@ warlock groups

So I'm 65 with my 4 warlocks and was looking to speak with someone else regarding warlocks. Basically, I'm wodering what level 70 is going to be like. I'll be honest, I mainly leveled the locks for 4 X Seed of Corruption in AV. (Well, not entirely, I love the class, but that's what I'm most excited about. I have very little interest in PvE, but will do any and all things PvP.



What I've found is that, espeeeecially with 4 felguards, I'm a monster. I've been easily soloing most 70s (except hunters) since level 60. The other day I completely wiped a group of people waiting to do Mana Tombs and didn't lose a single character.



I'm wondering if Destro is going to be worthwhile at 70? I realize that my gear won't be great for it, but when you take into account the fact that I'll have 4 characters, it seems like it may be worthwhile. I leveled to 50 as destro and really enjoyed one-shotting everything. Since 50 I've enjoyed dots and my felguards, but I'll probably switch it up to see what the other side of the fence is like.



Finally, my last question is: Have you ever snuck up on someone and fired off 4 Soul Fires? It's just glorious.

I've litterally tried every spec that's worth trying.... but you have a new talent tree coming out with wrath, so I would hesitate to give you advice. I know that Most fun i had with my lock was a hybrid spec afflic / destruction. 32/0/29. (Dark Pact / Nether Protection... the modified SM/Ruin spec). I did the 10-70 grind afflic. Some will say SL/SL is great for PvP, but this wasnt my favorite. I think it's all about play style. I would totally get into a gazillion dots and 4 drains. Shawdow burn X4 could end someone pretty quick i would suppose... fear on round robin and nuking sounds fun too. I've started five locks on mag. But I'm testing the leaderless system with them so they're still at lvl 4. All-in-All, I've wiki'd specs... took the advice of my kids... copied specs from people... listened to the kids that would use a graphing calculator to play the game and mention the word "co-effecient" (my eyes glaze when i start hearing this) ... and in the end, went with what spec gave me the most enjoyment. So there's my two cents. Have fun.

Destro is nice because its usually big crits if you can stack a bunch of spell crit. The downside for PvP is you won't always be able to stand and cast. For PvP multiboxing I don't think SL/SL would be the way to go. SL/SL is mostly about survivability and I think you'd be better off doing http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IZ0gczIiz0estEx0zM 0 / 43 / 18, Mainly demonolgy for felguard and buffs to pet and your shadow dmg. Then you have points in destruction for Shadowburn + shadow bolt buffs. You could use Shadowburn as a pretty hard hitting nuke, the only issue is it burns a soul shard, so you'd want to carry plenty. This spec would let you send your felguards after a target and stand back and shadowburn / shadow bolt spam.

Warlock BG pvp spec I always go for build with at least 11 points in destruction, just for the shadowburn ability.

four/five times felguard with soul link sounds pretty nice... will certainly help with rogues cloak of shadow :)

I've had most success when single boxing with a full affliction build, it's the style I'm most comfortable with.

In pvp I tended to run a cast sequence that put siphon life on first followed by curse of choice, plus instant corruption. Unstable affliction if had time.

I'm imagining a full set of dots x 4/5 - with healing ticking away. Shadow burn x 4/5 will eat a load of health and if it kills them or they die within 5 seconds of application returns the soulshard.

Even deathcoil would be a nice bit of burst damage if you ignore the horror effect

Instant howl of terror is going to be wonderful too on a round robin basis.

Felhunters spell locking and dispelling magic on casters or just having oodles of mana with your little dark pacted imp as a mana battery (phase shifted and on passive).

searing pain as the most spammable spell would thow out a fair chunk of damage too when multiplied by 4/5

Oh - and not to mention nightfall procs (although wondering how you would manage throwing them out from the right warlock when it happens).

Then of course there is multiple drain lifes going on, healing you and damaging them.

