I have a 70 pally tank and 4 shaman x68, all elemental. I can beat this fool. I get him way down but I can't finish him off. Do I just need to bust out my last two levels or should I be able to do this event at 68?

I rolled him with a pali/shaman team today without having to throw a heal. He isnt that tough, best thing to do is to burn him as fast as possible and ignore the adds on the 3rd phase. Also kill the the when it pops off, dont just let it sit there
1) spread your shamans out a bit. He throws something at a random person and I think it will affect multiple people if they are on top of each other.
2) tank him a bit aways from your shamans, they should never get hit by his whirlwind this way
3) i drop 1 heal stream + 3 mana stream totems (5th is my prot pally)
4) when his head detaches, switch everyone to the head - I leave my pally by the hh but target the head so my shamans auto target it and DPS it down. Its especially important on the last phase since it ends when the head dies. I have enough DPS so he doesn't even spawn his little adds but you can consecrate near him/them so they all hit the pally anyways. I think this is the 3d head detach phase, this is when you want max DPS since you want to get him from 100-0% very fast, the adds spawn after a certain time but you can easily beat it. Just remember to DPS the head, especially the last phase. In the earlier phases if the head detaches and roams far away I just ignore it, and he merges by himself eventually, but on the last phase I follow the head (with everyone if needed) and kill it.
5) as someone mentioned above, he really doesn't hit hard and a decent geared tank should require no heals. I think I end the fight at 90% health without a single heal, all my shamans just DPS (heal totem helps obv, as does prot pally talents). You can toss an occasional lesser heal on the tank, I also have a button to self-heal lesser healing wave, I use it after one person gets "conflaged".
The moment it kicked off I did it with my 5 shaman squad. They have a few pieces of S2 and the rest blues and greens. Had no problem with him at all.
Has this guys loot table been updated or does he drop the same stuff that he did last year?
I have big troubles with my shamans, they go oom :(
Same, I tried about 3 times this morning...I get about 3 phazes in (I think the second head or so) and go oom. I killed first phaze within about 5 seconds with trink/em, killed head pretty fast, but after that mana starts getting sketchy.Quote:

Isnt it possible with mana pots either?
I did this with my 4 shammies (70) with druid tanking, killed him 15 times now losing only 30-40% mana each attempt. Remember mana totems stack now. If you cant cast, 2 rounds of shocks will get the head to the next phase. Just lightning bolt dps, dont bother with chain lightning to conserve mana.
I'm in s2 shoulders and shield, everything else is quest greens/blues from getting to 70. About 490 spell dmg, 7.5k hp, 8.5k mana, 8.5k armour.
So tempting to say 'last night' but that would be extremely inappropriate as that is not the kind of behaviour we wish to see on these wonderful forums.
Either I missed something or what are you on about?Quote:

I never bothered with it last year, my very first attempt at this was last night. First time out of the gate I use all my mana and wiped. At that point I was thinking I'd skip any further attempts and call it quits - lucky I didn't. I attempted him another 5 times and kicked his ass each time. Mana is still an issue if I don't keep any eye on it and act accordingly. The unfortunate thing is, the rings are an upgrade for most of my girls :) I still have 2 more rings to get and ofcause the mount (lol, yeah right).
I went back today after dinging 69 and killed him 5 times :) Old 1 death.
Some classes are much easier than others
on 4 locks (aff) easy at 65 ( life tap and drain for win)
voids (improved for tanking)
tried it on 69 hunters (4) and healer could not recover from aoe effects and pets did not do well on horesmans attack. tried 2 times at 69 on hunters.
Will lvl them to 70 and try again.
Locks are by far much eaiser
any standard 3 dps healer and tank are good if units are 70 or close
:)
I've been killing him easily with my 4 shamans (in pvp blues and honor shield).. Don't reallly have a mana problem.. I use 1 earth elemental each time and just keep him tanked (or 4 fire elementals to burn him quick).. Spam lightning bolt, heal as appropriate and burn the head ASAP. This will force him to go through each phase relatively quickly.. Generally I can kill him before he either summons adds, or they before hatch.
1 pally and 4xshaman
I run with 4 mana totems and never run out of mana. I get to about 50% by the time I kill him.
The key is to keep him away from your dps so you don't have to heal them. What I do is when the head flies off I take a few seconds to hit follow and run a few yards away from him. This makes sure anyone who ate a pumpkin is facing the correct way and i hit my head targeting macro:
/target Head of
Once I'm targeted, i shoot 2 rounds into the head which puts me at 68%, then pop elemental precision and put him down to about 55%. Second round is one round of bolt + avengers shield. Third round i pull him far away from my group, heal everyone up quick, blow him up, then pop trinkets and waste the head for the kill.
One shaman is specd resto for heroic so she only heals and does no dps, the dps stops when I heal since I really don't need to rush him. 5 kills takes about 20 minutes with looting, and with travel time it takes me about 35 minutes to do the whole thing.
I tried to 5 man this with my setup (1dru 4lock) at 66. I ran out of mana on my druid from having to heal the pet so much, and the level difference caused a lot of damage reduction in the form of resists/crit rate.
I went back at 70 with the same setup and was able to down him with no issue at all. My druid only burned about 2k mana each attempt.
My boyfriend and I are looking into attempting this as soon as I get my 4 shammies to 66 so I have their wonderful Earth Elementals. :) Unfortunately, he's a 70 holy priest. Do you guys think it's possible for 1 70 holy priest and 4 lvl 66 shammies to take him down?
I usually get the head to 1% the first time it falls.
I do him each day with 4 shamans. No fifth. No mount yet. :<
I did this 10 times the other day with my 5 shaman team (5pc blue pvp and everything else is quest items). I beat him like 6 out of 10 times. The times I failed one of 2 things happened:
I didn't use an elemental at all
or
The head kept spawning BEHIND everyone which means I had to turn everyone around.
I found the best way to kill him is to use bloodlust at the very beginning, burn him down ASAP, then when he loses his head start burning that down and get ready to drop 1 EE - that way when he comes back the EE will tank him, from there its easy as long as you don't run out of mana. Also if he gets to the pumpkin spawn point it gets fun - just wait for all pumpkins to get near you then 5x thunderstorm, insta-gib :) (I use ele mastery with it also).
Anyway my biggest issue was running out of mana, having a toon turned the wrong way after being "confused", or having to turn my entire group around to DPS the head. Also he got some lucky crits on my main shaman a few times and killed him - if I had a better shield than the starting shield from HFP it would be much easier...trying to get S2 shields for everyone or exalted SSO shields.
Hello everyone:
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but if you get at your max range with your shamans, he will not throw the burning pumpkin heads and you don’t have to worry about getting disorientated.
I have done this fight everyday with my shamans, no mount yet though =(
Hope this helps! =)
When does this end? Tonight at midnight? Or will they extend it through the weekend?
I'd like to get my group to 68 or so and if necessary bring in a warlock to help (voidwalker has 15k hp buffed and holds aggro like a champ)
I'd say its doubtful. Unless you guys are stacking a lot of hit, you're going to resist at lot at 66. Even then, I don't think you have enough DPS.Quote:

bump for the upcoming event :)
Ya im wondering what he will drop this time. I really really want the flying horse =)
The flying horse looks so UBER!! We have one in the guild with it and it is so cool riding on your flying horse to naxx :)
i'm hoping to get my druid team up to 80 before the event, so I can gear one of them up as a tank and tank my Warlock and Shaman teams through to give me 15 tries at the mount every day. Here's hoping *crosses fingers*
My second team is only 71 so after the first day I am letting every trinket, or weapon go to waste :/ I hope to get my team to at least 76-77 by Halloween.
I have never done this before. What is the drop rate for the flying horse? Any chance of getting 5 of them?
I did it last year everyday x4. Never saw 1 mount, but I did get a lot of the rings / brooms. Comparing last year's hallows end and not seeing the mount, to this past Brewfest, seeing 3 kodos and 1 ram, I'd say the drop rate is a lot lower than brewfest. Hopefully they change it and make it higher. But unless you're insanely lucky, 5 seems unlikely.
Oh well, having one would be a priv I suppose! I got one kodo and one ram from brewfest. kodo is awesome looking!
I got the kodo and the ram last night, lol. I will have 2 teams 75+ by Hallow's End!
The droprate on mount was 'extremely' low last year. Did it each day with x5, didn't see any mount. The fact that almost everyone at 80 does this boss, and afaik i only saw 5-15 MAX of these a day in shattrah should tell you that its really low. Ofcourse everyone don't use that flying horse, but back at 70 i guess almost everyone who got one used it atleast during the event.
According to my last check on Wowhead, I believe the drop rate is around 0.3%, and I think the Kodo/Rams were around 1.3% - 1.5%, so it is drastically lower. I would not attempt to get five of them. Most likely pick your favorite toon and go from there.
heh, that's what I do. Anything that's easier to obtain, I do on all five, but for purely achievement purposes, or showing off, Arlassa gets all of the hard-to-find/get items and achievements.
I got my druid team to 77 yesterday. I'm going to get them up to 80 before Hallow's End, and hopefully get my Mages up to 75 before it, too. That'll be 20 summons a day.
Even with that amount of summons, who knows if the mount will drop. And for Brewfest, I ran with a guildy tank and healer to make the fights a bit easier for me, since I didn't have a tank class leveled up. And I just know that if I bring them along for Hallow's End, one of them will end up with the mount, if it does happen to drop.
It's going to be a close call, taking a crash course in bear tanking with purely AH bought tank gear and only a week's worth of time to proactice. And that's only if I decide to not work on the mages.
I'm not terribly optimistic about getting this mount, sadly.
Nobody talks about the plate helm.

That helm was so badass.
dual spec pally tanks!!!!!!
