I have a 70 lock to boost my team of two and it's going along at a 3-4 level pace per hour up to level 20. (I'm leveling four teams of two) Although this is quite fast compared to normal questing, I'm wondering if questing would be even faster... and a lot less boring. Anyone have any experiences to comment on this?
The beginning is quite slow compared to later. I use a 70 to boost all my RAF accounts. Once you hit 20 head to SM Cath and boost in there... great XP, then when you hit 35 head to ZF. as a level 35 you get like 75~80k xp average at first then as you near 43-44 with 2 70s running is for my 2 toons I was upwards of 130k xp and hour. When you hit 45, if you can, head up to Lbrs, with just a 70 hunter running it I was at 170k xp an hour, didnt have a healer so it went a lil slow. All my toons hit 60 in less then 2 days played. There are better and faster ways im sure, these are just my ways. At 50, goto WPL and do the cauldron quest and Araj line... get like 4 levels in less then an hour.
Boosting is by far faster but more boring to say the least.
Also with boosting you really don't get a good feel for your team(s) as you would just questing...
My best suggestion would be to do both.
How far could my lock who is in T5/S2 run these toons through by himself? Level 40? Level 50? I have a crap geared resto druid at my disposal also, but I'd prefer to just run three WoWs on my computer
My pally isnt greatly geared so I have issues when it comes to boosting past SM. So far I've been doing the following:
- 1-10: Quest
- 10-16: Deadmines
- 16-23: Stockades (I stayed until 22 so I could complete the quest given just outside stockades which got me to 23)
- 23-40: SM Armory/Cath (Armory-Cath-Reset-Cath-Armory-Reset & repeat)
- 40-45: STV Quests
- 45-49: Tanaris Quests + 1 ZF run to complete quests
- 49-52: Searing Gorge Quests
- 52-54: Burning Steppes
- 54-56: BRD (Only did the beginning part to complete the earlier quests)
- 56-60: WPL+EPL+half Scholo run.
Would've been nice to just boost to 60 tho :S

On my 43 druids (2 of them) I was getting 518xp a kill in ZF with 1 70. Added a 2nd 70 and it went down to 318xp a kill but the killing rate was much quicker.
At like lvl 43~ with one 70 I was gettin 125-126 and with 2 70's it was 130+. It was a hunter and a fury war, so it was quite fast grinding. The 2nd does put quite the damper on granted XP, but if both can clear at a faster rate, then I have em do it. I use titan to judge the XP/hr and plan accordingly. I have a spreadsheet made with whichinstances and 1/2 70s and whether i use the hunter/war/enh sham/feral druid. Leveled quite a few toons so I decided to make it up. I can clean it up a bit and post it if you would all like.
Ok so is it at all possible to boost when I have 5 Shamans? What happens if I turn it into a raid and have the 70 be on the other party? Will that kill my xp?
The Xp would drop an insane amount if you turn it into a raid. Some instances wont let raids in... a lot of them, and you cannot get Quest items in a raid most of the time, and you wont get kill credit with a raid for kill quest.
Hmmm, So I should kick one of my shamans out, Boost up to 59, the use my RaF to bring the shaman back up to the lvls.
If you are boosting then sure boost your 2 guys than grant levels, but if your questing then you will not get the bonus RAF XP from having your other guy in the team. Like in the 40's you want to hit Thorium point great XP and easy quest, I went from like 44-49 in no time at that place it was great, and I was only running a trio not 5.
I saw an alliance quest guidline for good places to quest at a certain level. Is there a horde version?

I've got a 1-59 quest outline on my blog. It's certainly not streamlined by any means but it might give you a few idea's if you get stuck at a given level range.