I think I would swap out a warlock for a shadow priest. Drain life combined with mind flay with it's slowing component. Mana back and healing, plus the priest being able to swap to healing in an emergency.

hmmmm - looks like I've decided what my second horde RAF team might be :)

Currently running a warlock 2 shadow priest crew. Leveling as full afliction, although i might try a demo build at 55 when i get insta corruption. I have a 70 lock also, and leveled full afliction, then swapped to sl/sl at 70. Felguard spec with shadow burn for pvp with your crew would most likely be your best bet, has to be close to max burst for a lock, and thats what you want. If your going to use regular corruption then you'll want 5 there, otherwise I'd say a demo/destro hybrid. Biggest issue with this is only 1 insta dot, but you'll be using mostly nukes so thats a minor inconvenience. Your fear utility goes down also, as there is no insta howl, but in my opinion thats to far to go into afflic anyways, multi box crews should be looking for burst in pvp, not efficiency.

"Necrosis" is a great mod for this since it will give you a visual and audio heads up. But, I'd guess you'd have to write your macro to stopcast.... then you'd be casting with all your locks. Unless somebody has a macro that can check for nightfall, not sure how this would work out either.

Maybe it would be possible to hook the nightfall event when it procs? SCT "knows" when these things happen...maybe the event could be hooked and then whispered to the main? I don't know enough about coding the blizz UI to know if you could do anything more significant than that. It would be awesome if you could pop a message in your mains SCT....warlock2 procs nightfall...then just hit the macro that corresponds.

For the current patch, go UA for BG farming and destro for arena. Lots of single-target DPS. Dots simply wont work for Arena, gets outhealed and you end up dead before ending your DoT sequence.
The stun on hellfire is great versus rogues, and Nether Protection procs a lot. It even makes you immume against fear.

Besides, 15k+ non-crit burst damage with immolate + conflagrate + shadowburn will kill most targets easily in a short amount of time.

in my current pvp experience. very limited but growing. i am level 62 and box pvp with 3 shammy. when i get dotted up all the way even through UA by a 69 lock i can easily heal through it with only one shammy and lesser healing wave. All three of my guys fought one 70 S2/S3 lock in HFP for the daily pvp and i got full dotted again (but not UA) and it was easy to heal through that as well. I like locks so it was almost depressing how easy it was to heal through. But then again i do have over 400 spell damage/healing on my gear now so that helps. But it will only grow as i level.

Destro seems like i can pack a really nasty burst punch and with wotlk it will get some nice survivability buffs within the tree itself and also from being able to get soul-link.

If i level a lock group i will be trying out destro for sure.

I have single box played 3 warlocks 2 to 60 pre tbc (horde pvp) and 1 to 70 (alliance pve).

Personally shadow burn is pretty overrated unless you are spec'd glass cannon. (Destruction) For which you need good gear, and you'll die lots. Destruction with out good gear is funny cos you die quickly and hit soft.

I enjoyed Felguard and it was moderately survivable, probably the only spec that can survive a rogue with out blowing all your cooldowns.

But for bg survivability, deep affliction is over powered.
Dark Pact, sl, instant howl... with frozen shadow weave (all dots heal)

coa,sl,corruption *next target* whenever nightfall is up instant bolt. Its not massive burst dps, and singly I was not burning people down with that tactic but I could hold a tower by myself (running in circles, tab dot dot dot dp tab dot dot dot dp) randomly insta howling until support rezzed and ran back. But they'll be oom eventually and you'll still be running fine.
Singly dot em up and then bolt like crazy.

I'm really not sure what direction I'm going to go in. The more I think about it, the more I realize changing specs will probably mean losing the Felguards... and they're my bestest friends EVER!

Also, in a somewhat unrelated matter... today, at level 66, I soloed Durn the Hungerer. I just enslaved 3 elite legionnaires from norther Nagrand and went to town on him. It was almost sad how easily I beat him.

Then my legionnaires broke enslavement, killed one of my characters, and went for a walk. I haven't seen them since. :(
