I have tried and tried to get the werewolf pet, but between gankings and bad timing I have had no luck. Anyone here get it yet?

i think one of the raiders in in the raidguild i am in have gotten it. saw a screenshot of the ugly dwarf
lol...Blizzard really ought to just leave us our fun pets (like this one and the ghost wolf). So what if it wasn't intended to have this mechanic after taming. It's like they're using any excuse they can find to take away fun stuff that isn't exactly easy to get anyway. :P
heh nice timing, i just got my worgen pet about 2 hours ago :)
did it solo with my surv hunter. just drop him to about 60% HP wyvern sting, wait till about 13 sec duration then start taming. took me about 4-5 attempts to get it right.
What am I looking for? The pet taming to finish right as he transforms? Or a few secs after he transforms? Or before transform?
I saw a few people do it successfully, most not. We were camping the area for awhile (with 4x 5 boxers), but then realized most of the horde was failing at taming anyway.
Damn. My hunter started Northrend in the Fjord so has had that quest completed for AGES.
S'okay, I like my trio of pets. I have:
* RottenEgg the tiger from STV (My hunter's name is Lastonethere <wink> )
* EpicMount one of the wolves from Ramparts, looks just like my orc hunter's epic mount lol. Get lots of comments on him, people think I'm a haxxor or that it's bugged
* Crabshah my tank pet (a crab). (our guild's MT is named "Badshah", thus the name of my tank pet)
My successful tame came while he was in wolf form with HP that looked as if he should have just been ready to change.Quote:

But yes for now the only way to lose the worg skin is to go into arena with that specific pet. and its a permanent revert to wolf.
This thread is coming up at a perfect time for me. My hunter is 71.3 and barely done any of Northrend yet (just far enough for the starter weapons), only about 50% done with BEM and still have Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley left in Outlands. There's probably only a dozen or so quests to do before I can unlock that quest chain for her in Fjord. I think she'll definitely be making a visit back to Fjord either tonight or tomorrow.
I hope they'll leave it as a legacy pet where you can keep it if you already have it but no one else can get it after a patch or something. I agree that they should leave this type of thing in the game as it provides a way for people to enjoy the game more for those that take the effort to figure things out like this. It doesn't hurt anything (from what I understand the pet has wolf abilities, but simply looks like a worgen) and gives people perks for simply having been around longer than new people.
Even if they take it out with the next patch in a couple of weeks, it'll still be fun to play around with it just for the novelty factor.

Got it, 4th attempt. Just took practice to get the timing dialed in just perfect.
1. Beat him down to about 7200 health.
2. Disengage
3. Wyvern Sting immediately before he gets into melee again
4. Wait for sting to have 16 secs left (time will vary depending on your haste, hence the practice)
5. Tame Beast
6. Pray to god he goes under 50% right as you finish the taming process.

I logged into another account to chat with the troll hunter in the foreground there. He pointed to Kaderri then "Wolf" so I decided to chat with him. Unfortunately he's already done all the quests there, so he can't get it.
ok well its just about impossible to get this pet right now. It's pretty much camped 24/7 with 80 hunters of both factions and the pvp mess is pretty hilarious at times. People griefing each other as they try to tame. I just hope they dont nerf it tomorrow in a hotfix or something.
Was this with an 80 hunter? The timing of it is hard since at 80 your wyvern sting does more damage than mine at 72. Still trying to figure out where I need to be.Quote:

I got mine after ~10 tries.
A horde fellow got his just after I arrived.
Another horde hunter did the quests while I was trying and got his on the first try.
You may have missed it, but I mentioned in my previous post that my hunter was just 71. Pretty sure Garwal was level 71 as well, so that is likely the minimum level before you can even tame him. She was spec'd as BM, so I had to change over to Surv right before attempting, and I'd never played with wyvern sting before.Quote:

You just need to know that the sting has a 30s duration, then causes damage over time for 6s after the sting wears off. If he's at like 51% health, then the sting will be enough to knock him under 50% health and cause him to transform. If your tame is just a couple seconds behind when the sting wears off (the sleep phase), then you have a good chance that tame will complete when the damage phase of the sting ticks once and makes him transform.
I should also mention that 2 attempts actually resulted in me doing just over 50% health, causing him to transform before I could even disengage and sting him, so I had to put him out of his misery and try it again. It's tricky to decide when to stop DPS in the first place so that you can time the tame just right.

Yeah, just reduced to a novelty pet now. Fun to pull out just to show off, then put him away again. I'm not going to delete him until I have a better use for the extra stable slot.
He will still attack, but has no special abilities. You can still keep him happy with the Glyph of Mend Pet. So he's still a usable pet, but his DPS will suck compared to anything else.

