I'm just pondering the concept that we have no life... so I've got a few questions I'd like answered by a diverse slice of the multiboxing community...

How many active WOW accounts do you own?
Seven.

How many active MMO accounts do you own?
Seven total, none besides WoW.

How many level 70's do you have?
11 now.

How many actually played characters do you have?
11 70's, 4 50ish.

How many teams of characters do those characters comprise?
Three, one five box team mixed class, one five box team shamans, one 4 box team of warlocks, and a 70 raiding warrior.

How many hours a week do you normally play?
20-25

How many hours a week do you normally work?
50How many hours a week do you normally watch TV?
10-15, most of these overlap with the socializing with friends.

All said and done I spend about half my free time in WoW, I find it a great release, something to do that burns time without burning cash like crazy. Other hobbies I'm interested in happen to be much more expensive. I love rocketry and RC cars and planes, but I could easily burn 500 a month on those... with WoW, my hobby takes $100 a month and a larger chunk once a year for expansions...

Do you sleep at all? When do you find time to eat?

There are 24 x 7 = 168 hours in a week

Sleeping 8 hours a day for a total of 56 hours leaves 112 hours

50 hours work + 20 hours play + 20 hours socializing + 10 hours TV is 100 hours

That leaves you with only 12 hours a week to do everything else in life!

Work? That's school aswell? I've got 33 hours of school each week (not counting homeworks, which I consider as a "work" aswell) and .. around 10 hours work.

I am unsure about this one, do you mean, when you can literally see your friend? Or is online communication alright?

If it's that you can see your friends, I'd say about 2 hour average a day.
If it's the second, I'd be .. 40 hours - voip is my friend.

It's pretty simple, I play wow when my friends play and visa versa. It's rare that I play "alone", aka that no one of my real life friends are online.

I'm sorta trying to figure out what else I need to do that doesn't fall into one of those categories... I sleep 6-8 hours a day, mostly 6, not 8. I used to sleep a lot more, but as I've aged I find myself waking up reliably after 6 and before 8 hours.

Other activities... eating for example, that falls into social time most time, go out to eat with friends... lunch at work, oh thats covered by work... breakfast, most often a quick bite eaten on my commute which is included in the 50 hours...

Laundry, do that while gaming or watching TV...

Cleaning house, happens regularly throughout the week, I'd say I never put more than 5 hours into that...

Yard work/lawn work... I pay the boy up the street to mow my lawn, when it's hot I like my AC...

Snow removal... not sure, just moved, but I bet that boy up the street wants money in the winter just like he does in the summer, I'll cross that bridge when it falls on the sidewalk...

So, what else can I do with my time? I go out to movies... oh, thats social... I have parties from time to time...oh wait, more social...

I love wow and play it every day without fail. I have a lot of friends on wow and I find it a great socialising tool in addition to an awesome game. I only sleep about 4-5 hours a night during the week, and 8 hours a night on the weekend. I watch movies and play wow at the same time for effeciency too lol. I have a pretty good life, I'm only just 20, in a full time job for 3 years now, have a lot of friends, have travelled the world, been to uni, briefly fought a bushfire, yea, been pretty good :P

The awesome camping is the best. We once campedon a beach 200km from the nearest town, and had a storm blow over that night lol. All we had set-up were swags underneath a canvas stratched over 6 poles (rectangle chape) with ropes tied off to ground on the sides for support/strength. Was a very fun night :)

Also, one time we went fighing on said beach, but walked out on the sandbar to get further out. Caught a few fish but stayed out a bit too long and had to walk 800m back through upper-calf deep water. Was made more interesting by a reef shark circling around us attracted by the blood from the fish we caught lol.

As a old computer role games player (since Dungeon Master and Pool of Radiance / Gold Box series) I've always find this "hobby" to be relaxing from the normal life. I have one friend who plays wow active and he also boxes, i plan to study for next year and work at the place i was born wich is a empty place with a pop of 5k. Easy to say that NOTHING happens here so i dont feel i miss much by playing wow atm (untill i start studying and move to a city ofc i will most likley freeze wow due to social life and i cant play wow and study) 2 of my friends have played wow semi active and got one 70 each and is pretty netural to boxing. While 3-4 of my last friends is totaly against wow from basic and boxing makes them tear out theyr own eyes in anger.

I have to listen to a constant stream of whine about wow while they always complain about how bored they are, it feels like they want me to be bored like they are all the time. I bought a PC that costed $1500 and they started going on about IMAGION the tv you could get for $1500. (wich in my opinion aint THAT much of a tv) When i confront them about that they have no hobbies and always complain about how boring the week days are they try to counter me with "But you learn nothing from wow and its not social"

One spend just as much time as me watching tv while the other works all the time just to kill his own free time.

Its harderst for my student friends to swallow thought but since i earn about $100k a year with no big outpays 1 or 5 wow accounts wont even be noticed in the big picture.

I've not really burned a lot of cash into WoW. At least I don't feel like it. Maybe it's because I have got things set in my life the way I want it. Do I think I have no life? No, because I can do what I choose to, I live in a free society where the choices made decide how and where I choose to live. All of the decisions in my life have led me exactly to where I am today and it's exactly where I want to be. While it's true that you cannot control the weather or the waves on your boat, you can determine which way you're going to steer your vessel. In other words, life is like a boat on an ocean where you control the direction you're headed. You cannot control some things such as how high the waves are or the storms around you, but you can still go in the direction you want to.

