Jamba-Quest (0.5) option screen - opinions requested.

I have been updating Jamba and wondered if I could get some feedback on the Jamba-Quest option screen. I feel the current options are too confusing and I have attempted to simplify them.

The options no longer contain "abandon or watch" options as these only occur if you press a button on the special Jamba Quest window.

The quest completion wording has been simplified. Does it make sense? :P

Should I integrate the decline quest option in the select and accept quest. I cannot imagine not wanting to mirror declines if you are mirroring selection and acceptance.

Should I separate out quest acceptance from quest selection? Not sure I won't to do this, but open to suggestions.

Do you have planned to add the sell of quest items over all toons at the same time as we spoke previously ?

Considering the new Feature "interact with target" introduced in the 3.1 perhaps you could consider adding it somehow with jamba to auto select/turn-in or whatever to enhance the slaves experience, don't you think ?

After looking through the options in the screenshot you provided: All of them make perfect sense to me. I like the option "If Slave Reward selected, Complete Quest with Master". I don't actually know if that is in the current version of Jamba but it's somewhat annoying to select the same (useless) reward on a few slaves because you can't use any of them :)

I personally think you should although it's not a problem for me just turn both options on. I haven't been in situation yet where I wanted my slaves to not mirror my quest decline.

Yes; you can infer the opposite like you do:

If a slave reward is NOT selected; the quest will NOT be automatically completed.

Do you think this needs to be more obvious?

This option is in the current version of Jamba - it is on the Jamba Quest screen and called "Complete Quest If Slaves Have Choice Selected". Its description is: "Using the mirror master no reward choice, check this option to pre-select the reward choices on the slaves before completing the quest on the master.

Essentially you still have to select a reward on a slave; but when you press complete quest on the master, the slaves will complete the quest if they have a reward selected.

Question is; do you want an option where in some cases, you don't care what the slaves get - just get them to pick a random one (or the plate item or the sword, etc, or the masters choice)? So another option that might read "if no selection made and master complete quest, then pick 'best' reward" or "if no selection made and master complete quest, then pick master choice". Should this be another seperate option to be able to turn on?

Hmm, that's a tricky one if you ask me. If I am leveling with a team that has different classes I prefer to manually pick the reward on each slave, in that case I wouldn't mind to do it on a quest that has no usefull reward for any. But when I'm questing with that same team on level 80 (when mostly I don't need the rewards) then I guess "if no selection made and master complete quest, then pick master choice" would be a nifty option.

I like the look a lot, seems much simpler and looks like it does almost exactly what i like by default.

Is that "All Auto accept any quests" now going to include the main? If so, then thank you, it was always a bit odd for me having to manually accept on just one guy when everyone else already had the quest. (and then if i really don't want to continue the quest chain i just use your abandon function)

The auto accept quest line is when someone in the group does an escort.
The dialogue box pops up and says, would you like to do this quest too?

The slaves will then automatically click yes, with this option.
You still need someone in the party to take the quest initially, which will probably be you on the master's active screen.

I would word it slightly different. Something more along the lines of...

"Complete quest with master only if Slave has selected a reward"
and the other option being fine as is
''Slave chooses same reward as master"


here is a little idea with multiple loots and different classes.
Have an option to use a modifier key (selectable from a drop down) while clicking on top of a reward choice to tell the slaves to choose that reward and then normal clicking on the reward for the main's selection, then hitting the complete quest button.

I see this as being highly useful for groups that are 1 tank and 4 of the same class/armor type, and just slightly less useful for those of completely mixed groups where the option for each slave to pick its choice may be the better route. Just a thought :)

I just skimmed the page and don't think anyone suggested this, but...

Could you create an option to change what the bars on the Jamba box show? Experience bars are virtually useless on a max-level character (or set of characters). Could you make an option to show each of their health instead? Mana?

The health option is already there if you look hard enough... Try looking in the 4th tab of the /jamba options.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to say "Accept ANY quest from Master"? I would imagine that there might be a way to check who is sharing the quest to you in Lua, but then again, there may not be. The functionality would be really handy for situations where if I share a quest to the slave, she would automatically accept it, but if somebody is sharing the Wintergrasp collection quests, she won't automatically accept it because it didn't come from my team's master.

Also, the UI looks great =)

I must have an old version, but I swear the last release was last year sometime. Meaning I should have the latest...

My 4th tab of "/jamba", labeled "Display", has a checkbox for "Show Experience Bars". I unchecked it at full health, jumped off the Orgrimmar flight path tower, and it shows nothing on my Jamba "team list" box.

I'll see what I can do for you - someone suggested adding a share button to the jamba quest window that has the abandon, select and watch buttons. This button would share the quest with the slaves and make sure the slaves accepted it. Would that work for you?

That sounds like that would effectively do the same idea =)

Only reason I thought of it was because I had turned on "Accept ANY quest" thinking it would make things easier while questing, but then when I stepped in WG raid someone shared the collection quest that I didn't want to do, so I ended up finding it in my log later on and abandoning it and turning off the "Accept ANY quest" after realizing that it did, indeed, accept ANY quest. LoL. Sounds like you've got a good alternative solution in mind =D

* Slave MUST choose own reward

you can also add a feature with a modifier key .. :

"slaves MUST choose own reward BUT will choose master's reward if shift key is pressed" something like that :)

OK, based on your feedback so far, here is what I have come up with for quest completion. The other quest options are essentially the same as the previous screenshot. Hopefully it's a lot clearer now.

not sure how hard it would be but the picking of the quest reward would be nice if you set a mod key for another besides the main example
main is pally i may pick this reward
other 4 are shammies could pick reward on one shammie screen and they all repeat what it picked

I've been reading feedback about the quest acceptance parts of Jamba and come up with the following UI. Thoughts?

