls for them. Maybe minus consecuration if you worry about mana or CC.

You want control for repentance , hammer of justice, bubble, cleanse, hand of ...etc. Those are not in the click.

I run DK main and the 4 Rets behind him. The Rets all have a /click for their DPS sequence and I manually control the DK's abilities. I don't know what problems people are having with /click, but my dps and my pvp effectiveness skyrocketed when I went to /click. Not having to worry about keeping track of two classes' dps abilities at the same time frees up so much thought for healing, shielding, snaring, etc etc etc.

I am on my way to 80 with this team also. Question for Mosg2, how is the burst with 5 dps vs 2 healers in this case. After the grip, do you need to repen the healers to make the kill or you can pretty much drop your target in 2 seconds with two healers free healing on him.

I think if in 3 seconds you can't kill your target, you are running the risk of losing one for your own due to no active healers.

100% Disagree, nothing is better than timing your own burst. I know exactly whats up and when to use it. As well, ret is FCFS so certain abilities will be off cooldown at the same time.

Feel free to look at my matches for 5v5, most were people in T9, warriors with 34k hp's one rogue had 29k. No way ill global any of these guys heh. Most teams I fought were double healer either druid + paladin or priest + paladin. Telling you, I was struggling on my shamans who are mostly furious geared just to get to 1k rating here on my realm.

I am not saying "click" is the ONLY way to go. If you can manual these skills, it >> click obviously. But you got so many skills here. And to be clear, we were talking 1 dk + 4 ret teams here. Not 4 or 5 rets, DK got so many cool downs and skills that need to be managed. It makes sense to use click for rets.

For 4 rets, I think you can manual everything for finer control. I simply don't have enough keybinds to manual all of them after I add a DK.

On a side note, for the 34k hp warrior, I don't think manual or click makes a difference here. Without on par gear (relentless + furious), I don't think you can (should) be able to kill the warrior.

Against an equally geared team I feel like I can gib my initial target while 2 healers are on him. My DK only has 450 res and my Rets 600. They're rocking Titansteel Destroyers and he's got a Destroyer of Humanity. As I type this I'm uploading my fraps of week three of my Rets in arena. Pretty much every team severely geared me. In almost every game I was able to DG them in and then get them to <10% but then they got healed up, escaped, etc. I think once 3.3 hits and I get a free 265dps 2h sword on everyone things'll be looking much better :)

Sure. No arguement from me that timing your burst is incredibly important. However, when you're running a mixed class team that ALSO requires you to spam one button constantly to work (IWT, or parkour button as it's known in my house) there's a trade-off you have to make--How many abilities can you manually control between all of your toons and still be efficient? Can you manually DPS with the Rets while you also run your DK? Then, can you heal each member of your team immediately? Can you roundrobin DS/DS with them too? Roundrobin Hammer of Justice? Roundrobin BE silence? Repentance rotation? Splash Repentance? Cleanse? Hand of Freedom? Wings? Hand of Protection your DK?

That's a *lot* of keys to hit when you consider you've only got two hands and you've got to be spamming IWT. When I was running just 4 Rets I manually controlled all the DPS abilities--I could keep everything in mind and had all my keys handy and I was comfortable with them. Once I brought on the DK it was too much for me to manage while manually controlling both the DK and the Ret's DPS. With a FCFS /click rotation I haven't noticed a difference in my burst and my sustained DPS has skyrocketed. I call that a success story.

I'm not saying a /click is the only way to go. If you can handle all of the things above plus whatever other super secret macros/strats you've got going for you, that's awesome. I can't... But I've found a solution that gets me even better results than I was and it's called /click.

If you arent already, I would look into the N52, and what mouse do you have? So far im pretty fortunate the only thing I click is DS / DS Macro, yeah I can see /clicking with a dk. But I would prolly try to find a way to click only him. As for most of the other stuff like healing / cleansing i let vuhdo control that and click for it right now. If you could upload the HQ video to like Warcraft movies or whatever place that would be good. Quality was pretty bad in the other all I saw was fat aliens with knightsticks =p damn alliance. Could you possibly update your signature to reflect your team so i can view your characters. Or do the wow characters on the side, it would help me alot I want to view the teams your fighting. The first team I saw the guy was using titansteel destroyer.

Are you using ISBoxer? I think that might be a better system for me but I'm scared to take the plunge since I've been doing Keyclone for three years.

Edit: I tried the n52 and It was pretty cool... Except for my tiny girly hands :/ It was really hard for me to get used to it. I might go get another one and really try harder to make it work. My problem is I'm hooked on WASD-type movement so the D-pad wasn't that useful for me. I'm sure I can make my controls more efficient. Much of my time at work is spent mentally debating the best way to set things up :)

Get your hands on a G15 (classic) 18 key keyboard. You can scoop em up on ebay as they don't manufacture the exact same one anymore. I am a WASD player and my left pinky has access to 18 different nearby macro keys without ever leaving home base. Also the MX revolution mouse is totally uber and I love it to death.

I use WASD on the n52, back on the D pad is tab forward is my auto run, and i dont use up or down. I find it way to hard to try and use the pad for movment since i find myself needing to move and jump at the same time.

I second the revolution mouse I use it over the lachesis that I have. Its got 11 buttons you can program to do whatever its comfortable (though i wish it had a wing on right side to).

I do use ISBoxer it is way superior to keyclone. For both of these things you just have to say "I wont stop till this works" and roll with it, 3-4 days later you will be all setup and thinking how could I ever go back.

A current G11 is the same as the original G15, except you lose the useless LCD screen.
And pay a bit less too.




As far as IS Boxer, Lax offers a 7 day trial.

It is a fair bit different from Keyclone.
With KC, everything is broadcast, unless you hit pause.
You can blacklist certain keys to not broadcast too.

With IS Boxer, your FTL DPS keys don't need assist macros, just drag them from the spell book.
You have Repeater, which turns on the KC style play.
You also have Keymaps, which are hotkeys that are on (broadcast) even with repeater off.
Keymaps can be whatever hotkey, and can execute whatever output on a lot of combinations such as: This screen only, Other screens only, Specific screens only, etc.
Keymaps take a while to get used to, but are amazing.

I'd suggest skimming through my guide, as it details a lot of modifications you can do with IS Boxer.
Placing IWT on your dps keys, so you spam them twice (two steps) is a really nice feature.
Step 1 - Sends IWT to all clients.
Step 2 - Sends the hotkey to all clients as the output.
