Blizzard loosing its touch on pvp?

Well, I dont know about you guys but I think pvp in wow is going in the wrong direction, I dont want to be a pesimist but all these uber abilities that all the classes have are just ANNOYING. Stuns, CC, Immunities, Knockbacks, Aoes.. etc etc.. sometimes the battlefield is so chaotic its no way to understand what is going on.

I kinda was hoping that bliz would realize this problem but instead they seem to be wanting to fix the problem by adding to it.

I for one love pvp but lately its been getting clear that there is not magical fix to the game incoming anytime soon.



Anyways, those are my 2cents. Agree or not its just how I'm feeling about state of things atm.

I dont get whats your problem. There are many skills with make lots od diffrent effects. Each class has them so you can never know what your up agiants making you on your guard all the time. And its obvious that the battlefield is chaotic, have you never saw a struggle in front line without a total mess and mayhem? If you can keep up with it simply dont do it.

If in different effects being frozen, stunned etc etc etc half the time then I suppose you do know what to expect. But I do little else then pvp in wow and this is my conclusion. This is not a whine OMG this and that class is so op, just my feeling of state of things in pvp.

Well WoW is teamplay game in essence and BGs /Arenas as well, so if your getting CC'ed easily then I suppose you should make premades with guildies/friends communicate via Vent and work togheter to make things easier. Dont expect that you can have smooth sailing in a PuG. The factor that decides with side in BG win is with side has more Premade's and less PuGers/Honor Farmers etc...

i think theyre losing touch all together. there doesnt seem to be a class specialty, you dont need x-pallies for buffs x-rogues for cc, x hunters for kiting, droods for hots ect ect. theyve seemed to blend every class with every other class so everything can fill every other classes roll. the only class i ever see asked for specificly in any raids anymore are shammies for heroism, the rest of the comp is a blend of whatever, sometimes lots of mages, sometimes hunter, often pallies... i liked it when there were class specific roles you would need fufilled. what happened to cc? i havent cc'ed anything in wotlk. bah! i say bah!

Agreed!

Kiting is what makes hunter so cool (remember the beast from UBRS, man i envyed the hunters who kited him) Only place you kite now is some silly zombies in naxx.

Wow have turned better in some ways thought.

Remember in Azertoh:

Warriors was prot
Druids was resto
Priests was holy
Mages was frost(due to lots of bosses beeing fire immune in MC and BWL)
Paladins was holy
Rogues was combat
Shamans was resto
Hunters was MM
Locks was UD/ruin if horde(atleast me) and sm/ruin if alliance (FU blessing of salvation)

Now you can pve with pretty much any class/spec and almost every class can do fair in pvp with 2 specs.

Things wasnt always better before but i totaly agree that classes have lost uniqness!

Playing my warrior/dk/ret paladin feels exactly the same apart from some shine!

Is it even possible for Blizzard to fix PVP?

Every pvp'er has an opinion and there is no way blizzard can please them all.

No it's not.

There are guys for whom PVP means griefing low levels mercilessly (AKA 'World PVP'), others for whom it means arenas, others play battlegrounds, and there are town/city raiders, etc, etc. Each of those groups wants their version of PVP to be the most important.

On top of that each player wants their preferred class to always win PVP against all other classes - so even if all classes are perfectly balanced thats still 100% of the PVPers pissed that their class isn't the best.

It's not that Blizzard can't fix PVP, it's that PVP is impossible to 'fix'.

"Bring the player, not the class". Add dual spec's to this, and its glorious. Being a Guild Master / Raid Leader myself, this is the best thing to ever come to WoW. If somebody has to leave early / can't show up - another player can fill that roll and we press forward - instead of canceling the raid altogether because we didn't have the right class balance.

blizzard never "had a touch" on pvp, compared to other games PVP in wow is horrible. DAOC or Warhammer is way, way more fun PVP-wise than wow has ever been, although the core wow game is a lot better than either of those two by a lot - imagine how fun a combo of Wow+Warhammer would have been.

The last year they have focused a lot on "esports" arena as well which is even more confining.

It maybe just you're server, but when I enter a BG with any of my boxing teams, they follow me, or at least a group of them follow me. It's been that way in every bracket.

I remember in one 70 bracket AV with my 5-box-Shaman team, the Alliance had us pinned down at our fort.
I just kept popping totems, and was blasting away as healers spammed heals on me while me and others held the front line. Was one of the funnest BG's i've ever done.

