Cutting in the parts to fit a budget

Yesterday I entered northend with my 4 shamans and pally and instantly one of the 4 shamans on my pc froze. The other 3 shamans and the paladin who is on myh laptop kept going. Guess 4x wotlk is to much for a 2gig computer with 2gigs of ram lol. Sadly, as a student, I havent have got enough time to save me money for the wanted system allready.

I was planning to get:

AMD AM2 4x3gig
GF 9800gt 1024mb
4x 2gig ram 1066

So I have to cut down a bit on budget so Im wondering where, changing the memory to 800mhz does not change much, sho maybe a GF9600gt or a 512mb version.
How about the CPU, any chance I can 5box on one pc with less CPU? I really dont need top grapical settings, just to be able to run at decend framerate(also inside dalaran). Dont mind if settings are not on full(for slaves that is).

Hopefully someone has some hardware experience with similar parts and can help me out.

Increase your memory first... it's the easiest and cheapest way to play 5 characters in NR.

The other stuff is nice, but your characters froze because you ran out of memory and the computer began swapping to the hard drive.

It only uses 1.5 gig memory but constantly at 100% cpu

So you have 2 gigs of ram in the computer

WoW is using 1.5 GB

That leaves you with 500 MB. So, how much memory is the rest of your OS using? :)

Just so I understand.. you're five boxing on a single machine, yet the total ram used is just 1500?

This is in Northrend?

I`m running 5 on my pc. CPU used is 100% and memory used total 1500 of 2000

Hmmm... that's pretty darn good for the memory because I five box and just my wow clients use approx 3 - 3.25 GB.

Have you made it to Dalaran yet? Go in there and look at your memory usage.

You may need to upgrade your CPU, check out new egg, amd chips are pretty cheap. Like 60-250

I`m getting a 4x 3gig for 190euro so I`d say that is cheap enough :-)

That will help but if your CPU is constant at 100 than it means it can't handle it. Not just that but if you continue to run it maxing 100 all the time it won't be long until it burns out.

I changed around a bit and got it at a lower price:

AMD AM2 4x3gig
9600GT 1024 (cheap model)
4gigs of ram (1024)

This means I don`t have to wait another month to get it (can`t play WOTLK with my current setup).

Hopefully this will work for now. Running 5 clients that is.
