Too many teams??

My RAF recently expired and for the past three months, I've been a machine, totally focused on getting as many teams as I could to 60 before the expiration date. My ultimate goal was to squeeze as much as I could out of RAF and NEVER have to play a newbie team ever again, or at least for a very very VERY long time, when the goodness of 3x xp is a distant memory.

The quad box teams I ended up with:

Server 1:

Horde: Paly Shaman Shaman Druid
Alliance: Druid X 4

Server 2:

Horde: Warlock X3 Priest

Alliance: Shaman X 4
Paly Mage Mage Druid
Gifted 1 - 60 Warrior and Warlock

Server 3:

Horde: Paly Shaman Shaman Druid
Rogue Mage Mage Priest
Gifted Paly and Hunter alts to 60

So, now I'm faced with a conundrum I didn't see coming - I have too many options! I don't know which darn team I want to start with first as my main. For three months I had a lot of focus and but that is no more. And also I face the task of leveling up all their professions that I had neglected in favor of leveling speed, something I'm not all that looking forward to. And the combinations of those professions, etc! Yeesh!

Any advice? On first team choice and professions? Bear in mind that I have yet to really get into Outlands and instancing so from what I've read on the forums, going with a Paladin + ShamanX3 team may best way to go?

I'm not sure how you could not foresee this. As it seems like an obvious issue with RAFing up so many teams...

Which team you level up depends largely on your goals. If you just want to PvP, I would suggest the all druid or all shammy teams. IF you want to run instances, I would recomment the Pally, Shamx2 Druid team, and try to find a healer that will run with you regularly.

Why did you make them on different servers?

Hindsight it seems an obvious issue but it just never occurred to me, I guess I assumed a favorite would arise naturally in the bunch. However, they were all fun in their own ways, so that didn't really happen. My husband gave me an exasperated look when I mentioned my predicament to him, he too was unsure how that hadn't occurred to me before now. Oh well. But then, he thinks I'm wacko for doing this in first place. :wacko:

Thanks for the input! I'm purely PVE so I think I will go with with the pally/shaman(2)/druid team. Not sure how possible it will be to get a regular healer to run with me though, everyone I know are playing death knights right now.

The reason for the different servers are names, basically. I had some names of old characters that I liked and deleted to use for multiboxing.

Heehee, good to know. Long time affliction of Alt-itis is what lead to me having so many names saved up on different servers but at least it all worked out in the end. ;)

It's too bad they aren't on the same server so you could more easily sub in different characters.

Well since you are PVE oriented then I would take that suggestion from above, use the Pally/Shaman/Druid team. I leveled 3 teams in the end as well but ended up taking the Pally/shaman team beyond 70, Pally is 73 now and shaman are 71, I really like the pally tank. But as of late I have been running 2 alts the Doomkin and the Mage. These 2 are now 64 and I run it with Pally tank 73 and Shaman 71 and they work really well together, just like you I run a quad team. I took the team to Ramps, BF, SP, Underbog and had a blast with them, so right now I am wondering if I should take the druid and mage up to 70 take them to northrend and make it my mix main team or not, I am like the only one in the guild that is no where near 80 which I think is making my guild leader not like me much as my other Pally was always a main healer for the guild.

I think you will have fun and enjoy the Pally/Shaman/Druid teams a lot, seems that the Druid does bring quite a bit to the group. Well hope you can make up your mind and enjoy the game its what its all about.

If all your friends are DK it might make sense for your to spec your Pally healing and find a regular DK tank.

I 5 box, but I find it much easire to box tanking + dps or healing + dps. Tanking + healingis much harder.

I still don't get why people do this... Getting a bunch of teams up to 60 in 3 months, meanwhile some of us have gotten 1-2 teams to 80 in the same amount of time, now we're doing fun end game stuff, running instances, perfecting our team, and those who chose to make a bunch of teams are just hitting outland and wondering which team to level.

