2 5 boxers in 10 man Naxx 3 wings down

Just wanted to post this to give some encouragement to those who may be getting resistance to boxing Naxx.

So, I normally 4/5 box Naxx 10 with a static group, but we've taken the next two weeks off so I decided that I'd play with the other 5 boxer on my server and we'd try Naxx over the past two nights. I wasn't very hopeful. We managed to get 6/15 right before server shutdown for the patch :\ Full clear of Spider, Noth, Patchwerk, and Instructor. Maexxna was by far the hardest, esp with her stealth buff in 10 man naxx this week, but after ~30ish wipes, we finally got it down. Patchwerk took 2 tries, which shocked me to no end. Noth was 3, we danced for a bit on Heigan (smokebummys first dance lessons, which was more experience than real attempts), and Instructor was ezmode when we got a good rhythm down. Gothik would be cake too, but we got shut down in the middle of the fight. (Damn Patch!) :)

We both run Unholy DK/4 Shamans, and did Noth/Anubrekan/Grand Widow with 4 elemental, but opted for the 3 elemental/1 resto setup after beating both of our collective heads into walls in Maexxna's room. :)

I just love it when people say "That'll be impossible," and end up proving them wrong. He's the fat cows, I'm the smexy orcs.

Pre nerf, he'd be impossible. Post nerf, he's doable, but - if it was your first time in Naxx w/ another boxer who's cleared the whole thing, and he/she took you to Grobbulus before other bosses and made you try that fight - wouldn't you want to punch them in the face? :)

TBH - I'm more concerned with Gluth than Grobbulus. 4 Horse shouldn't be too terribad with bloodlust balls to the wall method, but Gluth - I'm not so sure. That's why I wasn't rushing to get past Grobbulus.

Well, Grobbulus is quite easy if the dps is kept up high.

Tank take the globs, all dps shammies throw in cl's, very nice dps means a short fight and injections dont come too fast.

And shamans can run away just far enough, cleanse, run back. (saves time and makes consecutive injections on the same boxer to be easily managable.)

I did grob pre-nerf without a hitch with the cleansing trick really, back when shamans were still only doing barely 2k dps. He's too easy now as we kill him in under 3 minutes. :P


And well, as to the rookie naxx'er. Gotta start sometime, somewhere. ;) But like I said. With the right tactic, I think you can do him. Would love to see 2 5-boxers clear out naxx. :D

I did Grobb 4 boxing pre nerf too, and it is just hectic. The only added thing with us is having to tank and keep the follower shaman in range while getting out of the clouds with the tank. That's my concern, really. But I suppose it's no worse than having to deal with regathering shaman after the cocoons on Maex, but - still, I'm happy to beef up his ego after clearing Spider and getting some of the gimmicky fights down, like Instructor first. I thought if I subjected him to Grobbulus, after already subjecting him to Heigan, he may ragequit and destroy his own keyboard. :)

Grats on Undying BTW - I saw it in the other thread. We were so close the week before last, but we had a craptacular timing on Kel with a Tomb on our offtank at the exact WRONG moment. What's your normal group makeup btw? We usually have Prot Warrior/Prot Pally/double Holy Priest/Affliction Lock/Mage (who's spec changes daily)/and then I.

It made me sad.

I don't even want to think about Kel and Sapphiron 2 boxered. I think I'll make him tank both fights. :)

Do like us, don't use an offtank. :> Our maintank takes the adds as well (DK tank). Works like a charm, and no tomb RNG :D

This week was my first week trying Naxx and it was pretty interesting to say the least. Shaggir (alemi) spent alot of time teaching me the fights. I have to say it went ALOT better then I expected. I love how all this started, I logged on one day and said "Hey shaggir" he replyed "Where have you been?, we're gonna do Naxx" I replyed " We are?.... ok"

Unfortunately this week will probably be our only shot at Naxx, considering I'm on vacation(I really cannot play as much when I'm working) and Shaggir's guild is taking a break from Naxx this week. Hopefully we'll be able to progress further.

