Well, although it works, I spoke a little too soon. The mouse hook cannot be used. If it is turned on, the server war game screen points to the ground. Turning it off will allow keystrokes to work but I've only been playing for about an hour. It also looks like the server war game crashes if Octopus knows about it. Going to do a little more testing. Not exactly sure if it's Octopus or something else doing it yet.
War Hammer Online has an /assist macro capability which is nice. It also has a good /follow capability that I can tell is working. These were things that I didn't quite get from the messages posted here. It appears that casters such as a Zealot and the Magus can be boxxed well on there from my initial testing. How it works out in Realm vs Realm play, not sure yet as I've only got to rank (level) 2.
And no, I'm not giving up World of Warcraft. Just got Warhammer Online to see how it worked out. So far, it does look like it has a lot of game play functionality that WoW has. I can see why there are a lot that say they copied off WoW.
i think a few games have problems with the mouse hook or just mouse hooks in general perhaps. I'm not 100% sure why this is. I've managed to write a KM without using a mouse hook or messing about with filter drivers, but its good to hear the key broadcasting works :D
all in all.. as much as i dislike WoW.. its a much better game to box than WAR is. the WAR client is sluggish and difficult to manage in general. all the class' that are good for boxing (casters, healers) die very, very fast.. and you simply dont have the healing capacity on any healer to keep a group alive unless the only thing attacking you is a zealot. my survivability triples when i add an active healer from my guild to the group. i can soak up a fair bit of AoE damage via my HoT's, group heal, etc.. and with someone actively focus healing there is a massive difference (much like WoW).Quote:

the lack of a detailed in-game macro system, the sluggishness of the client and the extreme squishyness of casters/healers make the game very difficult to box in general. i have encountered some specific places where i did extremely well. Mourkain(sp?) Temple, the T2 scenario, was absolutely golden. it frequently turns into a stack fight, with two groups casting at each other over a small gap and trying to push up. perfect situation for bright wizards. i absolutely dominated that map single handed. move on to Tor Anroc T3 scenario, however.. completely different story. being AoE knocked back into the lava and auto-dying starts to get annoying. witch elves and melees in general will kill you and your alts so fast you might as well go AFK. marauders are horrible to fight, since they can spam their AoE melee style that does (at 26) around 1/5 of my HP. if you spread your characters out to make the damage easier to outheal, you simply get picked off one at a time. you cant really "set up" anywhere, because the front-line of the fight moves forward and back so quickly. turning your group around and backing up when people start dying takes a while.. because of the silly range on /follow (which is at least 10 yards.. average casting range is 80-100 yards).. which, while your main might be clear, leaves your alts within casting range for another 2-3 seconds even if theyre not chasing you. you simply cant heal through any significant damage because your only "big heal" options are a 3 second cast single heal that gets interrupted very easily.. or a morale heal with a 60 second recast. im sure melees will become more managable once all my characters get their knockback.. but at the moment i really have no way to stop them from killing me. and as a boxer, you simply dont have the ability to micromanage your characters and move them around effectively enough to really use CC effectslike roots/knockbacks as effectively as youd think.
all that being said (i tend to focus on the negatives a bit too much, i know) im still having fun. my characters are filling out a bit and the closer towards the T3 level cap i get the easier things become. the difference in gear and being auto-leveled to 28 (which happens when you join a higher-level scenario or PvP area) has a huge effect on how quickly i can kill things. when im 30/31 i will drop targets a lot faster, which will increase my HPS a lot.. since corpses dont kill anyone. im really just hoping at this point that whatever the popular T4 scenario is (there is always one generally accepted scenario for every tier, that everyone joins and has a much faster queue than others) is more like Mourkain than it is like Anroc :P
Jezebel- Just curious how many you box? I am thinking of making 5 bright wizards with a runepriest. I boxed a Black Orc with 2 Shaman till rank 10 with ease. Have you heard anything on whether Mystic allows us to box without fear of being banned?
I 2-box, playing Swordmaster and Rune Priest. Tier 2 Mourkain Temple is definitely fun.
Running a tank with Guard on my Rune Priest, I can stay close in the front lines.
I'm using the Rune Priest more offensively. Bubble + Rune of Might + Moral2 AoE dmg + healing works well with the Swordmaster's aoe melee abilities.
4 at the moment. 1 runepriest 3 bright wizards. if i were going to add two more to fill the group up id add one more runepriest and another bright wiz, 2/4. anything you cant kill with 4 BW's you wont kill with 5. an extra runepriest would give you stacking RuneOfSerenity (great spell) and you could macro serenity/adamant/group heal while your "main" runepriest focus heals and HoT's. it still wouldnt be as good as an active healer, but definately helpful when you dont have one available.Quote:

so far as im aware mythic hasnt made any statements regarding boxing. i can only say that ive been "appealed" several times. ive had no less than 9 CSR's message me or randomly port one of my characters somewhere else and wait for a response. once i respond from that character they say "thank you for responding" and teleport you back without any issues. so, clearly theyre against botting or macroing but they have no issue with active multiclienting.
another issue i didnt mention is the fact that, while collision detection is only supposed to come into effect with enemy players, your characters will frequently "bump" into each other and not stack properly. its even more annoying when people are dying and you need to back up a bit with your group.. you turn and try to move back only to run into a "wall" of bright wizards that wont let you pass. im hoping this is a bug, because mythic have stated CD should only effect enemies.
I thought I would miss multiboxing with Warhammer but it's not turning out to be the case.
It helps that my guild uses a vent server so we are pretty coordinated in doing PQ's and RvR so it allows me to play one class and play it well. I've never had so much fun and challenge playing a healer as I do now. I love my Zealot.

ive played a solo healer. its great in a group. mythic completely failed to live up to its pre-launch promises that healers would be more than healbots, though. you may do well with a healer at low levels.. but in T3/T4 your heals (and some debuffs/CC) are all you have to bring to the table. healer DPS is a joke. even if you spec entirely in damage tactics and intelligence/SD gear (which completely wrecks your healing) you wont come anywhere near any of the non-healer/tank class'. even engineers outdamage us by a long margin.Quote:

Just the other day I saw a multiboxer with 3 bright wizards in TA. I could tell it was a multiboxer right away because I'm a boxer myself in WoW. So I tried to knock them into the lava as much as possible. The boxer did cause a little trouble but we won and I am full-time sword-and-board tank maybe that helped.
I have two accounts myself but as early as T1 I realise boxing probably isn't worth it because there is so much stuff going on in a battle I do not think I can manage boxing as easily as in WoW.
About the CD 'bug', it is -probably- not a bug. Maybe Mythic is trying to make the game like a FPS for realism so you have to avoid being in the way of your teammates.
I suppose you can still two shot people in WAR but it will be harder than in WoW. The major difference between WoW and WAR I think is that sword-and-board tanks are very good in PvP. Tanks have ways to protect squishies, and squishies are really squishy they need tanks to protect them. I play a Black Orc and skills like 'hold the line', 'quit yer squabblin'' etc can boost your teammates defense. At level 30+ we get an AoE root and if we spec for tanking we can have a rank 4 morale ability that gives your teammates 200 AP and a shield that absorbs 1500 damage (I presume it's kinda like a mass bubble that scales with level). At the moment there is basically no reward for tanking, most tanks just use a 2h when a few of the tanking abilities require a shield. But if Mythic changes things a bit in the future with regards to renown and more tanks are really tanking with a shield it can make things difficult for caster-based multiboxers. Also tanks have an ability that gets them out of snares, so Mythic has basically given tanks a free WoW trinket, and as you level you can train in a passive skill that decreases the CD.
On the bright side, there is no more TA in Tier 4, the only scenario that pops is Serpent's Passage really.
I would like to dual box Warhammer online too. I just want to grind PVE stuff with the 2 chars. ATM I have a 18 Rune Priest and it's a pain in the ass to solo PVE with that class. But I love that class in PvP.
So what would be the best class to duo with my RP ? A Bright Wizzard for pure DPS maybe ?
And how can I manage to dual box on 1 computer ?