It then goes full circle and that same person starts leveling a team to 70, then realizes they want to use a different team and starts leveling that team to 70. Then at 70 the same thing happens going to 80. By the time you guys get to 80 the NEXT expansion will be out and we'll all be leveling to 90 :D

Yeah, I thought about going all out and getting mulitple groups up. But once i got to 60 with my shamans and pally all i could see was 70 at the time. So i kept levelling them. then noticed that my RAF was almost expired. I think all i levelled with RAF were my main team which i play all the time and have a blast with, And a warrior that i had levelled a long time ago to 30 that i gifted to 60. (i have yet to actually play him since).

I just couldnt see the point in doing it all again when im having enough fun with the group i wanted in the first place.

Keep in mind that i was playing solo for 2 years before this and had levelled every class to at least 60 except for a druid and priest. I just cant stand levelling in the old world basically...

You really need to run 5 instead of 4 .... buy another computer or whatever it takes that bit of extra exp you lose is going to add up in the long run.

Well you know umm I was going to make some alts as well on the grounds that today shammy might be OP (well ... lol) but tommorow who knows what class will be OP, also really want a mage for transport and rouge for lock boxes but "at the end of the day" I just gonna roll with 25 shammy and 1 pal ... be it good or bad.

Well yeah, I have the same thing, but only with single boxing. I just want to experience every class. So, when I started multiboxing I RAFed where all my accounts were slaves from my main, which made it possible to get an instant-60 of every class on my main account (I already had a couple 70s on my main account as well). Now if I ever have the desire to play a different class I just try a new level 60+ on my main account.

Starting a whole new "team" because I want to try something new would be the biggest waste of time ever. On a fresh team it takes almost 8 hours in the first 30 levels just to set all my macros up properly (I like having a full set of advanced/complex macros that do everything the exact way I want). If I were just going to abandon the team later I'd hate the fact that I spent so much time on everything, and yeah I'm totally sick of 1-60 now.

My other team (current is a DK + 4 shamans) is a priest + 4 warlocks. When I hit 70 on my shamans I decided I was "bored" of the shamans and I'd heard good things about 5x dots, so I did the priest/warlock. I was having a blast, made it all the way to 65 before realizing I couldn't do any instances hardly, and other than battlegrounds at 70 it was a dead end and really the gimmick of dotting everything wore off fairly quick. Thats when I picked my shamans back up again and realized why I started them in the first place (they can pretty much do anything) - thats when I decided I didn't care that I still had RAF and I just took my shamans and played nothing but them. Hopefully I can keep the alt-itis under control long enough to deck them out in 80 epics and experience most of the WotLK PvE content so I don't waste too much time playing the same repetitive 1-60(70) grind over again :)

lol im doing the same thing with my raf ending on dec 30 for 4 accounts. Thank god my main account has some 70's so i know what 4 to lvl. I got my shammy team and dk team over 60 druid team close next will be lock and hunter quad teams which will be done next weekend. If this all works out i might still be able to roll a quad mage and quad sp team but your right i dont ever want to worry about a newbie team ever again. Ill have all teams but pally and warrior and im not to worried about those two.

I just wanted to use RAF to make as many team combinations as I could that were interesting to me (tried to start a quad female dwarf hunter team but just couldn't get into it) so in the event I became bored with one team in the mid-60s/70s, I could just switch to another that was already waiting for me at level 60, rather than start them from scratch without 3X experience.

I may end up adding a fifth account some time in the future but I haven't really felt the need. Maybe that'll change once I start doing Outland instances but I'm hoping if I get a 2-3 levels over each instance when I run it, it may still be doable with four.

Fun end game stuff heh. Been there done that i dont think northrend is all that good i like the thrill of leveling. When you hit the level cap and do the same thing over n over n over again you cant tell me you dont get bored. I love the idea also having many teams at 60. This means like stated above if you get bored with one team you can get on another team. For me its the thrill of trying to run multiple classes at one time and trying to perfect more then just one class. I mean whats the fun you get one team to 80 and learn it but a raid whats more then what you have. At least having multiple groups multiple specs you will always have what a raid needs. Like for instance i got to lvl 70 with shamans and was like wow now im bored. So i rolled dk's love playing them but ran outta rested so i said new team. Plus doing more teams means i can blow thru instances in outlands with full rested bars and lvl more teams and have more to do then just raid and do dailies. I mean yea i love raiding in all but after bc i got burnt on it. Getting on and as soon as you get on hey can you heal for this or that cause your one of the guilds best healers BLAH. Spend 3-4 hrs in a raid and get nothing for a drop got annoying after awhile.

