5xRet Pally = love

I recently decieded to get back into multi boxing, after a much needed break from WoW. I was having a problem with choosing the right classes to go with, but i finally made a decision to run with 5 ret pallies after reading the mellee topics on the board.

I would have to say that this is the most fun ive had since ive played wow and started boxing. I cant believe how fast things drop when you are jsut spamming judgements on a mob. And with the 5x JoL, SoL ; you never run out of health. I have been using the RAF 1-60 guide(somewhere on this forum) and in 13 hours managed to get to lvl 36 with only one death.

Did RFC, SFK, BRD each in a matter of minutes, and it was was a breeze. Dont think im every gonna run a caster group again. Maybe il go for 4xWAR and 1xPriest next time.

just can't wait till my slaves get fully rested up to match up with my main pally that's been parked now for months. all at lvl 24 right now, so i've got a long way to go before i can get to the real fun parts. but been running a priest on main with 3 bm hunters in tow and loving it right now. next melee team will be my warriors and priest as well. no raf left :( but i've never played these classes so i didn't want to skip around on them. don't wanna get burned out too quickly on them.

i once had a similar group, 3x hunters and 1xresto shaman, but that was back when i was 4 boxing. It was a fun group, but it is nothing compared to my pallies.

I would love to see an all warrior group, but im a little confused on how that would play. I mean, would i play a WAR as main and then charge everything. Or would i play the priest as main and then charge everything. Kind of up in the air.

My pally team just dinged 71 yesterday. You might want to think about changing your main to a protection pally and leave the other ret. It would be hard if not impossible to do instances with 5 rets but one of them being protection and you are good as gold. I love my pally team.

btw, i am going to dual spec my main. protection and ret. that way i can change it to ret when i pvp.

I actually didn't bother running my main as prot until dual specs came out. Before that I was actually killing some heroic bosses with 5x ret. Now that I have dual spec though I've killed most of the heroic bosses so far. My gear is still lacking and I don't have but maybe 10 hours a week to play otherwise I would probably have the rest down as well.

Yeah, I love my Pally Team, Wintergrasp is crazy fun. But I've struggled a little with heroic bosses that deal large close range DPS though.

Can anyone help me with some testing on Judgement of Light stacking? I've tested a lot of old world pre-60 dungeons and I could not get the JoL's to stack. However, they would stack on mobs outside of instances. I tried using the exact same gear to not have the possibility of overwriting any of them and it still would not stack.

Can anyone test this in BC and WoTLK instances for me? My pallies aren't high enough yet to test these areas and I'd like to find out the results.

Maybe this was snuck in a recent patch? Seems a bit odd to me...

It looks like that JoL doenst stack anymore, I have tried it in the blasted lands (on those servants mobs who can't die) and when I cast 5 JoL's only 1 stays under monsters portrait for life leech. (5 * Judgement damage though)

Is this an undocumented change?

Boxing 1 Prot pally + 4 Ret Pally's

I asked about this right before WOTLK came out, when I was first experimenting with boxing (my first team was 2x ret pallies). From what I could tell at that point, any stacking of the healing debuff (the debuff that heals you when you hit the mob) is a bug.

Not sure if anything has changed from that point.

hmm. thats a little strange. Nothing has been officially released about judgments not stacking, as i was just a my pallies a few hours prior to this post. All judments were on! However, i have noticed that sometimes , 2-3 of my slaves JOL will not be there on one mob, but on the next one, every JOL is on. Maybe it is a bug as suggested.

My guild mate did his 5 palies from 60-70 about 90% running outland instances. He only did easy kill quests and some quests associated with the instances he ran. it seemed like he was leveling pretty fast.

I'm pretty sure JoL can be resisted and that's probably what happens. Also could be a lag issue where some of the slaves don't know the main's target yet to assist.

ok. unofficial ......but judgments do not stacka anymore. got on today did some runs and got nothings. only one on a mob for my entire 8 hours of play.

I just wanted to chime in on this thread as I have a 5x Ret Pally team going right now. I hit 35 last night and have done all the Alliance instances thus far, as well as RFK and half of RFD. I haven't played Alliance in a very long time, so that's been an adventure in and of itself.

I started on a fresh server (Azshara), chose PvP, and I have no money or anything to help out. My gear was severely lacking and still is in several spots but the team is just cruising. My only problem thus far is getting the 4x melee in range on hectic pulls. I've honed all my skills thus far on 5x Shaman and 1x Pally/3x Lock/1x Priest teams, so I have the basics. It all definitely changes when they're all melee.

