Did they change something with him this week?
For 2 weeks I farmed this place and maybe had 2 deaths each run but since Tuesday i have had a very hard time with him.
Maybe bad luck but 5 days in a row i have wiped numerous times costing me gold each heroic instead of making money sharding everything.
No change that I know of, and since you didn't say what you are having problems with, I'll just reply with what seems to be the most important tip i can give for that fight:
If you can, in phase two, kite him while aoeing the ghouls (alts on follow, at least this works if you have spammable aoe), that way you'll either kill them before they explode or be out of range of their explosion in time.
I occasionally feel the same way, that he's suddenly a lot harder. I think it's all just down to random factors, e.g. if he throws Desecration on your alts earlier than you expect, or too many ghouls decide to shift aggro all at the same time, or whatever. I actually wiped once on the champions this weekend ... missed two Colossos interrupts and that made all the difference. :)
Yeah it is always phase 2.
It seems sometimes they just all decide to rush my alts even though they have not done anything yet.
I concecrate, holy wrath, and taunt them all on me while being healed...then release the 4 fire elementals and still they all run to my alts.
Phase 1 and 3 (as long as 4 make it to this phase) are very easy
Ive found the ghouls stick to my pally like glue now that I use Seal of Command (which I really do recommend for heroics and trash btw)
I don't worry too much about rounding them all up. It just seems to be wasted effort, better to spend the time killing them so they don't blow up. After the knight goes down, I move to my slaves, drop Consecrate on top of them, then move back to where I was and pick em off.
Since I have melee DPS as well as ranged, I have my Tab key bound to Interact with Target for 2 of my team {I moved my "tab targetting" to one of my mouse buttons} and I bound tab to a blank bar slot on the rest of the team. I have an all-purpose macro that I drop in for targetting spam that's just
/target
/cast Hand of Reckoning
all I do is fill in whatever I need to find quickly when I run an instance. Ice Tomb, Web, Skadi, Summoned, and for this situation, Risen. It's come in really handy and I'd probably still use it like that even if I didn't have melee DPS.
Also, remember to drop nature res/cleansing totem and use shadow res aura if you aren't already. It will save you a lot of healing.
I keep consecrate up and use holy wrath when they've all spawned and focus on killing the black knight asap. That way they'll all explode at the same time, near the paladin. Sometimes (although rarely) one or two will reach my group (which is spread out and backed up against wall), but a well timed chain heal (timed to hit after explode) will fix it. I follow up with heroism for phase three (and use cleansing + resist totems and shadow resist aura during the fight). Frost and shadow resist is really handy for phase three, which can be annoying without a dedicated healer..
Yeah I dont bother with killing the ghouls it just wastes time imo - I want to be in and out as fast as possible :)
I pop 4x fire elemental while my dk tank unleashed the undead army.
My ghouls get aggro on his ghouls, while the fire elementals kill them.
I move my dk tank out of the circle of death and I cast thunderstorm on the 3 ele shaman's while moving the team back.
I then start dps-ing hard on the dark knight using every cooldown. "Usually" that works.
Sometimes i get aggro from the dark knight even with the army up. Or the shamans get aggro without casting. Or a few ghouls plain ignore me and my ghoul-army ....
Makes it an interesting fight each time around :D
btw,
do u cast any heals while in phase 3? Or just use chainheal on 1 to keep everyone topped off ?
I have my healer just spam chain heal and it seems to keep everyone up. By the time i finish phase 3 my guys are at 50-75 % health
I'll try the taunting macro and see how that works. I have never tried to just dps BK in phase 2, since the videos i have seen are always kill the ghouls. I would assume pally would round up mobs while shammies dps boss and when he dies just move group away from explosions?
What is the range of the explosions?
Also i have never heard of using seal of command while tanking. Why would you use it and is it able to hold threat on everyone?

Heh try this with a warrior tank, its really annoying as you cant just lay down an AoE ability to keep ghouls on you. For that reason I go the dps the BK route. Sometimes I win, sometimes I dont!