Hehe you got the same thing I normally got, its like get on your healer we need you at one point I got really tired of it and just let my guild leader know that if he could not fill up the healing spot I do it but if he could go ahead and do it. I wanted to be able to get my DPS guys in there, my hunter and my shaman did not get a whole lot of raid time cause they always wanted my healer. Biggest reason I did multiple teams was because I wanted to try them all out since I was a novice Multiboxer and the expansion had not come out yet, my RAF ended like a week after the expansion came out so I did as many teams as I could which ended up being 3 with almost all my main account char's spots having a 60 in there as alts. But the Pally+Shaman team I find to be a very fun team, but I also seem to like adding my druid and mage into the mix so trying to get them up to 70 so that I can have both a Pally+Shaman team and a Pally+Mix team.

Shaden - I fell your pain. Went through almost the same thing last month. I had 4 level 70's and a 66 that I was grinding through BC end game content and a whole tribe of bank/crafter alts spread on two accounts - I was probably more of a farmer & builder than a raider (got boring day after day) - and I am 90% PVE. Then learned about RAF and found this site... And my laptop happened to be hefty enough to run 4 WoWs at once (for BC & Azeroth) - my whole gaming life changed. http://www.wemultibox.com/blogs/singpraise (I am a lousy blogger - bleh)

The way I solved my crisis (24+ level 60s & my old 70's & WotLK releasing & completely burned out on leveling in Azeroth) was to figure out what was fun & focus on that.

First I made a hybrid group of my 70's & the 66 and used them to plod through Northrend (they are 74 & 73 now). My laptop just barely cuts it in WotLK - so the first two weeks were hell and all the dang BT & HF collection quests drove me nuts.

When plodding wasn't fun I grabbed some hunters (I found them the most fun leveling - and 3.0.2 was THE BM hunter patch). I also found that having a mixed group wasn't so bad - so I mixed and matched my teams. Currently have 3x hunters & 1 shammy at level 64/65 and another "mixed hybrid" team (Lock, Mage, Shammy & the 4th hunter with a Gorriladin tank - my utility players - high level tailor & inscriptions & mage for portals & lock for summons) at 63/62.

Switch among them based on rested xp available & fun factor...

Do I miss not having an 80 or 4 80's and running heroics? Yeah a bit - but I will get there eventually. (It helps that I started WoW right after BC came out - so I was always hearing about guildies doing firsts - when I was dragging Sing through Stocks for the first time ;) - so I can hang in there and realize it wills till be fun when I make it in a month or two) ( And I will get a new monster gaming machine eventually & maybe try 5 boxing.)

Bottom line: do your own thing & focus on the fun... Enjoy.

Never having to start from level 1 again? I have a few teams, but a guild mate of mine leveled up: 5xPaladin, 5xHunter, 5xLock, 5xDruid, 5xShamen. My RAF ended 2 days before the XPAC and his was 2-3 days after. So we didn't lose any time getting to Northrend by having more teams. Also, it's very rewarding if you're a goal-oriented person to challenge yourself to get all the teams you are hoping for in the given time frame (3 months).

Best thing I decided to do was to just mothball every other team I did,until I get the urge to play that class and concentrate on just 1x5 team to 80,I figure after doing endgame i'll get my appetite back for OL/AZE world game play and need a break from Northrend.
1st team I would always do would be one capable of hitting Heroics,whatever format that is for you.
Just so I could rotate in a fresh character for badges gold and whatnot.
Shaman Pally/DK would be my choice.

My RAF ended 2 days before the XPAC and his was 2-3 days after. So we didn't lose any time getting to Northrend by having more teams. Also, it's very rewarding if you're a goal-oriented person to challenge yourself to get all the teams you are hoping for in the given time frame (3 months).

Why would I ever start from level 1 again? My main account has one of every single class between 60 and 80. My other 4 accounts will never need anything other than shaman as they will always (I don't care what anyone says - always) be viable as DPS or healing, so for PvE and PvP I will never need anything other than those 4 on my alt accounts.

