Multiboxer loot etiquette?

How do you handle loot when you group with your multiboxed toons?

Fairness would say Ishould get four rolls for the one that the 5th person has, but usually I just leave it on FFA for the quest and let the other person take the stuff, in instances I turn pass on loot on all my toons but one, giving me an even chance at the junk greens with the fifth person. Is this being excessively nice? (I worry about being nice since we get so much random hate, I want to make any interaction with me a positive one that will make multiboxers look better not worse).

What do you guys do?

I thought multiboxing meant never having to roll :)

When I make up half of Kara for badge farming, I leave loot on FFA and tell the group to loot everything that isn't binding on pickup.
I don't compete for any greens, cloth, greys and whatnot. I just don't want to bother looting the corpses, miss any or hit any roll buttons.
For anything extraordinary, say, world drops, recipes whatnot, all players roll, that means I roll - once - as does everyone else

The way I figure it, I get a lot of badges, trash money and boss money loot. =]

I take a strategy somewhere between Steph and Fursphere, depending on who the other members are...

I also take a middle ground on rolls. Usually I will leave the rolls at FFA because I don't feel like going through all the screens and clicking corpses. I will usually pick up all the DE purples and split the void crystals between enchanters in kara, which is usually 90% of the loot from there, and ignore all the other green, grey, cloth and such.

Out of courtesy, since I am only 1 person, I usually only roll once for items if its BOE epic. The blues are usually ignored.

considering that the few raid guilds that take boxers with them. provide dkp point to pr char
i do not see any reason to have 1 roll in a 10 mans raid or one roll in a instance or world drop situation
unless its a friend or someone you wanna be nice with. after all like someone allready stated above
we pay extra for more characters, why should we limit our self when it comes to looting
ofc grouploot wtih 3+ char is not a pleasent way to spend the time
so i make it simple if i bring a pug along. tell him to loot and divide up the loot and give me half when the instanse is over
or his bags filled. if he is honest and follow up when the instance is cleared i know i can take him into instances again later on
if he /heartstones out of the place without following up /ignore and all i lost is a bite of gold that is easy enough to get as a boxer anyway
provided that you got enchanting on one char, disenchant stuff sell on ah :) made lots of gold that way

i do enjoy to solo instances, but everynow and then its enjoyable to have a party chat and a enjoyable chat with someone

My team is convinced that Boylcee hacks his /rolls. Boylbee isn't interested in much loot, thinking it's all hunter loot.

When we did Karazhan a few times, my team got into a huge fight over loot in the /raid channel and really made the guild laugh. (Boylbee left the guild in a huff and was threatening to hearth out when Boyldee finally talked sense into him, IIRC).

At first I agreed with this statement but one of my guild mates made a remark one day about me getting multiple loot rolls. (My guild is filled with nothing but coworkers). It wasn't a snide remark or mean or anything like that, but more of a comment made in passing, but I heard it and took it to heart. Ever since then I just leave looting on FFA or group loot, pass on all my toons except for my main, and let the other guys have whatever drops. I do this even when I'm with someone I don't know; I let that guy have everything that drops....to the point where his bags get full and he has to begin passing on everything.

Personally, I think it's wrong for me to roll multiple times even thou I need to gear my guys too, but I know I can come back to an instance later on and get every damn thing that drops.

I agree with Fur if you are 4/5 of the group than you get 4/5 of the loot.

Granted I do not group much why run 4 when I can run 5 unless one of my brothers is the 5th I box alone 99% of the time. When I feel like grouping or raiding I have a character specifically for that. I enjoy the challenge of MB'ing but most of all the freedom, I know my wife prefers it she knows she can easily drag me away from the computer at any time.

Naw....it's not that. I don't feel guilty about multiboxing. Not at all. I just try to be fair in sharing the loot. Since I play mostly with coworkers I don't mind taking a backseat while letting them have the drops. Once again, I know I can come back later and pick up any and everything I want.

