Finally Canceled WOW accounts

So i canceled my 4 boxing accounts and had my main open for another 2 weeks in which I raided BT as usual but found this boring to say the least and today canceled that as well. I have my warhammer account and will play on that from time to time but never will I play it like i did wow. I Know many are close or ahead of me on played but I look back on wow with a frown by now. Add all my toons played time up and its almost a year +/- in the last 5 on wow. Shame to have wasted so much time on a video game and not on

traveling
gaining more worldly knowledge
laughing
Being AFK...

That being said WAR is the way to go its very casual and i jump on for a couple hours a week tops and poke around ....Good luck to all and happy and safe hunting.

Personally, if I wasn't wasting my time playing WoW I'd have spent a lot more money on a home theatre setup, probably a heap more spent on petrol, would be bored a lot more, and would generally get out about as much as I do now. :P

I play wow purely for entertainment purposes. Just like I play an instrument for entertainment purposes etc. As I like to say, (and this applies for money as well) its not wasted if you enjoy what you spent it on :)

I never mind hearing that someone else is graduating to real life. Well not entirely, but still.
I preferred CoH's gameplay (wussup character creation) and community by far, but can't multibox it with a software solution so screw it. I play WoW now.
Someday when you find yourself using two flashlights in the dark, or walking 5 dogs on 4 leashes, I'm sure you'll remember us fondly.

I play lots of wow, pretty much every day. When I get home from work the first thing I do is launch keyclone and press connect, then I go make dinner, sit down with the wife and watch tv for about 45 minutes.

After that I get on the computer (which is in the same room as the TV.) I will usually play for 3-4 hours then spend and hour or so watching more TV cuddling up to my wife on the couch.

Since the computer is in the living room I get to speak with my wife while I play (so she doesn’t get upset.)

I would rather be on the computer than watch television.

A lot of people complain that us gamers spend waaaay to much time on the computer but its no more time than they spend watching television.

Weekends are my break times, I usually don’t get to spend any time on the computer Sat/Sun. Last weekend was an exception and it was awesome!

Hopefully you'll do exactly as you've described and partake in the things you've been neglecting over the last how-ever-long. Personally, my time hasn't been wasted simply because gaming is one of my hobbies and a source of my entertainment. I long ago came to the conclusion that I'm a gamer through and through, and I'll be playing something till either my Social Security won't allow me to or I'm physically unable.

Multiboxing allows a lot of us to game and participate in most of the things you've listed. In no way shape or form do I feel I have neglected anything. I'm truly sorry you feel you have.

I make time for video games by not watching TV. One year spent playing WoW in 5 years is less time than I used to watch TV.

So much truth!

I watch some TV, but only since I got my DVR setup and can do it on my schedule. WoW is something I can simply step into and play on my schedule as well, especially now that I'm done raiding.

Friends and coworkers that I talk to about what we did this weekend all vary ont he same themes....

Yardwork... I do this, I don't do a lot, I don't want a complicated high maintainance yard.
Housework... again, I do this, house is clean and tidy with the exception of my computer desk which is clean and cluttered :).
Watch TV... Mostly while I WoW, though the Fiance and I have time to watch our favorites once or twice a week.
Watch Sports, either live or on TV, this i have zero interest in. I once met Brett Farve and that conversation ended with "I'm sorry sir, I don't follow hockey." He didn't think it was as funny as I did.
Drink Beer... Used to do this as a hobby, makes half your time off suck (hangovers) and the other half more expensive than all the rest.
Chase women... Used to do this as a hobby, makes half your time off suck (breakups) and the other half more expensive than all the rest. Of course, I gave up on chasing them, and then ended up with the one I'm gonna marry... which is just fucking ironic.
Etc...

There are LOTS of ways to spend your time. Don't spend time regretting whats past, you can't change it. Learn from it and drive on.

Hell, from running a guild/raiding guild in wow I've learned a LOT about being a manager in the real world... same principles apply either side of that coin.

This is very true I havent watched tv besides a sporting event in 3 1/2 year.....im sure due to playing wow thats for sure. I am not saying i havent done things in life which I defintly have just saying its time to hang it up. WAR is alot more easy on the time commitment and good fun.

