Sounds good, can you post more info - like how you pull and approx time taken to clear, spec of the pali, etc...
Cheers,
Stealthy
:P i already posted about this before its gr8 isnt it, i do it on a pally aswell, next up is pally aoe strat :D, ill try do it and draw up a guide.
What kind of gear do you have on the paladin?(armory?)
I've used a Protection Paladin to mass clear Gnomer... but the same can be done for SM if you do it in stages...
The key is lots of mana :P
+stam +int +mp5 +spell damage
Highest order shield spike you can find.
Trinkets to add to +block if you have
The key is not to have so much +def that they don't hit you - you want to be hit - block is a better thing. There are some good trinkets and such that improve block rating
Blessing of Sanctuary, Improved Retribution Aura, and Spam Improved Holy Shield, and use Conceration to get aggro.
Two shields come to mind, footman's shield or the Sporeggar poison shield (my pally has both spiked for defensive work)
Put Mana Oil on your weapon... Judge anything to wisdom and use seal of wisdom while fighting... they will kill themselves on you... you don't have to kill them yourself :P
Spec's:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...and&n=Palakaii
Palakaii is my brothers toon, he's well geared but not amazingly geared, lots of KZ runs and some higher stuff. He would run in, gather the entire bottom level of the cathedral, then stand there and consecrate/holy shield it to death.
One thing I did was throw flamestrikes or blizzards into the mix as it got lower so I knew I wouldn't pull agro, a few times I did pull agro and bam, dead.
Palakaii had to bail to play with his roomate on another server, so I borrowed a guildies pally, much lower gear:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...ckhand&n=Croll
I was actually 5boxing with croll, made the strat of follow the pally a lot more dangerous... so I would park the 4 noobs, and pull the lower level with the pally, repeat for the upper level and then do the cathedral in 2 parts.
Important things to note:
Wizards have a flame shield, this does squat to the paladin cuz he's 70th, this will DEVESTATE level 40's quickly. You pull 15-20 mobs, 4-5 will be wizards with their flame shield up... ouchy!
Don't flamestrike/blizzard too soon, it's painful.
FFS don't bubble... I fatfingered bubble once... everyone died very quickly and the paladin was all lonely...
If you park the 40's out of LOS you can bubble :P
I did the same thing, been experimenting with both Prot Pally and Arcane Mage.
...please tell me that first paladin's gear is a joke and those epics were saved from sharding.
that gear isent that bad actualy...
kara healing items
kara shaman helmet, which i guess would be ok for a ret spec
pvp items, which work for tanking and maybe ret too
t4 ret legs, which look decent for tanking too
warrior armor/boots
caster weapon, fine for tanking
a few +spell damage items, fine for tanking
At second glance it looks like he joined a guild already into tier 5 content and was just along for the ride and got whatever dropped. *checks guild leader*, has hyjal, ssc, tempest keep loot, so I'm guessing so.
I tried prot pally thing, didn't work, as it just took too long to kill. SM Cathedral mobs run off after low hp, then casters will nuke at you, so you wind up chasing down some mobs.
It was easier to do 4 pulls with 70 mage to aoe, and clear faster then Pally doing 2 pulls, pulling/dpsing/getting mana.
The way I handled the mobs running at low health...
70 pally parked spamming holy shield/consecration.
40-42 priest healing him.
40-42 Pally/Mage/Mage would run around as they fled spamming arcane explosion.... normally one or two taps of AE would down them, and I could do circles outside the main pack to not get hit with the fireshields.
As for the casters, I would round them up using counterspell.
Ultimately I see this being a VERY valid way to powerlevel characters when Team Doublemint hits 70th... bring in the pally + 2x mage and 2x level toons and clear it faster than you can blink.
You plan on bringing 3 70 to power level 2 lowbies? Don't expect same xp by the way as just 1 70 and 4 lowbies.
It's more the materials farm and the XP is a byproduct. I cleared 600 silk last night, around 100g in enchanting mats. All said and done, in 2-3 hours of playing I cleared about 250G while learning what I was doing.Quote:

Enter the instance and send the fel manually to each target until the first floor has aggroed all mobs...gotta do this quick and watch his cleave so it doesn t kill any mob. Once he has all mobs, throw 4 or 5 seeds of corruption. Bam all dead.
Second pull, same thing before the door. Park lower level alts on follow at the stairs, pull each mob one by one, seed, move on.
Park alts in front of door, open door, send fel to first row in front of boss, then pull him back while he aggroes all center rows. Once back at the door, seed and has he regen life send him to clear sides...bring him back and seed.
Move forward to facing boss and park alts behind you. Send pet to boss. Pet will aggro all adds from each side. As soon as 2 adds have reached the pet, spam seed. All will die at the same time. Mograine will come up, finish her and the dude, rince and repeat.
