Nerf Lavaburst!
With PvP gloves on you should have a 40 yard FlameShock which is insanely far btw, farther than any other damage spell we get, so it's an easy opener, then it's a 1.5 second cast ( 1.38 for me in my haste gear ) and you just hit them for 5k damage on each Shaman at lvl 75... at lvl 80 with fully gear it's going to hit upwards of 8k. Ya it's insane.
Shh. We still want them to give us better glyphs and AoE, remember?Quote:

Crits as baseline damage FTW. :DQuote:

Does each shaman need the flameshock up or would just having one up give crits to everyone else. Also after the spell completes it's cast does it take time to fly in the air? (ie is it like lightning bolt or chain lightning?).
Well I may be exaggerating a bit, it's hitting for about 4600. With opponents in resilience crits are mitigated by a lot, with 3-5 Shaman though being able to focus fire a target and drop it like we have been in BC should still be obtainable.

And I believe it has travel time.
Requires each Shaman to have a flame shock on the target, and it does have a travel time.
This sounds interesting!
So in theory, open with Flame Shock, then Lava Burst, and follow up with another shock at the same time Lava Burst lands for even more bursty goodness?Quote:

Given a 2 sec lava burst & 2x 1.5 sec GCD? Yeah, that adds up to 5 sec (i.e. full reverb). However, Lightning Mastery also affects Lava Burst, so you'd have an extra half second in there before Flame Shock is available, even with full reverb.Quote:

Totems only trigger a 1sec GCD, though. Could go Shock, Burst (1.5 GCD, 1.5 sec cast, 1.5 sec GCD --> 4.5 sec), drop a totem, and have Shock back up even with partial reverb.

You know, the thing that makes shocks cool down in five seconds instead of six. Otherwise there'd be 1.5 seconds before he could cast flame shock again.

Butchered? It's the same truncation of the same term in the musical sense, which is what they named the talent after.Quote:

Well, the cooldown on Lava Burst is longer to begin with. The point is more that you get to keep the damage FS would have lost by being consumed. DPS and/or mana efficiency boost.Quote:

Which PvP gloves are you referring to? 40 yards is awesome! My default is to open with Flame Shock. It's usually overkill on a single target, but it gets the job done.Quote:

If you went Flame Shock as an opener, followed up with Lava Burst.. your next shock would be Earth Shock, not another Flame Shock.
You already have the Flame Shock up for your second Lava Burst, and the Dot portion is still ticking away.
Earth Shock will hit harder then the initial hit of another Flame Shock, and since the dot is already ticking you're not losing that.
Flame Shock is base 20 yards, with talents deep into elemental you get another 15, pvp gloves add 5.
The Glyph of Flame Shock is a must for Elemental Shaman.
Shocks also are on a 1 second global cooldown not 1.5, so the entire process is a lot faster than it feels.
What sort of macro have you setup for this?
A cast sequence to flame shock then lava burst? Or two seperate buttons ?
I doubt this works...Quote:

Can you Cast Lava Burst @ max range
While it's in the air cast flameshock.
The debuffs on the target before the lavaburst hits, but does it still force the crit?
Looking forward to seeing some of your Wrath action Ellay.
I just tried this , didn't work :( good thought though, would of been awesome lol.Quote:

Well that's just nifty. :DQuote:

True. But not having to worry about your LB not critting because it had to chase some guy down and meanwhile FS expired...that's more awesome, IMO.Quote:

Shadow bolt then Curse of shadows... Doesnt work!
The damage of the spells is calculated at the point it leaves your char and the same with effects it benefits from.
However if you trow a lavaburst then purge his PW:Shield it works since the damage HE takes is calculated on impact.
Im not the best at explaining anyway! :whistling:
that is so weird - I swear that is how the shatter combo works: cast frostbolt, when finished casting, hit icelance and use the elementals frost nova on them - they are frozen, bolt and icelance hits and "combos" like that.
imo, casting lava burst and then applying the shock while the burst is "in flight" should work the same way. if it doesn't, I'd call bug on the forums tbh!
Is the max range on lava burst 36 yards, with the talents and gear to max it?
Can the DK deathgrip get longer then 30 yards?
This isn't quite the same thing. The target is considered 'frozen' at the time of both the frostbolt and the ice lance cast leave your hands. So both spells get the increases +critical chance. If you cast lava burst before the shock, then the target was not under the effect of the shock at the time you cast the lava burst. So it's not a bug and consistent blizzard mechanics for both situations.Quote:

By the same token, if the frostbolt has left your hands and the frost nova breaks, the FBolt will hit like they are still frozen. Make sense?
Not sure, but Strangulate can be 50 (wtfbbq?) yards with the glyph so don;t count on getting spells off on DKS at max caster range...Quote:

5 sec duration and 2 minute cool down - dosnt seem all that.
From an (elemental) shaman raid point of view, according to Elitist Jerks, certain haste percentages are a dps loss.
As in, your rotation is:
FS - Lava - Chain - LB - LB - LB - Lava - Chain - LB - LB - LB
With certain haste ranges, you actually lose dps and would be better off putting the upgrade gear in the bank until your haste is above the range.
The ranges of haste which hurt the optimal dps rotation are:
18.75-20.20%
25.00-26.45%
37.55-39.00%
43.75-44.90%
It will be a pain to track though, because of all the stacking haste effects.
Wrath of Air Totem, Bloodlust/Heroism, Leatherworker Drums, other classes haste effects etc.
The haste levels cause problems with spell rotations, lowering your DPS. The math behind it is interesting and more complex than it sounds.
The cooldown is how they excuse it, yeah. But that's less than some other "trinket" abilities in PVP (POM-Pyro for one). Still, if they want to give it to me, I'll be sure to put it on rotation sometime for laughs.Quote:
