Hello there ,
Im new to dual boxing and tried the Priest/Warlock combination with the warlock as main character. While i enjoyed it id like to try something new.
Hunter + healer. What healer would fit the hunter best? Id like to hear your opinions about this.
I would say druid for added Crowd control and moonfire spamage!
Heal over times FTW.
Im going to be trying 5x Boomkins soon.

I dual boxed a priest and huntard from 60-70. The game was so easy, yet very enjoyable. I was even able to do instances with other people and they didn't realise I was playing two chars.

Wich one whas the main character? Did you use the priest only for heals?
I now have Hunter+Druid where the druid is the main lv11 going to be balance specced.
I did hunter and druid. Very good synergy and Entangling Roots is the perfect CC for a hunter. :D
EDIT: Didn't read your last reply. I used the hunter as the main. Sent the pet in with hots, rooted and marked the kill target. Kept the pet healed, and did some occasional damage. Worked really well.
I've enjoyed having a 70 hunter with a 70 priest. Shield pet, send pet in to round up mobs, misdirect with a volley onto the pet, followed by a nice multishot or some combination of shots.
During the volley there's ample time to send the priest into the fray, to holy nova and re-shield (I use [shift+arrow keys] to move her without moving myself). I personally prefer the 50% damage return on the shields, so it's not just to keep the pet up.
Before the fight I throw down an explosive trap. After the first re-shield, I bring the pet and priest back to me and the trap, where I throw down another lovely explosive trap. I leave them all there as I feign and then get a little range. A few more holy novas fly out from the priest, conserving mana for the final shields and prayers of mending if needed. Interesting to note that the heals and damage from holy nova causes no threat and that prayer of mending adds aggro to the player it gets used on, rather than the healer. And Shadow Word: Death bounces the prayer of mending back off from the healer.
If things start getting hairy then I ensure that the hunter, pet, and priest get at least one mob on them and cast that PoM.. It bounces around 5x and heals everyone for little to no mana. PoM is amazing when everyone is taking a beating. In some areas I ensure that at least one mob is nipping at the heels of the hunter and I can just go around with the pet collecting more mobs, I just kill off the last target the pet had. I stop only to retrace my steps back down the trail of bloody bodies for the loot. Mana and health are always near 90% and it can go on for a very long time. I'd like to know how efficiently other healing classes can sustain that sort of carnage.
I only recently got automated with autohotkey. I had a setup with two machines, but one crapped out, so I turned to tabbing over on the original computer. Actually, I learned to prefer that over having two machines, mouses and keyboards. My script includes key presses accompanied by mouse clicks on the hotbar (plotted in all the x and y coordinates) and shift+arrow keys to move the other pet (I mean my little priest pet). Now that I don't have to tab so much, lots more spells are being sent down range. It's also great that +healing gear is now also +damage gear to an extent.
Priests have shackle undead, mind control and fear, and the hunter has freezing and frost traps for crowd control (sometimes even snakes). However, I'm usually just more interested in quickly getting an enormous group to beat on my pet, which remains shielded, while I juggle aggro with the hunter.
It seems like a lot of doing but it's what I'm used to and I really like it. I've got the same question as the OP, however. I'm experimenting with all the healing classes at the moment, trying to level up each to 70 for playtesting. so far I've got a 55 sham, 46 druid and 44 pally.
To take a break, I just got a couple of druids to level 8 tonight, plan on doing feral and resto. I've always been impressed with what they're capable of. If it's all that I've dreamed I may just get a third account and bring in another druid. Same box should handle it, I got a nice rig =^) Then of course why stop there?
But honestly I don't know the answer to the question, only what I've tried so far. The totems are very helpful from the shaman, namely the agility and earthbind totems, ah, and the mana contributions. The blessings from the Pally are very nice to have, from even a low level Paladin. I can't say that I know what the druid contributes besides healing but the entangling roots outdoors, weak thorns and gift of the wild, so far. As much as I like the shaman, I personally don't like having to lay totems all the damn time though. And having a blessing of kings is mighty nice, but hate refreshing the blessing every ten minutes. Just have to wait til they get a little higher before I can really know what I like the best... So far it's the priest, hands down, for me.