Well i box 5 shamans so i never have to worry about rolls. My highest group on PVP server is 62 (ive kinda stopped playing these). My new group on PVE server is 42 and farming cath for 2 more shields and a couple hats.

I doubt I would ever raid with them, I have another toon I raid with. But the usual idea is one human = 1 roll reguardless of accounts.

Typically I ask the others if any others are involved; I don't care about much loot that I won't wear; when we did a 15shaman MC with a bunch of pugs on Feathermoon and the shaman gaunts dropped, it was an upgrade for Awbee and I both...we rolled with all 5 each lol, I won the gaunts, he got the chest. When I was 2boxing and went into DM with others I just passed to not deal with looting unless I'd wear it. It depends on who I'm grouped with pretty much otherwise...again, if it's an upgrade, each one who wears it is gonna roll most likely.

I just let my main toon get all the loot and pass it out to my clones as I see fit........
PuGs...? That's why I 5 box, I don't fight about loot.

When I put a 5th in, they roll once, I roll once, for each character.

When I start running Kara's with my shaman I intend to do it with a pretty solid crew at first to see if I can hang, that won't be an issue, once I get past that if I pug, it's 1 roll per character. I'm contributing 4 characters, it doesn't matter who's at the keyboard IMO.

This brings me back to Molten Core and the days of our 40 man raids though... we have a VERY solid raiding loot policy, every situation is covered by it, the rules are very black and white and cover every arguement we've ever had with limited interpretation. The only time we had major drama about the loot rules was when a priest rolled on the Eye of Divinity for the 5th time, and won it for the 5th time... and actually took it this time instead of passing.

The deal is the priest had been there for 5 other drops, and each time he rolled, got lucky and won. Each time another priest was there and had the other pieces of the quest (eye of shadow) to get his staff... so Ihatepugs (the priest) would pass to them. This time that caused drama, Ihatepugs had finally gotten his eye of shadow, so he needed the eye of divinity.

The drama you ask? Ihatepugs was also playing a shaman in the raid.

The catch is, only a few of the raids officers even knew that Ihatepugs was also the shaman... none of the players knew. Ihatepugs always showed up at the last minute when we were that "one healer short" of a successful raid. He always topped the healing charts (as did his shaman counterpart) and was on top of dispels like you wouldn't believe. He was always welcomed, even though he was never on vent. I think the funniest part was when the shaman blamed Ihatepugs for one of the players deaths... over vent. A huge argument ensued where the player was saying that he never got heals from the shaman but the priest always was healing him... so if he wanted to blame anyone it should be the shaman for not ever healing him...

In the end, it all boils down to the fact that the characters are NEEDED to succeed in that run, and as long as everyone knows up front about the loot rules, they should just STFU and deal with it.

I tell people I group with, take all the trash loot you want, it's on FFA, for bosses if an item drops I want, I'll be /rolling on it with all 4. If you don't like this, leave now. Then we blow through the instance in record time and get mad xp and moderately phat lewts.

I get the reasons for rolling on one character of a multibox team, but here's my perspective: People need to understand that you have purchased that many slots in the group and that each slot gets a chance at gear. I like the suggestion of playing with people that understand this up front.

I get one roll per character I'm playing. I don't see any rationalisation for doing it any other way.

I made room in my WC boost run for a guildy (a co-worker irl even). He was a complete loot hog and would slow me down to loot. Granted, this was his first toon on this faction so he needed money. That's fine but I'd keep chugging along and getting xp. He started to loot too far ahead and die. That's fine, I was on a hunter, no rez for you, bud. He always complained that he wanted it on free-for-all so he could get cloth drops and grey trash to vendor. That's fine. I'd sit there and wait between instance runs while he went to vendor his over stuffed bags (that I crafted for him). The agreement was that I'd still get to do a /roll for boss loot. He was a druid so he wanted a lot of the same gear as my shammies. One day he runs up to the boss (before I could switch it to Group Loot - which is how I handled the boss loot so I got a chance at it), and aggros the fight. Then after I save his ass, he loots the body and gets the boss drop without my getting to do any kind of roll on it....

