It may be too early but I am very concerned that doing heroics with 5 shaman will not be easy as bc. All the more reason to level my pally to 80 once my shamans make it there. I HATE leveling :cursing:

I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe L80 gear will be the entire difference, but after struggling on the last boss in the Nexus and seeing how hard the first boss in Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom hits, I can't imagine how hard these guys will hit @ 80 heroics. I'm hoping that some instances will still be doable, as if I even have 1 or 2 heroics that I can farm daily for badges / orbs, I'll be happy.
By the looks of things so far, i'll be either forced to have my 5s partner (resto druid) start farming tank gear, and probably level my paladin (70) as well.
Anyway I look at this I am leveling my pally and 5th shaman to 80.
I was really scared of this when earth elementals stayed at level 70. I do think it is too early to say either way. There might be some gearing up to do before you jump successfully into heroics.
I am not much of a historian but when the first 5 shaman team showed up did anyone think they could do heroics?
edit: If it does work out that you need a tank. Well you only have to go 25 levels with a death knight. I haven't installed wotlk yet so I have no personal experience with it. I watch the videos of fuzzyboy and I see myself thinking I want to drop a shaman for a tank. But this isn't the way I want to play. I am dropping a shaman for a mage b/c the group of people I plan on doing 10 mans with decided it would be a good thing.
Why were shaman effective in heroics before?
1) Good Burst (still think we have this)
2) Surviability (we hit like a mage and wear a shield come on)
3) buffs
And THAT is why it's much easier to get grant funding as an experimentalist than as a theoretical physicist.Quote:

"Hi I found awesome new particle! Grants plz?"
If you look at xbox's videos he/she kites alot of stuff. Alot more things than I ever do. Also the gear level was significantly lower than what most people were achieving.
Even if 1tank 4 dps are clearing heroics before 5dps groups doesn't mean that 5 dps won't ever be able to do it. Given enough time to try out strats and figure stuff out they will eventually figure it out.
well looking on lvl 70 heroics mobs/bosses just hit harder while they dont realy have THAT much more hp..
5 shamans will have 5 hexes.
Remember the new rep tabards wich means you dont realy need to be able to clear ALL heroics.
I haven't done 80 Heroics yet so I can't comment, but from experience so far normal mode instances 70-80 have been easier then 60-70 (thanks to our new 3.0 powers). I could clear UK/Nexus with far more ease and speed at 71-72 then I could ever clear slavepens/UB at 63-64 (pre 3.0) for example, nova stuns and TS have made all trash pulls trivial... adding hex at 80...yeah, I believe HM trash at 80 will be a complete joke with our new arsenal. That just leaves the bosses, based on what ive done so far and looking at their HM hitpoints I don't think most of them will be a big deal but thats just my theorcrafting opinion at this point, if you just want some badges everyday from 5mans im sure theres going to be a set of joke bosses to farm
You got to remember :
1.Hex
2.premades on murmur in blue pvp gear had 17k hp unbuffed
It should be doable by 5 dps team.
I've only done heroic utgard and the first boss in nexus, but I felt like saying, godspeed to tankless groups who try the last boss in heroic utgard. His regular attacks hit my paladin for ~4k vs 28k armor plus some other attack of his hits for 12-15k..
I think I have concerns about any of my possible teams in BC heroics, simply because of the more complex boss fights. Maybe they just feel "more complex" because they're new, but I certainly can see that there will be issues with heroic boss fights that may cause problems.
It's way too soon to theorycraft our way into "sky is falling" type predictions, however.
I will say that normal mode instance boss encounters were harder for my hunter team than I expected... mostly due to the AoE damage that the team takes. I expected to somewhat fly through UK and Nexus at 70, which was not the case at all. They're both doable after a lot of education (and some gearing/leveling up), but the boss fights are harder than I expected. Trash is of no consequence-- almost easier than I'd expected.
I definitely wish I could have stayed with Pally+4xHunters for instancing, since 8 BoMights is sooooo yummy for AP gain. There's too much boss AoE for that to work out well, unfortunately. Druid+4xHunters has turned out to be a much better combination.
I run pally+shammys and I worry about heroics. I agree, the boss encounters so far feel harder than TBC in regular, and they have got to be even worse in heroic mode. Oh well, the nice thing is that with tabards we can hopefully find a few bosses that are easy to do. I just hope I can find one that drops frozen orbs, would like to farm them before they drop down in value too much.
Would love to start hearing comments from people who are multiboxing heroics, theres gotta be a few 80 teams out there -- i'm only 75 :(

You need the grant funding to find the particle to begin with. Equipment costs money. What do experimentalists need grants for? All they do is sit around reading books and writing stuff on chalk boards. =P
I've only tried a few heroics with my 5 shaman team. So far I've gotten a few of the earlier bosses down, but then run into problems on some others. I'm really waiting for the Savage Glad gear to come out to see how it goes, and I've switched back to my s4 pvp gear, instead of my pve set. Namely, the few problems I'm noticing in heroics - hex on trash is very limited. Almost 75% of dungeon mobs are un-ccable, undead, elemental, dragonkin, mechanical, etc. Boss fights are just nuts. Almost all the heroic bosses I've encountered are immune to groundings (1st boss in Utgarde, 7.5k shadowbolts every 2 seconds). And others just hit like trucks, 7-8k a hit. Elementals at this level have 10.2k hp, so they get 2 shot at a minimum.Quote:

They're doable, most defintely. It's just working out a stategy to make them doable at this point. The only one that may be near impossible for ANY boxing team is Occulus. But we have to see about it.
Also, it's really early in the xpansion. We'll refine tactics, learn encounters better, etc. My first clear of Utgarde Pinnacle took nearly 3 hours, with 15+ wipes, waiting for elementals, etc. I went back today and didn't wipe on a single boss (1 wipe during the whole run on trash because i was stoopid and fell down some broken stairs near the end).
Anyway, there are tough encounters out there, for boxer teams and non-boxer teams alike. Some encounters my friends find difficult, I find super easy. /shrug
