Just got an email this morning from Blizz saying I had done something wrong ("Just assumed it was another one of those assjack GM's banning for "botting")
Then I looked a little closer...

I had an e-mail like that a few months ago. I checked the forums and found out that its a fairly common scam.
Someone should hit that kind of people where it really hurts X( Account stealing asshats!
The sad part is it obviously works - the mail is so blatantly fake yet people constantly fall for this crap.
I guess it goes to show you that the average wow player is stupid.

EVERY MAIL from blizzard has atleast @blizzard.com or @wow-europe.com
PLUS
They got all that information in their database, you password, secret answer, anything, they can just look up. SO DONT send your information to that.
Blizzard can ask: ---------->4<------ last didgets of your creditcard. and just 4 not 16.
or fax them a copy of your identity card. And you can hide all your personal numbers whatever there.

Lol, yeah, well, you get those people who fall for all those "Want your credit checked?, try this site."... And people actually do it, lol.
I already assumed 80% of the wow Pop was running on a “low memory capacity”...
Has anyone done an Age group compilation of wow players?
Biggest /facepalm of that email imo is:
You can confirm blah blah... by replying to this e-mail.
Sent from : DONOTREPLY@Blizzard.com
that's hilariously dumb even IF you ignore the
Code:/cast [target=blizzard] Misdirection
/cast e-mail scam
Playing to people's fear is a powerfully effective tactic. Say something scary ("your account will be banned", "the terrorists will win" etc) and people turn their brains right off. It's big with politicians too.Quote:

Having a list of other email addresses is also a giveaway. It is very unlikely they would send out a mass email in that manner.
Unfortunately the method probably works. Authentication keys should be free. Somewhat like getting vaccinated. You need to vaccinate all those people who think nothing will every happen to them in order to save everyone else.
Forward these to hacks@blizzard.com
They can follow up on the ISP that owns the IP block and it will help cut down on it in the future. I've gotten two in the past 3 days.
