Hi guys, I recently started 3 boxing mages, using the new refer a friend bonus I'm leveling 3 times as fast :)
I know for soloing leveling arcane is the way to go, should I be still going arcane for all of my mages for leveling to 70?

When was arcane ever the way to go for solo leveling?
All three are good.
What's your favorite color, white, red, or blue?
Well it gives you less down time due to mana efficiency, so faster overall I guess.Quote:

No it's garbage at lower levels, run the dpm and dps of arcane missles vs frost/fireball. Also it's terribly mana expensive, so if you have to cast an extra one your dpm is garbage.
Frost. Blue is pretty.
With three mages you'll only ever need two spells anyway - Ice Barrier and Arcane Explosion :D
You don't use arcane missles when you level as arcane...Quote:

Im leveling 4 horde mages as frost... Ice Barrier up.. collect as many mobs as you can.. frost nova.. arcane explosion till they die. I tend to pull 10+ at a time no problem.

Try to get some more; I used to pull 10+ mobs before I even had ice barrier without too much problem (that was with Blizzard, though, so maybe a bit harder)
And AM is what you use to level as arcane. I did 1-70 as arcane on my current mage (still am, actually) Frostbolt, AM, Fireblast = dead, repeat until no more mobs are in the area. Maybe drink everyonce in a while or evocate.
And always AM if your clearcasting is up.
Well, I meant you shouldn't use it, not that you couldn't. I'm not going to go to your house and smash your AM key if you do. It's too inefficient and fireball and frostbolt do almost the same damage as they do whether you spec into them or not at these levels due to the fact that there's no decent spell damage gear until the 40's. Don't forget we're talking leveling. After 40 AM starts to become decent, not before it.Quote:

My main was my mage for almost 2 years and I saved a lost puppy yesterday, so I've got the street creds to back up my claim.
I started to put together a full on talent spec guide for each 10 levels for you but gave up...
If you are questing, the key is to kill quick, preferably 1 shot, so go for reduction in spell times for max DPS spells.
Thefore I'd recommend going fire all the way, it's a long time since I played mage seriously but fire still appears to be the best for burst. Kill em quick, loot em quick and move on.
EDIT: If you get to the stage where you can 1 shot kill your quest mobs you can reduce your kill speed by up to 30% which is definately the best route to follow for questing.... If the mob ends up on 10% and all chars recast, that's double the time to kill the mob, even if it ends up being overkill.... I guess the exception to this is arcane missiles... but I've never done testing on this.
Oh thanks :) Can you link me an talent build on a talent calculator if you don't want to write a guide please? I just want to see some examples of things. Cheers :DQuote:

If I went fire with 3 or more mages, I'd definitely go with a scorch impact spec. Lots of crit, extremely mana efficient, and since you have 3 or more mages you stack the scorch debuff so fast it's like it's always there so the damage is there as well. Also, with impact on that many scorch mages things will spend most of there time stunlocked.

Ok my mages at lv 14 atm, I have this problem however where one mage would die and I'll have to manually run it back and res and it seems to be wasting a lot of time.
Does survivibility get better later on with mana shield?
Or do you think I should throw in a Pally and 4 box it for the res?
Mages have crappy survivability, and most of it hinges on movement, and since you're boxing your movement is very restricted. Going to have to deal with it, or have a healer.Quote:
