Starting second team.... Warlocks and priest.

I've finally decided on my second team. It's going to be PVP focused - battlegrounds only.
I've decided I'm going to roll this team on a PVP server just for some world pvp opportunities.
It's going to be a long haul as I'm not going to RAF it this time, but I do have a 69 pally and a 55 priest on that server
I can use to instance boost/ support.

Levelling wise the locks are going to be affliction. I'll probably respec to holy or discipline.

I don't have a clue what spec to go come 80. I'll dual spec for sure :)

I love affliction - having a very mobile team with powerful dots sounds good, and i'm hoping the teleport ability
might help out to get away from pesky melee. One fly in the ointment would be the priest. No teleport so I would be leaving him to face the music. Then again howl of terror, deathcoils and psychic screams might allow me to only have to teleport from bladestorms.

Then again I think demonology could be good too. 4 x felguard + demon form and immolation aura, with a disc priest spamming holy nova might make melee trivial, and cut through casters.

Destro I've never got to grips with from the old days pre wotlk. I think it will have insane power, but what options do you have to get away from melee. Suppose you still have teleport.

So the only thing I would like feedback on - Those with practical experience of lock teams, what's the spec you run with in BG's and why?

You don't need to have them all the same spec. You could have one affliction. That one and the priest would have howl of terror and psychic screem to get rid of melee. 1 could go demonology for the felguard and demon form. The other 2 could go destro for the nuking.

I hadn't considered that.

I had the most success with dot and run as a single lock - but of course multiboxing with a healer means that I might not need to be quite so mobile.

I also had a thought. I believe interact with target and click to move works with a lightwell (I'm Sure I tried it).
So I could place the lightwell down near the teleport. If a bladestorming warrior comes my way, the warlocks could teleport, and I could target the lightwell on my priest and have it run towards the teleport. (of course follow might work as effectively). The warlocks could then interact with the lightwell too for some heals if need be.

Shame I've got all that way to go to try this stuff out.

There's other options. I've recently started a 2v2 team with my destro lock and a friend's dsic priest. I basically open up by setting the felhound onto a spell user to silence them early then open up on the other character with an immolate, chaos bold then conflagerate. If you had 4 felhounds, that would be a lot of spell interupts. I can only guess how fun it would be to see 4 chaos bolts insta-gib someone!

I think that all warlock secs bring something. 4x CoA and corruption would cause a lot of havoc, especially if you got it off on everyone.....lots of dispelling involved to get rid of that...giving you more opportunity to incinerate or shadowbolt.

If you're levelling in BGs then you'll have plenty of time to work on it. I'm actually levelling a second lock to dual box in arena :)

IMO in arenas/bgs I would run 1 destro and 3 afflic. UA protects your fears from dispell(not from trinket/other abilites) and since you will be using them alot that is the best way to protect them. SF is a great AOE stun for melee. I could see even running 1 UA and 3 Destro. UA would protect your immolates also from being dispelled. Really only have to get a person to 25% anyway with drainsoul execute.

I know I've been more lurker here than anything, but I've been boxing since EQ days, yes manually running two computers side by side frenetically moving between the two keyboards/mice (back then, long live Keyclone these days). Wow ismy game these days, and I have three well seasoned 5-box teams (1 horde shamanx4+pally, 1 alliance shamanx4+pally, 1 alliance dkx4+shaman), and just started up a new 5-box team with 5x warlocks (lv 63 right now).

I must say the 5x warlocks are a powerhouse for leveling. I run into a crowd of mobs, 5x corruption, next mob, repeat until everything in my field of view is dead, then I go back and loot. I will say that with some cleverness (required after the VW nerf) they can do instances at level, so far at least, with no real problems. Heroics are of course out of the question. I'm not worried since I can always 3x them in cycles with my paladin tank and one of my shaman on resto.

I made this team for PVP however, and am now sending them into AV to level them there. It is pure madness and fun. I target, introduce the target to CoA and Corruption, select next, and repeat. After about 6-8 seconds of 10 Dots ticking on them they all start dropping like flies. Every once in a while I'll throw a haunt or a UA in there. I also switch it up lately and forego the CoA entirely. I instead have a different curse on each lock to put on the target, with one key press the opponent receives CoA, CoEx, CoW, CoT, and CoE. This is mostly because they die too quickly from the 5x corruption for the 5x CoA to do any real damage. With the 5 different curses, no matter their class, they are largely debilitated in their retaliation by at least one (CoT for casters, CoW/CoEx for melee), and the CoE helps with the corruption damage (I think it does, I'll have to check now that I said it).

I wanted to touch a little on the UA protecting your fears. Honeslty, fear has become completely useless for me except as a spell interrupt. With 10 or 15 or even 20 (CoA,Corruption,Haunt,UA) ticking on them, a fear lasts a total of about a half of a second max before it breaks, because they are taking so much damage. Try it and you will see, even with the +20% fear damage inscription.

I have only tried full affliction spec with these 5, but I used to run a single warlock long ago, and no matter what spec I chose back then (I switched it up a lot), in PVP I wiped the floor with my opponents. You honestly cannot go wrong no matter what spec you choose especially when you are running 4x or 5x.

