Im just playing a rogue/lock duo RAF nothing serious just wanna get my rogue to 60. I use the rogue as my main with the lock on autofollow. Im sick of alt tabbing to use my warlock macro of send pet cast corruption and they alt tab back to rogue. Is there any software that will let me view both of my accounts side by side on the same screen so I dont have to alt tab? Im playing both accounts of the same machine obviously.

Multiboxers don't alt-tab. We just key broadcasting programs (see sig for example) or multiple computers with multiple receivers to gather keyboard/mouse inputs.
But isnt all this stuff for people using more than 1 PC? After looking through most of it thats what it seems like. I remember a while back here a guy had both of his instances on 1 PC where you could see both characters at the same time on the same screen. Ok I don't understand a lot of this stuff. I just want to be playing on my main account and make my other character in the background send his pet and cast 1 spell.

ok, I know this is very confusing to multibox and it takes time, please read this that i took time to write, and follow each and every word exactly.. ill repost this on a thread for all who need.. (stickky :0)
This is a guide I made for someone months ago, but because it was burried under 10000 posts, Ill like to repost it, because ive gotten questions wanting to have it again!..so hear it is
what you will need-
- keyclone (19.99)
- addons- automaton, jamba, pitbull (free)
- macro's (which are simple! once u learn how to do them)
- a decent computer, I would suggest something with a quad core if you are doing 4+ characters and almost necessary after you hit Northrend
- multiple wow accounts
1. Download automaton, jamba, and pitbull (or a UI that allows u to bind any keys to any spells in wow)..
2. Keyclone- keyclone is a program used (19.99$) that can be downloaded off this site. What keyclone does is, it links whatever key presses you do on wow1 and wow2 (different wow's open on ur computer)... There are several things you need to do to become advanced at keyclone. But most of the things come already started for you. Once you install keyclone and your set, and have 2 accounts open ur first wow. Go into your game options and select windowed mode. Move ur size of ur new wow window to fit half the screen or however u want to set it up. Then, open a second wow, make another character and split the screen again to have it set as you want it...
3. u have ur characters made-- dont get carried away.. keep ur characters at the starting spot because all the keys are bound, and this gets realllllly messy...
4. is it working?- before you get moving around.. press spacebar while on "wow1", you should see both "wow1", and "wow2" jump at the same time.. this means that keyclone is working and ur set and ready for the more complicated stuff.. if not working.. going back and makesure keyclone is open, and keyclone has noticed you have opened wow.
5. Do-Not-pass- in keyclone, there is a tab called, "do not pass" go into this window. click the area that says "<click here and hit a key>".. dont hit a key please... (these are the keys that will not be transfered from "wow1" to "wow2".. ) you will want to have keys like, C, H, L, M, O, P, Enter, /,... ect.. while your running around and trying to open different windows, its very difficult to have all of the windows opening and closing.. whenever u see a problem with things opening.. just go to hear and put them in thedo-not-pass...
6. keybinds-- in wow settings- while on "wow2" go into ur settings and to keybinds.. this is another way that u can use make it so the alt does not do what the main is doing.. This is where ur going to go to "movement keys" and unbind the keys w,a,s,d,.. or up, down, left, right keys.. whichever u use to move.. This is so that you can have the main move and not the alt. (if u want to get fansy, you can have the movement keys for the main w,a,s,d.. and for when u just want the alt to move (for getting out of aoe or something).. u can use the arrow keys..)... Some more items that u might want to unbind are "enter" and "/" because u dont want them all talking at once!.
7. Macros--the most important part!!!-
- follow- when u just start a character say the first "free" button is "3" because u have like 2 spells at the start.. On "wow1" you will leave this space blank forever.. on "wow2" you will make a macro.. and place it on the button 3.. this is what the macro should look like.. ..... /follow wow1 (wow1= the name of ur main character name.,.. which i do not know).. place this on the button 3 on the alt, and leave it blank on the others..
- Shoot- now that u are running around and jumping at the same time and ur figuring it out, now its time to kill a mob. (dont do quests yet please).. (pretend ur a mage...) the only spell u have at the begging is fireball.. on ur main, you will leave button "2" as fireball, and then on the alt, you will create a macro place the macro on button 2.. replacing the normal spell please!!!- the macro should have the same picture to make it easier.. you will need a macro that looks like this /assist wow1 (now press enter to go down a line)... /cast fireball
- again-- do this step again for all spells that you get.. but do not use them for self cast things like frost shield.. because u want to give that to urself..
8. addons- and finally, you will need to setup macros. which are self explanatory..
Jamba= a addon that links that accounts so that they auto accept groups, trades, quests, focus, follow (pulsates every 1 sec.. different settings can make variables).. and all that (go into the main settings.. add all the alts names that will be included in this addon on "wow1" and the mains name on "wow2"'s addon..
Automaton= skips all the unnessisary things in quests, group invites, summons, deaths, trades, says ding! which is funn in guild!, and more auto thinggs like going into BG. and passing on
Pitbull- a new UI that allows u to put spells anywhere on the screen and bind them to keys.. So for example, if u want to bind 1, 2, 3, 4, to spells,, and cntl 1, cntrl 2, cntrl 3.. to buffs you can do that..!!
Not trying to sound like a bum but I have to pay for keyclone? I think I found out why it wouldnt work for me. Oh well printing this off for future use.
Also is there a way change the screen size of my accounts so 2 of them show up on my screen the exact same size, side by side, w/o overlapping. I swear I have seen screenshots of people who had done this with like 4 accounts each account being 1/4 of his screen in each corner but I cant find the posts or have any idea how they did it.

HKN is a free alternative, and works quite nicely. Head to Hotkeynet.com find the download at the top, and install it. Then follow this link http://hotkeynet.com/wow/wow-sample-two-on-one.html read the little bit about how it works in the header, make the small changes that are needed, and save it in a text file. Load the script into HKN and you'll be boxing without tabbing in minutes.
I'll leave the macroing and assisting bit to you, as there is plenty of documentation on this site in the stickies and wiki.
If you post your screen dimensions, and the size you want your screens to be I can make a script up for you. Also tell me what leader method you want and I can help you with the macros, and script if needed. Focus is probably going to be the method of choice for dual-boxing, but i won't turn away a request for FTL, or some sort of hybrid setup. Just post what you want and I can help.

I was hesitant to pay 20 bucks for a prgram that I had no knowledge of when i first started boxing as well. It wasn't the money it was the, "do I trust this vendor I've never heard of" factor that had me hung-up for a while. I looked around and found so many people using it that I finally threw in the CC number and got the full version. I would definately say it was worth it, nice program and good support even through the verification server hiccups.
I eventually switched to HKN because I like to mess with the scripts, but thats my sick addiction, and had nothing to do with the caliber of Rob or his software. I haven't upgraded to the newest version of keyclone but from what I hear it has been steadily getting better, and more worth every cent you spend on it.
Went with 2 locks gah this is so easy. I can just kill stuff by having both pets go in and then wand lol.

Some people really do make it almost unbearably difficult to not flame on the newbie forum.
Not flaming newbies is so easy, I just imagine a giant jellybean asking questions...not sure why but after the bout of laughter, I'm much more able to understand where they are coming from, and provide a meaningful answer :D

But just to add,
I dont think u understand that we (meaning the creators of this site, not me), created keyclone and many other great softwares. We are not a community in which we took off a program and just talk about ways to move around and do this for free. The only reason there is a payment is it takes hours upon hours to create these programs, which dips into the work time/free time of the people who created it. Also, they are paying for a site with NO ADDS, so they have no source of income to pay for the site or the time they lost due to support, upgrades, and the creation of great products like keyclone.
Im glad u have a interest in multiboxing, but as all multiboxers know we already get enough crap for multiboxing (lawl), and its great that our community holds together!,
peace, o and the comment about the basements. If hes got the multibox 5+ accounts hes probally not sitting in his basement all day, but working his ass off to make the money for whatever he likes to do in his life
All said and done if I was a newb and this was my first post, I'd not bother coming back to the forums...
There is a great wealth of information here, so much so that it's hard to figure out what you need, what works with what, etc. It can be quite overwelming to a newb I would imagine.
When I first visited dual-boxing.com there was a plethora of information about hardware boxing, a few posts about software tools, and Keyclone was posting... at that point we had two options for software boxing, AutoHotKey or Keyclone... and it was STILL a shitload to consume and understand.
Keyclone was $10/cpu, I ponied up knowing I could eat $20 at the time and call it a loss... now it's $20 (and still a steal) with a 24 hour trial (which IMO is pretty damn short to make an educated decision, but the product is definitely worth the $20.)
Did this guy jump in askign the right questions? Nope.
Did we need to treat him like this, for asking newb questions in the newb forum? Nope.

im sure its all been said before, but i would make your lock macro on a "hidden" key that u don't use on your rouge, and set up a simple assist button that makes the lock step back at the same time, that way it's easier to get it in your routine

Its cool. For what it is worth I often credit you in my sucesses with multiboxing and reference things you have posted when helping out newbs and such.
Look at the thread... I've read every post and had before I replied yesterday, our long time posters and vet members acted like jackasses. I think Fur has some good points as well, but I think some people automatically dismiss everything he says, because he says it. I honestly think if Fur said the sky was blue, a 4 page QQ would ensue.

You're not going to figure out everything in 5 minutes. This requires some research and trial error. The reason we can't just hand you a viable solution prepackaged for you for FREE, is because nothing like that exists. Every setup is different.