And yes I do love the leveling process itself, but as a SINGLE character. Leveling with 5 is FAR more tedious and boring than leveling a single character. Instances, PvP, etc, is where the multiboxing fun is, and you get almost none of that from 1-60. Plus once you have 9 or 10 teams to 60 then what? Now you level them to 70, then 80, without any RAF bonus. By the time you get to 80 now you're so sick of the game you never want to play it again and you spent hundreds of hours just doing the same 84 hours of content over and over and over again :)

Edit: And yes, I understand this will not change anyone's mind here, just sayin... :)

Options. It's all about options. I now have the option to select one of several teams to level if I ever feel like it. Some may languish at 60 indefinitely, who knows, but they'll always be there ready and waiting for me to get the itch to play them.

Personally, I just can't understand how anyone would want to level a single character after having multiboxed.

I don't either. I haven't leveled a single character after I've multiboxed. If you multibox 2 teams, you can grant all the rest of your main account characters to 60 without having to level any of them :P

Guess I'm just looking at the entire thing realistically from a human nature perspective. Since I started multiboxing a few months ago, I've leveled 1 team to almost 80 (77 and counting), 1 to 65, and then granted a bunch of characters to 60. I've saved up almost enough to buy 5x epic flyers, experienced a lot of PvP, most instances, etc. I see people on the forums that started playing right around the time I started that don't have a single character above 60 yet. They're busy leveling a large number of teams.

Heres where the human nature thing comes in. People get bored with things eventually. Bored with the game entirely. It happens to everyone. It certainly has happened to me a lot. In the 3 1/2 years I've played WoW I've quit at least 4 times for >6 months before coming back, sometimes > a year. I know that some (not all I'm sure, but quite a lot) of the people that are leveling tons of teams to 60 will probably get bored and stop playing before they even get a single team to northrend. Maybe before they get a single team to outland. I guess if thats still fulfilling to some people then thats all that matters but it sure seems like a waste to me to experience 1/8th of the game content 8 times and not experience the other 7/8 of the content of the game.

Point being, I honestly don't care how people spend their time playing the game, but I used to be an altaholic also before I started multiboxing and usually thats what caused me to lose interest in the game in the first place. I would re-activate my subscription, start playing my "main", get bored and start a new class. Hit 60/70 with the new class, get bored with the game and stop again. My first 3 max-level characters all triggered the end of my subscription for a long period of time LOL. Not saying that happens to everyone but it doesn't hurt to throw all this out there and maybe someone leveling a ton of teams will realize theres no way they'll ever get to play even 1/4 of their teams to a point where it matters (where the team selection would make a difference, which is really only max level, before max level you can run any combination and it will never hinder you from being able to do anything).

Now I'm babbling so I'll stop posting in this thread :) I only get riled up about this subject because I used to BE you guys lol ;)

I know that some (not all I'm sure, but quite a lot) of the people that are leveling tons of teams to 60 will probably get bored and stop playing before they even get a single team to northrend. Maybe before they get a single team to outland. I guess if thats still fulfilling to some people then thats all that matters but it sure seems like a waste to me to experience 1/8th of the game content 8 times and not experience the other 7/8 of the content of the game.

Point being, I honestly don't care how people spend their time playing the game, but I used to be an altaholic also before I started multiboxing and usually thats what caused me to lose interest in the game in the first place. I would re-activate my subscription, start playing my "main", get bored and start a new class. Hit 60/70 with the new class, get bored with the game and stop again. My first 3 max-level characters all triggered the end of my subscription for a long period of time LOL. Not saying that happens to everyone but it doesn't hurt to throw all this out there and maybe someone leveling a ton of teams will realize theres no way they'll ever get to play even 1/4 of their teams to a point where it matters (where the team selection would make a difference, which is really only max level, before max level you can run any combination and it will never hinder you from being able to do anything).

Now I'm babbling so I'll stop posting in this thread :) I only get riled up about this subject because I used to BE you guys lol ;)

What really irritates me is you seem to be passing judgements and making a lot of baseless assumptions about people who used RAF to level several teams to 60. You used to BE us? What exactly does that mean? Now you're above us? Beyond it all? Transcended? Why is there an 'us and you' anyway in the first place? And if you don't care about how people play their game, then why are you getting 'riled up' at all?

