My pally tank is in your typical pre-naxx blues and crafted gear. Is anyone in the progress of upgrading a similar tank with the new conquest badges and have ideas of the best upgrades? I don't know much about the best set bonuses or what to upgrade first, but I was just going to go for the conqueror's chest piece first, then either the platinum mesh cloak or a ring next.

That libram is not helping you defensively at all. Might want to look at the badge libram for a major upgrade in that spot.

Don't gem for hit or expertise. As long as you're uncritable you should gem for straight stam, with def/stam for good yellow socket bonuses and either dodge/stam or agi/stam for red socket bonuses. The T8 chest is a great first choice. For the second choice I'd go with the T8 helm, which although isn't the best for raids, it's probably the best you can get your hands on for a while and the bad raid stat it has is a good stat for you in heroics. A libram(LoO as cmeche linked) is another one you should try to get soon. IIRC this is the best prot libram before T9/Triumph. Your trinket is another weak point. There's a great one in normal cot (the black heart). The one from normal hol is also good, and although the emblem one is good too I wouldn't get it due to having other options and needing to use your emblems elsewhere. From there, I'd concentrate on replacing your blues, then work on all of the conquest emblem stuff and work your way down. Keep in mind that block is ok for heroics and many parts of naxx but is a bad stat in ulduar, in case you're planning to go that far(as in, if you are avoid upgrades with block if you can). Buying things off the AH is another option if you have the gold.

I have enough heroic badges to get either that libram or the neck. Guess I'm going for the chest piece first.
As far as AH stuff.. I have most of it, other than the ulduar crafted stuff, I just don't really want to spent 5000g on a belt, if you know what I mean
I had two plate tank drops in the first two chests of a normal Trial of the Champions last night: legs and feet.
Trying to figure out how grinding badges is better than running ToC until you stop getting common upgrades. (i.e., running it over and over for that last upgrade may not make sense.)
Plus, if you get good enough and normal mode and upgrade your gear, you might be able to jump to heroic and continue the flow of new wares.
Yeah, if you can do ToC by yourself on normal, thats a great place to start. You can even PUG it if necessary for the first few runs. Right now on my server at least, there are always groups farming Normal and they always seem to need tanks.
Have done heroic and normal ToC, so far have the helm and trinket for upgrades (no ring, pants, or shoulders yet).

My big sticking point now is I have about 60 emblems again and can't decide whether to go for valor shoulders, or I have enough of both to get the conquest neck, valor ring and cape all at once.
My shoulders would still be crap but the ToC heroic ones are better (I think?)... unfortunately though the chances of getting that drop are about 10% considering there are 2 bosses. Then again, 3 upgrades at once would probably be better, by the time I far up badges again I may have gotten the shoulder drop...
I don't really know much about paladin tank mechanics (tanking heroics with a spam macro is abotu all I do), but my goal has been stam and dodge really after I hit 540 def

I've been doing the Dailies with a team.
Basically 1100-1150 gold a day, depending on drops.
The Ulduar items are very good upgrades, but they take awhile.
On my server, the Belt and Boots are 8,000g.
I bought a few Ulduar drops, the Valor bracers.
Naxx 10, is a decent source.
About on par, for difficulty as heroics.
Not sure about boxing difficulty.
But the tank is the key member of your team, and impacts your heroic performance the most.
The latest test notes have Touched by the Light changing from 30% of Stamina = Spell Power to 60% of Strength = Spell Power. Spell Power is basically a large portion of our threat, but because of the talent, we don't need to gear for it at all. In my case, my Stamina is maybe 30 pts more then double my Strength, so not much impact. Still Strength increases block and attack power, so after Defense capping, its not a wasted stat. I'd still go Sta > Str.

I would personally pick up libram first - BV is not great for raiding but is awesome for heroics.
With the exception of the libram I would probably go highest ilevel first ie for conquest badges grab both T8 set pieces gloves and legs - belt is also good if you dont want to buy the crafted one
The grab Cloak from valor and possibly the ring unless you want to drop some gold on the BoE ones. I dont think 2pc T7 is worth losing some ilevel to maintain
For triumphs I would probably grab the shoulders first unless the ones from ToTC drop then maybe the ring first - the trinket is good too though
TBH I change my mind every day though so do not listen to me :P
The new crafted bracers look awesome and If I saw the BoE shield on the AH I would grab that as shield upgrades are a rarity. The Peacekeepers blade from TotC is best in slot for a non raider

Depends how quickly you go for it.
These are the Ulduar items I've picked up for my tank.
I guess the Valor bracers too, although they're BoE, so bought the turn in, didn't get the badges myself.

I bought the BoE cloak and ring from Ulduar but I havent seen the shield on our AH yet :( though with 3.2 I wouldnt recommend dropping gold on the cloak as the valor cloak is marginally better
eh but who wants to waste badges? I would rather drop gold on something as that comes easily than farm bosses for a marginal upgrade =/

I do UK with no problem as well, but its a grind of trash for three bosses.
I probably need to expand my horizons on farming instances. To be honest, by the time I started clearing them I blew through badge gear (pre 3.1/2) so fast that I stopped farming them. (Had nothing left to upgrade.)