Ya I walked up to the gankfest area today and laughed my ass off at all the people trying to tame him...Im glad I really didnt waste a whole ton of time trying to tame him now. I really hate that blizzard does this... I mean really, does it hurt to let people have a unique pet?
oh true, but they also removed that ghost wolf pet from hunters too and I really dont think there was any far off reason for that. Unless they felt it infringed on shaman and ghost wolf form, lol.
No one was disagreeing with you there, and I'm hoping there will be a worgen race in a future expansion (more reason for me to switch to horde!). Since their history/home is largely a mystery, its unclear what type of expansion they would come with. Some people say they are a good fit with a South Seas expansion (I still fail to hear reasons why), though a reference to their enemy, the "Lords of the Emerald Flame", almost sounds like a tie to the Emerald Dream but has also been suggested as being tied to the Fel as well (since they use green flame).Quote:

Agreed, that seems the most logical place to have their starter zone (nothing else really makes sense). Since Arugal really isn't one them, I could easily see the storyline being that some of them despise him for the experimentation that he did on them and deciding to break away from his family. If they get added, it's of course still unclear whether it would work like DKs where anyone can be one or if they actually create a faction opposite version for alliance and leave worgen as horde only. I prefer more distinction between factions, rather than making them more and more alike (paid faction changes really messes with this logic though, oh well).Quote:

What I was referring to, though, was their home world. Reading lore (I know, I know... "lolore"), they apparently are not indigenious to Azeroth and seem to only cross over into this world when certain powerful magics are used. I think I want to see a worgen class more to see the history provided in the starter zone than the desire to actually play them. :P
Speaking for myself, I always attributed the portals on Azeroth (is that what you meant instead of Outlands?) to a coming Emerald Dream expansion, seeing as how they are always surrounded by green dragon kin. But now that I think about it, it also plays into the "Lords of the Emerald Flame". Maybe that refers to the green dragonflight as being the enemy of the worgen because of their mandate to watch over the dream world. Since at least some of the old gods were being imprisoned in the dream world, and the green dragonflight was given the task to keep watch over them there, I could see how the worgen came at odds with them for entering their world and causing problems.Quote:

From my understanding World of Warcraft is Scheduled for 7-8 Expansions and so far we are only on the 2nd Xpac.
There are also several other Hero Classes to come, DK was just the first.
Blizzard always Milks their products for as long as possible and WoW will be no different. :D
I've never read quest text or got into lore, but Worgens have always intrigued me. If I played a Worgen I would definitely be paying attention to their lore.
Go take a look at the various websites (e.g. MMO-Champion) posting pictures of the new Hallow's End masks, which feature, ostensibly, both female/male variations of the worgen and goblin races. While I'm an individual who typically remains incredulous until something is proven otherwise, I'm still interested in the predictions some people/websites have made regarding the possibility that these two races will become playable in the upcoming expansion.
I'm also of the opinion that the worgen and goblins are going to start as neutral races in a phased starter zone (or zones) specifically designed for them, in which at some point during their early leveling phases you'll be forced to choose a permanent faction. As far as lore is concerned (and I'm unabashedly an avid reader of WoW's lore, no matter how incongruous most of it may be), it would make far more sense since both races possess no overt ties to other races other than some rather ambiguous, somewhat trivial references which were made (e.g. Sentinel Velinde Starsong and the Scythe of Elune). I'm aware that the goblins briefly allied themselves with the Horde; however, considering that their greed is their predominate concern, it will be interesting to see how Blizzard intends to implement them as a race, which is why I'm of the opinion that they will represent a specific segment of their race which has, for whatever reason, broken its ties with the Undermine. (This would explain why they would initially be neutral, even if it was only for the first few levels, sort of like the Death Knight starting quests.) Overall, however, in the case of the worgen, this could prove to be an excellent chance to expand upon a race that seriously lacks any intricate lore behind it.
(Also, before anyone says it, I'm aware that some places are speculating that the worgen will be an Alliance race and the goblins a Horde race, but I just can't agree with that sentiment, although, as evidenced by Blizzard's love for retconning/butchering the existing lore, anything is possible. And, of course, this is all SPECULATION, so don't assume I'm purporting that any of this will in fact transpire -- I'm just saying that if these races do in fact become a part of the next expansion, this is how I think they will be implemented. And since Blizzard recently announced the "faction change" service, I suppose some of this might make sense.)
EDIT: And, yeah, the worgen pet nerf does seem to support the notion that the worgen will be a playable race, but until we have official confirmation of this (most likely during BlizzCon), I'm assuming nothing.