Why do you have to not be playing games to do those things? Even 1/5 of your time on WoW doesn't necessarily seem excessive at all if it was your only form of entertainment. I play WoW as much as that, and my life is in great shape. Entertainment is a huge part of living, and if gaming isn't your thing, that's cool, but don't pretend like it's just this big waste of time. Learning a language or instrument just for the sake of saying you did something with your time sounds like a much bigger waste. Do it because it's fun or useful, not because it sounds good.

I agree wtih everything states...I really found out that im not a gamer though took a while. Actually i speak 2 languages and good at the guitar too. Furthermore ive traveled pretty much to every continent besides south america by now ( I will head there soon) That being said I guess my point is that I really lvoed the game and yes it was 85% of the time my source of entertainment. (Ie never played any other games, no tv etc)

All I am saying is that i final grew out of this phase and appreciate it for that but time to leave it in the past. To the rest of you enjoy the game it really is great and happy hunting. As for me off to the RL, I doubt I will even play warhammer too much either.

I quit WOW over the summer in an attempt to flourish more in RL. I ended up buying an XBOX, xbox live membership, xbox live points, several video games - spent WAY more $$ than I do buying 4 battlechests and the monthly costs of five accounts, and still played Call of Duty 4 over the high speed internet. Only instead of experiencing a "community" (even as dead as the horde community is on Elune-US) I was called racial slurs by 9 year olds.

I suck though. I'm sure you'll totally learn Catalan and become an accomplished flautist !

Sadly outside the MMO world my options of enjoying other things are limited due to working night shift. Everything is closed. Prior to MMO's I lived at home (parents) and enjoyed restoring classic cars and racing. After moving out I learned in a hurry I can no longer enjoy things like that and turned to TV recordings and Movies. Shortly after becoming bored I called my friend who moved out on his own a few months prior, I ask "Man what the hell do you do working nights for fun?".

He said well don't spend you pay check in the bar like I did! I play MMO's. That’s when it all started in 2003. Since them I’ve been playing ever since. Last year take a break from games completely; I lasted 4 months without playing any games. That’s when I found interesting shows like Dexter, Heroes, and Lost. I had plenty of catching up to do. After four months I got caught up to the current episodes and the writers’ strike also caught up with me. So I ended up coming back to gaming and shortly after returned to WOW.

I'm on the fence right now on if I’m going to continue with WOW. I was having a blast until some of the recent changes in beta have been made. Waiting to see and official news and/or what happens live to determine if WOW has moved in a direction that’s just not for me. I am interested in WAR and with the status in limbo I do plan to check it out and see where it goes.

If I’m not happy with it, I may roll PVE on EQ2 and experience all that content. I love the PVE and will only roll on a PVE server after experience the PVP there. But that would be interesting and fun for a while to see some new things at least. By then perhaps Blizzard may make some adjustments more to something that’s more my style like WOW in its current state and I could come back to it. Also currently I have 2 good friends that I’ve played most MMO’s with currently playing there (EQ2), both of which still play during my times so that would be awesome. They raid my hours as well so I could experience most if not all content offered which is appealing.

Also since I’m looking in to PVE games it opens the doors for many other options I’ve never tried before as well. Hopefully between it all I have plenty of content to keep me busy until something meets my expectations and/or I get a new shift or job.

Life comes at you fast.

Change is part of life.

Live each day by living it as the only day you have.

You will never regret that day.

We each have a set amount of time.

How we spend that time develops and molds our lives and the lives of the others we contact in that time.

No time is ever wasted it is just spent.

I play WoW everyday, more than 4 hours/day, even more that I started Multiboxing less than 25 days ago. For me is easy as I work at home, self employed. So I have more free time than anything, even with tons of projects.

As others have said, don't be angry with WoW as its not your problem. If you cannot manage your time then it doesn't matter what your doing your always going to feel like this.

My guess is that you will fill your new found time with other activities that you will not enjoy as much as you did your time in Wow and as others have found, probably spend more money on whatever this is.

Enjoy filling your new found time with new pointless and less entertaining activities. I am truly sad for you.

That writers strike killed everything I loved! /melodramatic :P but seriously I haven't watched tv in ages cause all my fav shows either got canceled/ran out of episodes and I cbf with it now. I'll prolly catch up later on at some stage though.

Wasted time - imho - is time you spend on doing something you don't want/like to do, it's that simple.