Takes max 30 minutes and gives about 1/4 level
NOTE: I usually don't bother looting besides the bosses for disenchanting items. Not looting means a lot of time saved. I would loot once every 3 clears.
That sounds like a very sexy combo Fur :)
I currently use a Frost Mage (I play around with Arcane as in SM the guys cast on me alot giving me 500~ mana back everytime I resist.) and I use a Prot/Pally sometimes too.

Thats a single clear of the cathedral, the first pull is everything up to this point, it's not quite as fast because the 70 has to gather it.
Been doing cath for a while, too :P
I'd like to point out that Skullflame shield ( http://wowhead.com/?item=1168 ) is kinda must-have for the pally, since it scales with +spelldamage. The drain effect actually gets 100% of it. So with this shield, I'd say spelldamage should be your top priority stat :P
I haven't got that much spelldamage (480 atm :p) but the shield drains 535 (couple of talents affecting this, Crusade and One-handed specialization I think) health every time it procs. The massive amount of mobs hitting you makes this happen quite frequently, and that's what makes the shield really good :P
Oh, did I mention the aoe fire spell proc? Yesh.. it has that, too. Just a little sugar on the top. Does about 100 damage to everyone around with my spelldamage. Feels almost as if this shield was designed with AoEing instances in mind :P
I'm using this build when powerleveling:
http://wowhead.com/?talent=sZV0tIx0zxxVZVbxdbczb
I've gone halfway into retri for some extra consecrate damage (Crusade, Sanctity aura, Imp sanctity, that's 1,03*1,10*1,02 which is about +15,5%)
Seal of command with a 2h weapon is good to have to finish bosses :p (takes a while with a onehander)
Also, I COULD take some points from reckoning to spend elsewhere, since it's still quite likely to have it up at all times, but I'm doing fine as it is.
I use sanctity aura, blessing of sanctuary and righteous fury. If you don't have sanctity aura, use retribution.
BoSanc is a must have, though. It reduces your damage intake by a lot, since the damage you receive comes from many sources, rather than just one, each of which will be reduced by an absolutic value.
What I usually (always, actually) do, is park my crew halfway into the first hall, and have my paladin do a clockwise run around the courtyard pulling everything, then returning to the first hall right next to the courtyard-side door so all the casters have to come next to me aswell. Then I pop my trinket and avenger's wrath, and consecrate yay. You may want to use seal of light if you don't have skullflame shield (or have unlucky drain procs :P), by the way. When the mobs start running away (they usually head towards the entrance), I go into the doorway so the casters won't have LoS on me again, and finish them off with yet another consecrate when they come back. Casters might do a few AEs on my crew on their way back, but they don't hurt that much.
Then I take my crew next to a bench outside the cathedral near the doors, go inside and kill everything with consecrate. If you DIDN'T know, pulling Mograine aggroes all the mobs in here so no need to do any running. I pull them next to the door just in case, so I won't miss any exp due to being out of range. Nothing special here though, since there's no LoS to worry about. I use a 2h mace with seal of command to kill Whitemane and Mograine :p I won't bother killing Fairbanks, since he's such a fair guy.
Then I repeat.
Yes, my crew doesn't do anything, apart from the xp leeching. Doesn't seem to be necessary :p I rarely need any heals and never (so far) have to use bubble.
And now for some tips :P :
- * When pulling the outdoor mobs, try to face them as much as possible while running. This way you'll block, parry or dodge most of their attacks (and that's good :P). I usually do this by strafing sideways and jumping all the time, then turning to face the mobs in the air.
* When you're pulling the outdoor mobs, and are next to the cathedral doors, you MIGHT want to take a shortcut and leap over the staircase "fence" next to the big tree. Don't do this. This doesn't happen always, but occasionally some mobs will stop following you and return to their original place (Not as if I didn't have enough health to pull them again, it's just frustrating and time-consuming :p)
* When you get hit by a frostbolt or slow, cleanse it. Don't use blessing of freedom, since you want to have sanctuary up at all times :P
* Remember to use your spelldamage trinkets and AW :p
Some statistics:
- * My first 4 characters took 24 hours played to level 40 this way (I did 1-8 with the aid of a *cough* hunter pet *cough*, 8-10 in RFC with paladin, 10-25 in SFK, 25-40 in SM) without any rested (OKAY FINE, maybe I did have some, about half a level at max). Also, I idled a few hours :p
* One cath run takes about 10 mins, about half of which is looting. It's good money, though :P. Also, if I didn't loot them, the 5 instances / hour limit would hit me bad.
* My consecrate ticks for 210 with AW and trinket :p
Erm, that's all I guess
Ack, gotta hurry now, probably forgot something.