3 ways.

1) Park truck next to river in middle of freaking nowhere and pitch a tent. (I drive past all the people in the "campground" and point and laugh)
2) Load up ATV's with a ton of gear and go get lost for a few days (GPS on board). (I think I've got some pics of my trip two weekends ago?)
3) Load up backpack with too much gear, and hike off in some random direction and get lost for a few days.

All three are viable camping methods IMO. The whole load teh car and take the family to a gridlocked area full of other peoples cars and their tents is just fucking stupid.

I had the privledge of growing up in Jackson, Wyoming... some of the most amazing country I've seen... (Been around the block at least a little, UK, Germany, Iraq, Saudi, Hawaii, coast to coast in the US but not all states yet). Live in Iowa now, not a lot of camping to do here, we have our nice park areas and such, but nothing like what I was spoiled with growing up...

I consider WoW my TV-time - what I do to relax and put a distance to everyday-life. I never understood why people would think multiboxing is expensive - what I spend per month on wow is less than what I spend in one night when going to bars and such. What's the big deal? In fact, WoW is a money-saver for me :-)

I really don't understand all the boxing hate. I have digital cable, well I pay for it because my wife likes it. We have something like 300 channels. Do you know whats on when I get home at 12:30am? Nothing. Which is why MMO's is so appealing for me. On top of that its hard to get groups at my hours of play which is why I boxed. Since the force arena play, double BG grind I felt the game moved in to a anti casual direction and decided to move on to something a bit more less demanding.

Before gaming my love was restoring classic cars and also racing down at the drag. Fast forward, you move out, work 2nd shift and get married. Well you don't have many options at that point do ya XD.

I have no life, my work is my life, I see my fellow residents more than I see my wife. I use world of warcraft to escape from reality, which is very harsh if you see the patients that I see coming into the ER. (one piece of advice, wear a helmet, and if you can help it sell your bike and get a metalic cage around you).

I think its hilarious when people tell me I have no life. I am supporting a wife and daughter, spend plenty of time with them, spend time with family, and overall have way less days /played on all of my characters put together than most people have on a single character. (usually when I hit 70 I get bored and stop playing that character).

Um too many. Oh about 40 maybe, depends on what is going on at work and what not.

Lets see, I put in about 8-10 hours a day x 5 = 40-50 hours, + commute 1.5-2 hours daily dependent on traffic how late I get up in the AM. So Work + Commute = 50-60 hours weekly.

I don’t have a TV. Oh wait I have 2, when you say watch do you mean turn it on and sit in front of it and watch something or just stare at a TV that’s not turned on. For the first oh not much normally nothing to watch on TV anyways, maybe 10 hours max. The second one I try not to do that people think I’m weird as it is.

How many hours a week do you normally socialize/hang out with friends/etc?


My friends live too far so if I am lucky maybe 5-7 on a good week others 0. And for the most part they play WoW or they live on the other side of the states.

Or until blizzard comes up with its new MMO and its better than WoW. 5 Accounts of WoW is cheaper than 1 night at the bar/club, went out the other day and well what I spent on beer and drinks = 1 month of play for my 5 accounts, if I had 1 account that would cover my 6 month subscription easily. So Multiboxing WoW = cheaper than going out for the most part = a happy cheap ass Marious.

Crud edited in Word and bring it over and have all this crap /sigh oh well. You all get my meaning lunch time maybe I fix when I get back.

All available time that I am home is spent with my family while they are awake. WoW time occurs when they are asleep, as long as I am not too tired.

I sleep at most 6 hours a night, usually somewhere between 4-5. I would love to have more time to play WoW, but the demands of my job and family prevent that from occurring. I had gotten into the habit of playing WoW after the night feeding of my baby, but lately I have been too tired to even do that. I will say that R-A-F has been a godsend, as I was able to level characters crazy-fast to 60 and now I can work on grinding a group to 70.

Multiboxing? Whenever I feel up to it -- usually only a couple of hours a day

More recently I've been watching a few episodes on the weekends that are Tivo'd. More commonly I only have the TV on for background noise while grinding/farming.

Outside of work? Maybe once a month I'll go to or host a party. Most of my friends are coworkers so we get our socializing done at lunch breaks and such

As Ellay has noted -- I may seem like I'm on WoW 24/7 but for the most part I'm actually more casual than Suvega. More recently I just do whatever the mood strikes me -- particularly since Wrath is around the corner and I have no major goals to meet before Wrath.

I tend to be an avid reroller and theorycrafter, so much of my "productive" wow time is spent on alts. That being said I've got several other hobbies I try to keep up with -- reading, crafting, knitting, catching up on CSI episodes. It really depends on the week -- sometimes I'll go on a WoW binge after theorycrafting about a certain combination, and when I get bored I go do something else (either a different comp or a totally different hobby). Multiboxing helps keep the game interesting after having leveled so many alts -- with spec and group compositions I can still be creative and find something new in the game.

Oh, and I also love deleting all of my macros and starting over. Masochistic as it is, I love thinking up new macros and layouts. It's a nice challenge for my brain. :)

The greatest benefit to Wow for me is it's such efficient entertainment. For even $75/month that can happily occupy a good 40hours a month, far less than other forms of entertainment cost. I also have a guild with real life friends so we have the chance to meet up outside of WoW, and most importantly, friends (and a loving wife) who have nothing to do with WoW.