I just find your over reaction a bit odd, I guess.

I know how you feel. I have my original boxing team at 80 now... doing dailies, grinding rep, tweaking +hit/+crit, profs, and badges... yawn. I made several teams using RAF, and will be going back to them soon.

The only real advice I have is play the team that you enjoy. For me I think my 4 hunter + feral druid seems hillarious with gorrilladins... so that is what I will most likely go back to first. I will say that I am not looking forward to boxing wrath content again, the rested state will help but it seemed to take forever with all the chains that require collection quests. The primary plus is I have most of my crafters skilled up to make a lot of the gear for what ever team I want to enjoy.

Oh and I did have fun in Stratholme (the original one) with a pack of four DKs and a resto shaman. Pretty crazy how easy it was considering the DKs were at 58.

Play what you have fun with... anything else is work and your not getting paid to play (unless your really lucky).

Since I started multiboxing a few months ago, I've leveled 1 team to almost 80 (77 and counting), 1 to 65, and then granted a bunch of characters to 60. You seem to want to interpret my posts as direct insults to you, so whatever, nothing I say is going to change how you feel about that. Why does a statement like "I used to BE you" have to be derogatory? (If I said you were rich and "I used to BE you", would that be derogatory?) I was simply stating that I used to spent days of /played time leveling a character, then switching to another character, repeat indefinitely. I didn't say that it was altogether a really bad thing, just in hindsight it really seems like a waste of time and I feel like I'm JUST now getting to experience some of the game - since leveling 1-60 is about 1/8 of the game these days, probably more like 1/20. The only reason I made the posts at all is because I've spent weeks, maybe months of /played time in 3 1/2 years doing nothing but leveling alts (since pre-BC when 1-60 took a LOT longer). Wish I hadn't spent so much time doing that now. I figured MAYBE someone would read this and think "hmm, yeah, I guess I'll pick my favorite team and experience some content other than 1-60 with them" :P

If thats not what you think when you read my posts, then no big deal, they're obviously not targetted towards you. Honestly, not trying to insult anyone, just giving input that might provide insight into some altaholics. If all the altaholics here seemed to actually enjoy leveling teams over and over again I probably wouldn't have even made the post, but I see posts all the time about "if I level one more team I'm going to puke", etc. Whats the point in playing a game if you make it more like a job?

Yea talk about making to many teams lol. Lets see i did my shaman group started on dk's but wasnt impressed leveling without rested can u say big ewwwww. So decided lets make more before raf ends. This way i always have a fresh team to work on with full rested. So now i have my druid team almost all set ones 70 rest are 60 so letting them get rested. Before raf ends im getting my 5 locks all to 61 then granting levels. Then oh joy to my surprise raf doesnt end on 3 of the 4 accounts i have left on the 30 they get to the 11 of jan. So i will be tri boxing to try and get one mixed grp with mages and shadow priest and a holy priest and maybe a pally for tanking. I have another mixed grp but was no fun holy pally, prot warrior, ele shaman, mut rogue, and sp. They are all 60 but ehh.

I'm currently leveling 3 more alt teams to complement my current "1 of every class" 10 man group. By the end of it all, I'll have hit my goal of leveling 1 of everything for all applicable roles of every class. 1 of every class built to DPS; warrior, paladin, druid, and Death knight tanks, and a pally, shaman, priest, and druid healer. With a few overlaps because that's only 18.

Will I ever hit 25 man raiding? Who knows. Not for 6 months at least as I'm still looking at a fair bit of leveling and gearing, but at this point, gear is really a secondary concern for me anyway. 90% of performance is execution, and that's where I want to shine.

Sure, I could do it with off-specs with just 10 characters, but its really hard to get out of the playstyles I write for my guys, especially since their existance is based around a solitary purpose.

I still can't get over that you want to give yourself more options, but made teams on different servers and factions. You would have a lot more options if you organized the characters onto one server and had 3 characters per account to mix and match. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's what I am thinking. If you make any more teams, I urge you to truly expand your options by using one server.

The names I had on old characters were just kick ass and it was worth it to me. Don't mind at all that I have teams on different servers. I doubt I'll be making any more teams in the future, however.