With RAF you get insane XP numbers for quests 10k per quest avarage, with as high as 24k for some brown quest around level 35 (wich efectevly put me through half a level. - so maybe combine bosting with questing, kill quests + escort quests are the best obviously. Per kill in SM i was geting around 450-500 i was 37x4Quote:

What I did, as 3x horde RAF linked accounts and a 70 protection paladin to boost:
Levels 1-10: Quested, was level 10 before I was finished with level 6 quests.
10-20: SFK, at level 18 got the three SFK quests and completed those, turned them in just in time to ding 20.
20-43: SM Armory and Cathedral, got and completed the SM quest at level 30 and turned it in at 43.
43-51: Zul'Farrak, turned in quests at 51 to get a bit into 52.
52: BRD pre-req quests (gathering elemental stuff near Flame Crest, killing Overmaster Pyron, the first "Kill on Sight" quest, Commander Gorshak and follow-ups that lead to assignment to kill the Emp" - This was enough to get to 55.
55 (needed 55 for the Molten Core attunement quest): A full BRD clear, completing all quests. This got me to 58.
58: The easier Stratholme quests (Archivist, Plagued Flesh, Scourge Data, Fras Siabi). This got me to nearly 60.
Remaining XP from 59-60: The 30-item turn ins for Marks of Crusade and Marks of Dawn at LHC. I had collected all of these doing BRD and Stratholme.
I had 3 characters being boosted, so nearly always had room for 1 in the group. Dinged 60 in 1 day 7 hrs played - I think I could do better doing it a second time, spent at least a couple of hours setting up my macros and keyclones, as the leveling characters just stood in xp range until Stratholme.
As a little note, one of the characters I was leveling is a warlock. She hadn't done any of her pet quests, except for the imp. I went and did a couple at level 60 and got full XP as if it were a level 60 quest. One should consider that if leveling a team of warlocks with RAF & boosting.
For reference, I've both boosted and leveled regularly with RAF to 60:
Leveling 5 at once: 0-60 in 2 days, 4 hours /played
Boosting 4 toons with a 70: 0-60 in 16 hours, 2 minutes /played
Details of my boosting:
1-15: Boosted other 4 with my 70 hunter for run speed boost (questing)
16-20: Stockades boosting with my 70 pally
20-45: SM Cath with my 70 pally (tried ZF, Temple, SM was still way faster from 40-45)
45-59.98: Strat undead side with my 70 pally
59.98 - 60.98: granted one level from 2 of my 4 boostees (after dinging them 60 seperately) to the other two
The boosted toons are still at 60 with no skills trained past level 10, no mounts, and no riding skill.
I think I messed up then. I have a 70 pally on my main account. Made a RAF account and trying it out at the moment. But I shoulda done 2 RAF accounts and not put any of the low toons on my main account. But don't want to pay 80 for upgrading 2 accounts then 45 per month to do 3 accounts but that's the only way huh? No way I can use my pally to run them thru instances like u guys. Do u just xfer the toons to your main account once they're finished then deactivate the other accounts when finished?
i am 5boxing shamans (lvl 35) getting ~460xp per elite kill in there (SM Cathedral).. killing is slow as i wait for mana/drink every 2nd or 3rd pull.
i tried boosting four of my shaman in there with my 70 fury warrior (decently geared, tears thru the place) and the linked accounts with that guy still get ~460xp per kill, but two of the others don't get it and they get about ~120xp per kill.
i can go thru Sm cathedral in 10 minutes compared to 45 minutes... the XP gain is crazy with boosting, but two guys are falling behind (1 lvl only atm)
Personally i'm deciding what i ultimately want to do, use RAF/boosting to gift levels so i have all classes at lvl 60 on my main account, or just keep the 5 boxing shaman thing going. i haven't decided yet. should i boost with two guys falling behind and then wory about them once my other two get to 60? decisions, decisions...
I think most of the people using RAF to boost have the intention of playing multiple accounts at the same time. I know I do - so no, I do not intend to transfer my toons back to a single account once they're level 70.Quote:

A protection paladin just happens to be the character that I made and played by herself for a long while. When RAF was released, and with the knowledge that I could pull 'the whole instance' it just seemed like a fun experiment to see if I could multibox effectively. So far so good!
I've been boosting 2 rogues with a feral druid using the above suggestions. So far I am at 45 with 12 hours played.
1-10 2 hours (questing)
10-20 SFK 3 hours
20-40 SM Cath 5 hours
40-45 ZF 2 hours
I hope to be lvl 60 by tonight.
I'm ze dualboxing virgin, have done it only for a while, but when it comes to leveling, I think I've found a shortcut. (if this is a repost, then nvm me)
My main is a mage with lots of t6+ and equivalent gear, so I wanted just to boost one toon on my RAF account to 60 for some more farming and fun. My first idea was to level a toon for another account just for mining, so whenever I'll be raiding, I could have RAF account online, parked next to rich ada deposit somewhere..
So I boosted my RAF toon just by dualboxing all the quests, and when he reached 45, I went to Scholomance since I can clear the place quite fast (though skipping magic immune skeletons by jumping down the bridge and opening the door and entering with invisibility, then summoning RAF toon in)
Since my mage is 70 naturally, there were no RAF bonus XP at all, but.. I killed Ras Frostwhisper, and RAF toon got insane XP from that, over 1,5k xp anyway. And this was because Ras is lvl 62 (so my main would had got XP from killing it, if he were not level capped already)
Then I had an idea, I used to farm a lot @ Bash'Ir Landing / Blade's Edge Mountains, I flew there with my main, and now I needed to find good spot for my RAF toon, so he wouldn't aggro because his low lvl. As we all know, there are lots of "spikes" around BEM, so I landed on one (which was far away from the ground), and started summoning my RAF toon.
I made it from 48 to 60 roughly in one day, here are the XP what my RAF toon got:
raf| 70| 71| 72|axp|m2k (axp = Average XP lvls 70 71 72) (m2k = Mobs to Kill / level)
55|744|762|777|761|195
56|759|774|792|775|199
57|774|789|807|790|203

So for example when my RAF toon was 57, he got 807xp when my main killed lvl 72 arcanist mob down there. On those levels, only around 200 mobs need to be killed for each level.
So the boosting was kinda free, since I would had farmed a lots of those Prison keys and netherweave cloths anyway. Dualboxing now the quests in Outlands ^^

God I love sfk. I do the whole thing in 5 pulls, leave tne followers at the gate right by the entrance and pull to range. Takes 9 minutes every time, 1 drink per instance with a heroic geared pally. 10-22 took 90 minutes with 4 followers. Damnit this is what leveling should always have been like. Let's hope SM Cath is as friendly as SFK was, i'd hate to have to actually pay attention ;)Quote:

I'm on my second group now, left the first at 42 for the moment. I'm boosting with a prot pally, heroic geared only.
With regards to SM, the library is AWFUL. I had to run through there to get the sm key for the pally and the aggro reset was beyond evil. The mobs in the library randomly de-aggrod and ran back to their spots. Useless instance for boosting.
Cathedral is great. I pull the entire tunnel & the whole area around the fountain, kill them. Then I pull the higher fountain level including the mobs at the locked door. My third pull involves running up to the captain inside the cathedral, smacking him and killing the rest of the mobs :) I kite all the 3 pulls to the doorway out of the tunnel. This allows me to simply walk the followers inside the instance and not move an inch after. Plus by running the in-cathedral pull all the way to the corridor, I don't get the irritating end instance healer boss who is a pointless kill and adds 2 minutes onto the fight. If I cast the mana draining doobery on my weapon I can literally go for a nap although I've started singing limmerics about the Abbots.
As a note for everybody, if your leechers aggro the first mob in an instance (because they are too low a level), DO NOT KITE IT OFF. If you do, your leechers will end up getting killed once you've kited the mob which aggrod out of range of its spot. Took me quite a while to work this out. Always kill the first mob in an instance if it aggros on the leechers before you pull.