Two days ago I ran into rather striking opponent. My 'locks were 62 and geared with heirlooms, but fairly abysmal everything else (still ~400 +sp tho). This guy was a level 66 death knight, named Deathassazin (dragonmaw). He has equipped himself with mostly regular <70 instance blues that each have 2 or 3 gem slots. He filled these each with +sta gems, mostly solid majestic zircons (+30 sta). He has 16.6k hps unbuffed, and 18k hps lightly buffed. My 5x team took him down, but i had to focus strictly on him to do so and I usually lost one each time (he had this knack for being in every game I joined and started hunting me down each time). He had 4x as much hps as nearly everyone else and I just watched him mow down everyone in his path with complete impunity (except when he met me, lol).

This got me to thinking just how well this would work for 5x warlocks stacked with stamina. I'm still working on acquiring the gear, but the gems are basically free candy from dailies gold on my other two alliance 5x 80 teams, but I believe I can very easily get them over 10k hps each at level 63. Woe be unto AV horde in a few more days. :-)

While 5xshamans in AV is great fun, dropping everyone like flies with volleys of CL, 5x warlocks are becoming just as much fun.

I guess I should have just put UA protecting fears/dispells for an arena only. ;p AV is just SoC spam for locks

My priest+locks team is at 75, I leveled with demonology but yeah afflic for on-the-move pvp. Killed numerous bad 80s (after the blew their load 1 shotting my priest) with 4 felguards from 65-75. Kind of lost motivation to do anything with them with the AV nerf (not only the XP, but one of the most fun things for me to do is playing AV - queues at 80 can be kind of annoying now).

AV xp is un-nerfed. They put the xp gains back to where they were pre-nerf, and if you are wearing the two +10% heirloom pieces, xp is quite good (when you win well, when you get steamrolled it is kinda stinky).

I'm running 4x 80 locks in pvp right now, and my findings so far are affliction all the way.

On paper destro burstx4 sounds sexy... but its exactly like trying to play elemental shaman, except naked and with no totem protection. It just doesnt work very well.

I made a lock team for a breath of fresh air compared to my shamans. Affliction is so EZ mode to play and its super effective. I played Demo as well... and it's really lackluster even x4. Ya felguards are fun, but they won't solo any real geared enemies. Metamorphosis needs so much work to make it worthwhile. I liked it but truly it was only fun for guarding AV towers (4x immolation auras + hellfires = lol aoe dmg)

Your biggest weakness will be Fear.
Cleave type opponents will hurt, but you'll hurt them too.
Battlegrounds are a lot more random then Arena which will help you.
As you gear up, you'll become even nastier.

I like the idea of 4x Felguards each with Cleave against pesky melee.
Soul Link will help keep you alive.

I'd personally go Affliction with a team, although I was a 1-box Felguard lock through most of the BC raid content and that was quite fun too.

There's a video from a few years back, a Disc Priest (dwarf) and 4x Warlocks (gnomes).
It's very good quality and pretty fun to watch.

I'll have to look at that - i did see a pvp teaser video but not sure i ever saw the main one.

Snuck on tonight and got a quick couple of levels on the team. Still enjoying it - and now feel like proper locks with curse of agony and corruption.

Did they change it so you can only have one of a curse on a target - i did 3 curse of agonys and only one showed up.

Each warlock can do only 1 curse each....but saying that, other locks curses don't affect it. With my dual lock team, I always see the 2 curses. Perhaps your slaves weren't close enough...or just missed?

This was a consistent issue. Noticed it first on curse of weakness (only curse i had :) ).
I then used my curse of weakness macro to create the curse of agony macro - and I suspect that there is a syntax error in there as the macro was cut and pasted.

Obviously at later levels I'll be able to whack on Agony, tongues and weakness (and when they join my fourth) elements.

Strange. My warlock team (only 2) has no problems wtih both of them putting on CoA at the same time. For levelling all I'm really needing to do is corruption from them both and let the felguards finish them off. I'm I'm doing a group of mobs, I'll do corruption and CoA on them all to finish them off a wee bit quicker.

You can only have 1 curse up per warlock. So if you choose to do curse of Elements,tongues or weakness you cant do agony.

I've been thinking about the priest / 4 warlocks idea but how does it do in arena? Or just replacing the priest with another person healing?

I'm also going this way if not for another thing just for fun.
What racials would you reccomend? I'm thinking about undead for the "double trinket".

Regarding professions, JC+BS still the way to go? Even if that means 50k for powerlevelling both :p

I thought seriously about going undead for the will of the forsaken ability, and I love cannabalise, both for the health it brings back, but also like to think it more of a humilation if you chow down on their corpse.

instead I decided to go for female blood elves.

I kind of figured arcane torrent to be a nice racial. I realised after the event that arcane torrent is probably more useful when you are a melee class , however i still think there will be plenty of opportunity to use it.

As an aside I sorted out my 1 curse on a target issue.
In my curse macro I had put /cast [target=focus] curse of agony instead of actually targetting what my focus had as a target e.g /cast [target=focustarget] curse of agony.

The fact that it is unnerfed doesn't change the fact that on bg9 there are rarely 2 games in 70-79. My locks are 80 now, not sure what to spec.