Later I was running other guild mates through SM. He asked to come with and I reluctantly agreed. This meant I only got to only take 2 of my shammies. I didn't want to hear him complain at work, so I let him come with. He insisted on free for all. I told him flatly NO. I said I'm here for gear too. If you want to come for xp great, but don't get greedy about stupid trash. So we end up killing Doan. With group loot on things should have been fine, but somehow we ended back on FFA. I don't remember how, I think I disconnected or something and wasn't group leader anymore. Anyhow, he was on a warrior (has no toons over level 30 but he's more alt happy than anyone) and decided he wanted the epic tanking ring that dropped. I wanted it for any of my shamans. I was all enhancement at the time and it seemed like a great ring for any of my toons. He insisted I should only get to roll on it once (thereby robbing me of it really). Then there was an awesome shield that also dropped later (we did several runs through all of the SM's). The chapeau also dropped from the same fight. While telling his irl wife that yes, she could take the hat (again we somehow ended up in FFA), he "misheard" and took that to mean he could take the shield.

I never let him go into any instances with me again. Since he was used to being helped all the time (Hydraxis Alliance are pathetic like that, they can't solo-quest to save their lives) and this was his first time as a Horde he didn't know what to do without being hand-held while leveling. The rest of the guild were only leveling little alts, and were doing solo-quests between boosting runs. Well, he finally dopped the guild and unsubbed. All because he was a loot hog and no one wanted to take him with to do anything. Now I never put it on FFA and I always roll on all my toons. Lesson learned.

We killed attumen and the mount dropped. I asked how i should roll, and the randoms answer was (in a flash): u roll one time! I didnt even bothered, and rolled with all just to bug'em.

From that day on, doesnt matter how many chars i have, i roll once. I dont wanna look too greedy.
I did won the Maggy 20 slot bag by raid roll, with my 5 chars on it lollo :D

I guess I should add that I don't really need any gear from Kara. My tank is a T6 instance raid tank and my shaman are all S2 or better geared. The only things that I claim, which I say up front are the lightning capacitor and the boe nature damage ring (2/4 atm).

That means for greed, I roll only once instead of as many times as I brought chars.
For need, I would pass for raiding mains, but that's it.

If more than one person dies than only rez one. One rez for one roll. :P I am not sure how I would handle it other than to say if for some reason I am going to allow a random person to join me I would lay the loot rules down early.

When I take guildies (small guild, long time friends, only 5 of us in it), I set Group Loot and turn looting off on my 4 followers (or however many left there are).

I do this for myself only - they all know and freely accept that rolling, like everything else in WoW is character based. We've been gaming together for 8 years now, so rolling is a rarity anyway.

If I was with a pug (for reasons passing comphrehension) I'd be rolling on all 4, or /afk my way outta there.

The only time i'm grouped with someone else is running a RL buddy through an instance and typically I don't loot a thing unless it's a blue BoP he can't use and I disenchant it.

Other than that I don't group with anyone else so as to avoid confrontations over loot.

I would agree with the 4 rolls out of 5 but this is usually what happened to me when I was in a non-mboxing guild.

someone in the guild asks for a special run and I let them loot everything because I think it's a one time event, in particular if you are running someones lowbie through an instance.
Then the person has so much fun they want to run with you all the time ( go figure, they got 100% of the loot for 1/5 the work ).
This invariably expands (usually within one day) to them wanting to twink their toon in all possible instances at my expense.

The best thing that happened to me was to join an mboxing guild. nobody needs run-throughs or twinking and it's just nice to be among like minded players.

Amen to that! Although by the time I am usually playing, the wife and kids are asleep.

I usually let the person I'm with do all the looting with FFA active. Mainly because if I have someone else in the group, it's specifically a friend and specifically to run a particular instance for quests for that friend.