But I suggest you do Pre-mades as well if you can.

This game was not and will not be based around PVP if you want that you are in the wrong game, while the PVP is ok its not that great as you can see from a lot of the post, personally I do not PVP and hate it to boot and I am on a PVP server >< If you expect something to actually come out of PVP in wow you are going to be disappointed a lot. If you want a PVP intensive game then there are other games you can try as you see from previous post. I really dont get the QQ over PVP when it was never the main focus to begin with, it has actually made the game worse for the majority of those of us who do not PVP. Oh and in case your wondering my friend made me roll on the server since he would not roll horde on my server which was PVE and he loves PVP well when he can actually do it.

I find this annoying, especially when balancing changes are made based on arena without thought to the impact on that class in BGs and PvE.

Every single class has aoe damage now, most have aoe cc, bubbles of some sort have been given to at least half the classes, win buttons, 100% crit talents, etc. went from just a few classes with very specific specs (seal fate rogues?) to everyone who wants it. it is very out of control

Arenas have gotten so bad with the aoe damage, cc, and ridiculously overdone effects, I have to turn spell damage graphics to minimum to even see what is going on. Of course then all I can really see are my shaman being chain CC'd in some way, but at least I can see

In my eyes, PvP was a content patch for WoW. The original ranking system was what introduced PvP to most players. The game keeps changing for both PvE and PvP. Give it a few months and something else will make things different yet again.

Play some FPS or RTS if you need a real pvp fix, something where gear doesn't replace skill. Or convince Blizzard to make the "Naked Arena"!

I also agree, that by focusing on "bring the player, not the class" it has blurred the lines a bit too much. With the introduction of the dual spec system the lines are even more blurred. I doubt WoW will ever provide the grand feeling most had during the Classic part of the game. Let’s just hope that the next gen MMO that they are working on can provide some of that feeling. Sure Wrath has introduced some new "cool" feelings, but all in all it's just another place to explore and kill virtual things.

Or... get outside and have some real life fun! Careful though real life pvp can be very risky to life and limb.

PvP is a difficult concept to nail down. Everyone body expects something out of it that is different from what someone else expects.

I realize pvp will never be perfect in a mmorpg, especially a big game like wow that tenders heavily towards pve aswell.

But I still feel that bliz can do a better job with their pvp part of the game. The funny thing is that my shammies were made to PVE as I already have an 80th lvl pally waiting on testing some instances. However since my limited gametime (yes I do have a rl, wife, kids job etc) just allows me so much, so a bg or two is my fix for the night atm. Maybe someday in the near future pve will spark again for me. Until then its blood sweat and tears at the bgs.

The problem with a mmorpgs is that they can easily be messed up with afew bad decision, then starts the decline of the game that can be very hard to turn around. This is something I have learned from experience, been playing before UO came out, started with M59 and been hooked from that momment on. Also owning a small share in CCP, this is what I dread the most, bad judgement or wrong course for the game. It really doesnt take much, a couple of stubbron devs making a mistake upon a mistake and ending in one disaster.

Now a good start to atleast fix things at my side would be fixing this damm raid bug with premades :thumbsup: .. Has it been done in 3.1.1? The patch hasnt arrived on the EU servers yet.

Ohhh and a update on my bg progress, since I made a thread the other day about being owned in EOS etc.. I'm now wining more bgs then loosing.. cant win them all since you cant choose your teammates. Ofc this excludes WSG and STRAND. If anyone has some good strats for those bgs, PLEASE share.

Sounds about like my time in arena which, mercifully, has ended. Although with the new season gear, I guess I may have to get my weekly dose of humiliation for my welfare PvP epics.

You know I see it the opposite way. I see that they have catered so much to pvp that it has ruined the pve game. I think they should just seperate the two and be done with it. I believe someone said Guild Wars was like that. Personally I don't think pvp in this game. I like world pvp but they have the cities so far from each other and the stupid guards can't even get into the cities. They should have made it in Nuetral cities were you can at least flag and attack each other. But as someone above said you can't please everyone.

3.0 was a bad day for pvp

i remember the time we had 60+ open battlegrounds in the queue,
nowdays queues are total empty and for a twinks (19-39) battleground you have to wait 20+ min.