Don't be so glum :) We're mostly progressing in 25 man now, and 10 is just kind of a maybe on the side. We'll get plenty more Naxx time in here and there depending on your hellish work schedule :)

My guild chat was hysterical when my DK (tank specced so I haven't used him in 10 man cause we have 8 tanks) got the Spider Quarter clear achievement. "You and Smoke just... Holy Shit"

Suprisingly enough, my first team I was the only boxer Alliance side on Auchindoun shortly after BC and then rerolled my team to the side with my "main" in the guild I've been in for years. I thought my multiboxing project would be something I'd do every now and then - when not raiding or bored doing heroics, and found that I really enjoyed it too much to play singly anymore. I rerolled my shamans on Coilfang (where my 70 druid was) and kept getting whispers "You have another team" while I was leveling and was confused that these people knew me from Auch. I had no idea there was a 2nd boxer on the server, and I think we finally met up shortly before both of our teams hit 70. We've been boxing buddies since. :)

Just conincidence, that suprisingly worked out very very well.

Wondering, how on earth did you do the 4 horsemen?

I imagine it's pretty easy to do 4h, as you can easily nuke the first down (thane) before having to move much (apart from on Lady from black circles). Then one can focus on getting baron/zel while the other goes lady/zel. At least, I'd assume that's how they did 4h most likely.

this is the kind of thing that almost tempts me to open wow accounts.

Well, depending on their dps yeah, if they can get Thane down before the 5th mark, otherwise the whole story is way more complicated with just 2 players and 5 toons each. But thats why I was wondering how they did that, just curiousity.

as I understand they got 6 elemental shamans (might be mistaken), but that is enough to kill him before the 3rd mark even in half decent gear, which One of them has, the other probably not, so dps a bit lower, still easily managable on the 3rd mark then. You only need about 12-15k dps to do him before the 5th mark., that's easily managable. :P Alemi alone would do 10k-ish dps probably (bloodlusted and all)

Anyhow, in a very low dps group, yes, it's far more complicated and probably impossible. But I do believe they can easily do the kill strategy without much problems. :p And once Thane dies, it's basicly relax time really. Much less stressy then.

(If the other one is as geared as Alemi, they would be able to do baron before 5th mark too probably. >.>

I know how to do it with bursting him down, heck running with 2 prot pallys in the start of wotlk kinda left us no other choise, but i just wonder how they did it :)

4h doesn't seem like it'd be too hard even the "normal" way.

2 shaman in the back, one in each corner, just spamming lhw on themselves to stay alive.
DK+3 shaman in each of the front 2 corners.
Front shaman off follow, when the 3rd mark lands the 2 dk's run over and taunt off each other, dragging the new npc back to their corner.
After the swap, switch sides on the 2 shaman in the back.

What boss are you currently stuck on? Did you get Grobbulus down?

Quality suxxors and they're sped up a bit since it was an 8 minute fight. I had to break it into 2 vids since I had to reincarnate a shaman after i had 2 get one shot by a holy wrath on the last pass when smoke and I got a little too confident and passed right next to each other (10 chains of holy wrath mean #8,9 and 10 HURT). We easily could have just straight nuked Thane outright, but it would have made things a lot harder with Rivendare and the back. I mean, in the vid, I took thane from like 90% to 40% in 3 marks including movement time - and having some craptacular positioning trying to get Zeliek nuking my dk not my shaman.

Grobbulus was pretty much a demoralizer for Smoke yesterday. I'm thinking we may go back tonight and try again, or may just skip him and at least get Gluth. We tried the heal through the explosions, which didn't work well, since it just makes high movement. It's hard for whoever is tanking him to move their shaman out, becuase when we do that we get threat issues. We tried where I'd just use my dk to mitigate some magic damage and use my range on the boss while smoke tanked grobb and the slimes and I'd move my shaman out and cleanse and run back (becuase I'm used to the fight, he's not), but then slimes would pull off and own us. I think it's we're just going to need a little more practice on him tonight to find the best mix of strategies. We did get him to 60% in less than a minute at one point, and then he chain injected my dk which led to all our shamans sitting in a cloud and dying since they were set to follow me to stay in range of grobbulus. It feels like they buffed him back up again too if anyone hasn't tried him this week. Injections were hitting for 10k again, and the clouds were growing at the same rate. :(

Patchwerk and Noth were vidded as well. I forgot to do Loatheb, becuase we, well, one shot him and I was expecting at least some learning curve on him, but he's a JOKE with 8 chain heals.

Basically for Four Horse, I parked my shaman where Blambeaux drops, Smoke parked his where Zeliek drops. We each ran up and icy touched Riverdare/Thane respectively. We then tanked Rivendare with Blam, and Thane with Zeliek. Waited for a meteor and 3rd mark, called a swap and death gripped the correct melee off. Rivendare/Blambeaux side just went for survival and minor damage on the horsemen while the side with Thane went for DPS. When Thane was down we then hit Rivendare hard and then it's just cleanup.