I can't wait to start SM. I think I'm going tonight.

One side note - I sure wish they'd have allowed Exorcism to affect PCs 8) .

If your using focus macros...add "/follow focus" to your main dps macro. This will keep your guys on your main all the time. Keep a copy of your dps macro WITHOUT the /follow in it as well, for times when you want your followers to stay put.

Lyonheart, I'm not using focus this time around, but I did add a /follow <leader> in my /startattack macro. It's working great, so thanks for the tip!

I use ken's mellee macro from the wiki, with a few modifications of my own. When you get to 44 this can be of real help as it has been to me.

I highly recommend putting the /follow focus after the /startattack or any other attack that breaks follow. The reason being is that there is the potential for the toon to take one more swing and break follow after you've hit your macro, thus potentially slowing down dps and/or losing an alt or two from follow breaking. It's not a huge deal but it can and does happen from time to time.

On another note, not that I recommend relying on this as your main source of getting your toons into range as there will be plenty of mobs in heroics that cannot be stunned, but make a macro

and then just put it on round robin if you use KC. That way if things get really hectic or a mob just will not stand still as occasionally they do, just HoJ them and you will have 6 seconds to easily get your followers in range.

this is total BS that it JoL doesn't stack.
shaman healing totems stack so why not JoL stacking?

I can see JoW not stacking since shaman mana totems don't stack.

I swear, Blizzard must troll our forums looking for people having too much fun.

To my knowledge the only thing thats keeping healing stream totems stacking is that theyre group only.

Because JoL affects the entire raid they cant have it stacking.

While it sucks its for the most part consistent.

It hasnt been much of a problem with the judgements not stacking any more. If you replace the copied judgement on your slave toons with another beneficial judgement, it can prove to be quite effective against most mobs.

I try to at least have one of every judgement on each other toon, at least until they get Martyr/Blood( then its game over)

I have been very keen to try this build but sinceI play on a PvP server I need to know how do you stop yourself from being kited by ranged characters?

lets face it, you will get kited as a pally group; but one things for certian, you will dish out so much dps to the opposing person/enemy that they will think twice before messing with you again. use your judgements, and mix them up, as they arent stacking at the moment.

From my exp in BG's,5x consencration is a must, and 5x exercism is a mass damage dealer .

As for any pvp situation, you want to have a button/macro that allows you to switch toon/focus at a whim. without it , you wil fail, and will get kited all over the place when your leader dies.

Umm HI!.. You're playing paladins here, not warriors :P

Between Avenger's shield, 4x Repentance, Judgement of Justice, 5x Hammer of Justice, Pursuit of Justice, Crusader Aura, Blessing of Freedom, 5x Cleanse, Every man for himself (if you're human), and if you're really getting ganged up on by ranged classes, Divine Shield.

Only extremely good hunters, who had completely taken me by suprise have ever managed to sucessfully kite me as a solo pally. I have never been sucessfully kited with 5x paladins and I pvp alot with them.

I do use a majority of the spells you have listed and they work great, but im only 64, in mediorcre gear. But at this moment, against locks,hunters,and frost mages im on a kited status and then i wipe once they come up with the right strategy.

Well if you're doing 5 ret do this against ranged classes. Make a cleanse macro that will have each pally cleansing the next pally, in other words...

Pally 1 cleanses Pally 2
Pally 2 cleanses Pally 3
Pally 3 cleanses Pally 4
Pally 4 cleanses Pally 5
Pally 5 cleanses Pally 1

This allows your followers to get rid of things like single target fears or HoJ or anything else that you can't cleanse off of yourself due to being incapacitated. Then make a [modifier:shift], or whatever modifier you like, line in the macro to have all 5 paladins cleanse your main as he will most likely be taking the brunt of snares and what not and having 5x cleansing action gets rid of all that crap super quick.

Against Frost Mages with improved Blizzard, you're most likely going to have to just use Hand of Freedom as the winter's chill effect will stack just as quickly as you can cleanse it off and since he will of most likely froze you in place to begin with you'll be just sitting spamming cleanse while not actually catching up on cleansing the debuffs.

Also make sure you have both Repentance and Hammer of Justice on round robin. If the kiter is far off repent them. DON'T touch them till all of your toons are in range. Then 5x judgement crit them, HoJ, Crusader Strike, and Divine storm if they aren't already dead.

O, Almost forgot to mention, if a hunter get away from you a bit, he will most like turn on aspect of the cheetah, just use Hand of Reckoning to daze his him. Funny as hell :)

How are you keeping your pallies up with solid 2Handers blowing throw instances so quickly?