HOLY HELL, that is beyond awesome and perfect. Thank you so much. Now, if I can ask one more, can you put that choice (focus/leader/master) as an option for quest completion? So if I have an alt, I complete a quest with a non-master, the alt will do what the (focus/leader/master) does? In other words, can we put in focus/leader/master instead of just master? I know I am annoying for having mixed groups. I don't mean to make messes, but I have a tailor that is 60 and I need to level him to 65 to be able to level up his profession. For 5 levels, I need to quest with him, take flightpaths, do dailies, etc. He would be my main char with other alts following him around. He is not part of a team. He is usually not in a group (since it drains exp). I have him focused on my alts. They won't take his flightpath. They won't complete quests when he does. I group for a hard elite quest and share it from him and the alts don't accept it. The alts are expecting RandomChar2 to be the master and they don't want to do what the focus does, they want to do what RandomChar2 does. It seems messy to make him in a team that isn't going to keep him. It seems messy to make him master when he isn't going to stay.

I play with him for a few hours and then want to do something else with another char. I want to farm some cloth on my mixed team. Again, different main (so tailor guy can get rest and he isn't a good fighter). The alts don't use the main's flightpath or pick up the daily quest along with him, since he isn't their master. He doesn't need to be in a team, he is only for farming. He isn't going to stay around. But the quest option doesn't work since he is a focus/leader not a master. The alts won't take his fightpath since he isn't their master.

TLDR: I am asking for a way to use focus/leader/master to be used instead of just master for at least fightpaths/complete quests/accepting quests. Thanks. And I do love your addon. Thanks. /bow

If you have a look at the text at the top of that screen shot, I know its TL and a bit small, but it says that any toon in your team will be treated as the master for quest accepting / completing / other random quest things. So when you read 'Master' substitute that for 'anyone in the team' and 'slaves' for the 'rest of your team'.

With the settings in the screenshot, if you start a quest with one team member (not necessarily the master), that team member will share the quest with other team members who automatically accept it.

Likewise with quest completion, any team member can be the master for quest completion.

I will make sure the taxi can be controlled by any team member as well.

So, that still leaves the problem of having a booster outside of the team. My answer to that is add that character to the team for the duration of the 5 levels (I know that you don't want to do that, but ...). Jamba 0.5 can handle offline characters in the same team without you having to change anything. So you could have one massive team with all your toons in it and Jamba will ignore the offline ones. Jamba 0.5 is also going to have profile support.

Ideally I'd like to make it as easy as possible for you to have different leaders and still have all your toons in the Jamba team.

A couple of things: You should be able to change masters easily with the slash commands, team members do not have to be in a party to work together.

Question is, will that work for you?

Looks great Jafula! I really like Jamba and have come to rely on it.

The one thing I might suggest for the future is having the quest features separate for dailies and regular quests. I think the dailies are marked differently so this would be possible? I would likely choose follow master for the dailies but not for regular quests. Maybe it's a moot point at L80 since I am not sure I actually do any quests beyond the dailies anymore.

Also, I use a mod called Questitembar. This makes a bar with all quest items. I found this to be quite useful for dailies etc. My dailies macro takes care of most of my needs but there are cases where I still use the questitembar. I noticed this in another quest tracker addon that I have but don't know where it was from since I disabled it (maybe questhelper? dunno). Maybe this is beyond the scope of Jamba.

As for the questitembar, yes it would have to be keybound to be of any real multibox use. The current addon does not have this at the moment. I am not sure if the default UI can do this or not. I know you can drag an item to a bar and use it, but can it automatically populate a bar/button with an item that is introduced into your inventory?

I think if you watch quests, it adds a clickable item link for the quest item next to the quest in the watch window (unless it is one of my addons doing it).

For instance having the follow buttons (the ones that turn green and red) only and an overlay on those follow buttons where you can show name (or abbreviation of) and XP %. I have started to play around with the UI in the current Jamba so if I get anywhere I will post some results.

That way addon authors can build simple addons that display the follow options the way they want them to be displayed. I will provide a simple addon that will duplicate what is already available in Jamba 0.4 and maybe I'll add other options...

The changes to the UI look really good, it seems much more straightforward now from the screenshots posted.

First off, thank you for this great addon Jafula.

Second I do have a request, not regarding the quests or anything, it's perfect(especialy if you add the slaves pick random(best) choice if none selected!). But regarding the group window, I was wondering if it was possible to add an option to A. Rearrange team order so the list is identical in the jamba box on all toons, and B. add mana to the show Health option.

Right now though, I'm having this strange thing where the health of one toon does not show up on the main characters screen and on another toons box doesnt show the health of two characters, maybe I have to reinstall Jamba to fix this?

When do you plan to release this build? I actually find the current quest ui confusing, no matter what options I pick ( i dont want it to auto accpet) he just wizzes through the quest screen.