Probably THE MOST fun fight ever with 2 boxers. Gothik was a close 2nd.

Thats exactly how we did it except we just tanked two of them in the back and just switched off. Plain nuking was not an option.

We are currently stuck on Grobbulus. Doesn't look good at the moment because of my setup and my lack of experience in raids and dealing with bosses like this. We may try again tonight after alittle bit of tweaking on my setup but maybe not.

Hopefully we can do it cuz tonight may be our only shot before i go back to working my hectic schedule. In any case I'm pretty happy with how far we got :) considering I really have no raid experience and Shaggir (The Brain) had to explain all the fights and come up with some crazy strategies. I mean "come on" on Heigan I put all my 4 shamans to follow Shaggir and we ended up killing the freaken guy and Shaggir kept all of the guys alive and got me the "The Safety Dance" achievment :thumbsup: . How many people out there are actually able to do something like this??? lol

Finally Grobbulus is a @#$%! and should go jump off a bridge with the guy who designed him.

unless they do less then 1500 or so dps per dps spot (which I doubt) they won't need to do the charges. :P

How can you box thaddius? the groups ive done him with both 10 and 25man have all stayed real close to him, and just swapped sides depending on charges etc. which would be too hard to do with 4/5 guys quick enough

Is there a way I could take my dk tank and 4 shaman in and do it half effectivly, or would I just have to take the 4 eles in. Was thinking maybe I could leave a shaman on the corner of each of the platforms you jump down from and reach him, but im not sure if you can stay on those platforms or what the deal is.

Smoke and I aren't going to be progressing in Naxx anytime soon (he had to go back to work and works insane hours so it's pretty much a no go) but Thaddius is easymode to box.

On 10 man, as Kaynin said, don't even worry about charges. Tip: He has LESS hp than Patchwerk, but the same enrage timer. If you can kill Patchwerk, then you can kill Thaddius in 10 man without having to stack charges.

On 25 man, most hunters don't stack, and as long as your healers are stacking he's not too terribad. I'd suggest just stacking your dk and leave your other 3 spread out. Thaddius is kind of a trick on 25 (As he was on 40). The encounter encourages stacking, which then also encourages more raid damage (since you're stacked and his Chain Lightning will chain through a bunch of people). In 40 man, we'd have a majority of healers (resto shams/holy priests) dps and use druids/paladins to heal - the strategy works well regardless. In a 25 man setting you only need 5.5k dps (with the stacked charges) per 15 dps to beat the enrage. I can hit 5k per shaman on a patchwerk/instructor fight in a 25 man setting, ez. - which is essentially what you're turning Thaddius into for your the shaman who are not stacking. If you're pulling less than 4k, then it'll be a pain for the rest of your raid to pick up the slack. 4.5k should be pretty easy for you tho with 25 man buffs/consumables.

er, so can you just spread out and the back of one of the sides and not have to worry about zappin anyone else?

As long as everyone is spread out, not close to anyone else. Then yes. Plenty of room for it on 10 man.

The charge is 10 yards, so with only 4 dps per side it shouldn't be too difficult to spread out far enough.

If you position them at 11 yards, you could even take a small step towards a like-charged player to get +10% damage on both. As long as you take a small step back when he casts polarity shift.

I sure couldn't lol. We tried multiboxing Heigan last week with all dps on my follow and I couldn't keep them alive for anything. They'd follow quickly enough during the slow dance, but the fast one took the followers out every time. Latency maybe? We ended up doing the half hour method...you know, tank and healer tediously dancing forever! Oh that sucked! lol

It takes some practice, but it's really not that bad.

This week my guild finally cleared 25 man naxx, and we lost 14 (every single pugger and about 7 of my guildmates) on Heigan. Turned into a 9 minute fight, and I had to dance 5 times iirc. I only screwed up on one pass and needed a priest to COH my group, but I survived every single dance on my main and all my alts. It's actually now one of the more fun fights for me. :)

Grobbulus btw, is a joke on 25 man - whereas Thaddius is a beast.

I just finally watched your video. I think when I first read this I thought you meant simply that the same player tanked Rivendare and Blaumeaux, Thane and Zeliek...not that you actually tanked two horsemen next to each other! How does this work for marks? We had our first multiboxing attempt at The Four Horsemen last weekend and it was disastrous. The biggest issue was keeping Blaumeaux's tank out of holes while keeping track of things up front. This could solve the hole problem but might bring others. Looks intense.