Paladin has also got Devoition aura - If improved +1,2k armor for all party members , blessing of sacrifice wich takes a 100 damage from the pet to the paladin and ofcourse paladin healing is the most mana efficient of all healing. Paladin could literaly flash of light 1-2 hours without drinking , assuming they have a good MP/5 and some nice crit chance on their heals.
Druids only have Hots and entangling roots outdoors
Shaman have totems.. but they also have ankhs to resurect themselves.
So far i think i wil choose a priest , since paladin is a melee character wich makes him harder to box togheter with a hunter. Also taking priest i might take 2 night elves with shadowmeld and also have some good advantage looking at BG and arena in the far end.
I wrote all that with pve in mind, I am horrible at two for pvp, gotten in a few scrapes. I might try again now that I don't have to lose time tabbing over.
Yeah, I forgot about the shaman's self res, I found that really useful while leveling him up. There's also a fire elemental totem at 68 that could come in handy for aoe damage. And heroism at 70 which increases melee, ranged, and spell casting speed by 30% for all party members, lasting 40 seconds.
I also forgot to mention the pally's consecrate. I saw a single pally at the zaxxis camp piling them up with that. Of course a single warlock can kill the skettis trees in half the time as a hunter/priest, but I've yet to test my new powers against them!
As for specs I'm MM (have a fondness for that tree) and disc/holy for the priest. I don't have to respec the priest for Kara raids either but remain in the 2nd-3rd place for healing. First is always the paladin by a long shot, followed closely by another priest.

Ok i Started with them now , I chose a night elf Priest and a night elf hunter. Im Mainly focussing on PVE but i might try some arenas, where shadowmeld ofcourse wil get very handy.
As for specs i wil be BM/MM 41/20 specc and Disc/Holy with the priest.
Any tips for leveling them up such as handy macros? I already read some of the stickys where i found one to make them accept quests and such. However its terrible when it comes to item drop/collection quests wich are most of them. Without quests it wil take ages to level up especially when starting from 1 like me. Any advice?
First of all Hi Nedrip and welcome to the forums.
I have a 70 hunter and 70 priest, on different accounts, but I didn't try multiboxing them yet, so can't help much with that.
In terms of automating things a bit, quest acceptance, res acceptance etc, try automaton, mod available on curse gaming which is very customisable. Smart buff will probably also help.
In terms of levelling, things should get easier after 20. With only 2 chars, its still worth doing most collection quests, not as bad as 5 chars /gasp. Just follow one of the online guides like that at wowpro.com. Since the changes of 2.3 it should be easy enough, given the extra xp boosts. Just alternate collection quests between the chars and you should easily keep up with the guide.

My bottom left action bars on the hunter side have blank macros, with the picture of the spell that the priest is to cast. When I middle click that, the priest does her thing.
The first hot button is 'Target pet', the second is 'Target hunter' and the third is 'Target priest and throw up a shield'... these are all commands that go directly to the priest. The only reason she would be targeted if is she were under attack, so of course the shield would go up automatically.
The next few buttons are various heal spells, and then I have the hunter's own melee attacks. On the right are the damaging spells that the priest can cast. Basically all these are blank and are just placeholders on the hunter side, on the priest side they are the actual spells and macros like '/target Arbez'.
Other than that I don't use any macros, I feel it takes away from the skill value of the game and I've never found anything too useful. For basic running around, grinding/farming, etc, the only macro I have a real need for is a pet attack and a pet follow button, because sometimes the pet bar disappears and you lose control of your pet. These are simply /petattack /petfollow buttons you can make. You can also make a basic feed bet button but that's not too hard to click two buttons instead of just one.
For addons, Smart Buff is one that is helpful for the priest, like Kyudo suggested. Decursive is nice to have as well, but it will have to be used from the priest's side.
Kyudo, if your priest and hunter are on different accounts you should throw em together and have a little fun =^)

They are both lv 10 now and ive been experimenting dual-boxing them.
Since my priest istnt there for DPS purposes i just created i castsequance with cast SW:P and Starshards and 1x mindblast and put that under arcane shot. For buffing.. I unbinded F1 and F2 key on my hunter so now i can quickly Press F1 and cast something on my priest or press F2 and cast on my hunter. Double F2 to cast on my pet. All healing spells are binded to easy to reach keys.
I basicly quest like other hunters except i can pull much larger groups and even elites because of the easy healing support. I like it so far. To be updated...
