I was wondering if I have a party of 5 I get Party bonus what about 4 or less? If I dont get any bonus after 5 then your better off duel-boxing a whole party from the start.....I mean it would be ALOT faster and you are leveling 5 guys at once.

Downfall would be the cost and maybe pc's But give it a go.

I will test it out and see the diffrence from boxing 4 or less to level 10 and 5 to level 10 and see the time diffrences.

Anyway Guys Test it out for yourself I know you want to..

group bonus is given for 3 and more boxing afaik

correct me if I'm wrong:

the time killing an elite mob with a group should be equal to the time killing a non elite mob solo.

but the elite bonus and the group bonus should handle the reduced XP you get because you are in a group.

just get level 20 and hang out in instances

for example:

killing a non elite mob (BC) solo with rested bonus = 1084 EXP
killing an elite mob in an instance with a group of 5 ppl and the rested bonus = 1218 EXP

the better test would be the avg XP / hour you can achieve with 1 character compared to the avg XP across a party of 5 (starting at the same level)

factoring in here would be the number of kills you can achieve with a larger group. although the xp per kill might be lower... the volume should more then make up for it

Well heres a trick for you all, it really takes the pain off of 1-45 grind / questfest and speeds things 10x faster than what you would usually level at.

You should be always sitting at about 30k-60k exp p/h at all times.

I personally use pally and soon to use mage for this, my methods are as follows.

Run 5box through instances with your ice mage / prot pally / warrior aoe's
You should be able to do stockades and almost every side of scarlet monastery in about 3-4 pulls.
If you are running mages through software boxing make sure u can alt tab to one of them to keep blizzard on the targets so they dont run from your main to make things faster, if your hardware boxing you know the drill.

I also have tried some risky moves in the last few days with the first major pull of SM cath, where my pally would have all mobs down to about 5-10% then zone out the instance and let my alts aoe's finish the 30+ mobs that are hanging out there, all die non rested for full exp 360 per, and when you work it out the first pull if you get it flawless with the zoning and pulling = 10k exp flat.

1-10 Solo grind 4box
10-15 Deadmines (whatever you are comfortable with)
15-25 Stockades 3 pulls
25-45 Scarlet monastery
(Library for 25-35) 4-5pulls
(Armory for 35-37) 4 pulls
(Cath for 37-45) 4 pulls

If you are having someone else controll one of you 5box accounts then you can also earn about 350g p/h in SM as a disenchanter

Run 5box through instances with your mage / pally / warrior aoe's

making the gold via disenchant service or disenchanting the loot and selling the shards?

yeh i get my bro to run my last box and he just cruises around and loots corpses the whole run which is usually 8 minutes a instance :P.

each run we collect shards and dusts, also collect a hell of alot of cloth.

Once he runs out of bag space i get him to hearth to IF / SW or whatever major city you are able to go to and bank the stuff, then i run my main and one of my boxes down to the meeting stone to summon him again.

We dont flood the market on the same day, we sell it all off in small increments, but yes we DE pretty much anything we get our hands on.

Take note the meeting stone ritual must be started by your box ur leveling or it wont work and ur main just assists him :D.

I might make a full guide on general forums at a later date how this all works and format it best i can i think, and maybe add a video or 2 of my pulls.

In eq1 I have 24 toons.

I put six in the exp group, and ungroup the other 18. As the exp group will outdamge any single toon (most of the time lol), they get the exp with the other 18 toons helping to kill the mobs faster ... And they get the group bonus. AND I only group them when they have lessons up (2X exp bonus 1/2 hour every 20 hours). After the first exp group get its double exp for 1/2 hour I group another 6 toons, turn on thier lessons and get them double exp for 1/2 hour etc. lol.

XP At Level 1 Tests:

Single XP=50 Mob Level 1 XP=62 Mob Level-2
2 Guys XP=31 Mob Level 1 XP=32 Mob Level-2
3 Guys XP=19 Mob Level 1 xP=23 Mob Level-2
4 Guys XP=16 Mob Level 1 XP=19 Mob Level-2
5 Guys XP=14 Mob Level 1 XP=17 Mob Level-2

I have not tested it any further yet but for some reason i did not get Party bonus for 5 I am thinking it could be due to the fact of the level my guys are.

Other then that would love to see more tables from Duel-Boxers like this at higher levels please! Send them in!

I think it will generally be faster per character to level 1 at a time (as in /played time), because of the reduction in xp gained. But in terms of all character progression it's better to group them up (and I think, the more the merrier aslong as they are all the same level).

With my warrior killing and priest ungrouped and healing I was managing 25k xp/hour (including travelling/afk time), with my warrior and warlick grouped it was 15k xp/hour (at level 30 - yes I suck at maximising xp/hour rates). but still a net gain of 5k xp.hour considering two toons are getting that rate.

To use your examples, but looking at total xp gain:

Single XP=50 Mob Level 1 XP=62 Mob Level-2
2 Guys XP=62 Mob Level 1 XP=64 Mob Level-2
3 Guys XP=57 Mob Level 1 xP=69 Mob Level-2
4 Guys XP=64 Mob Level 1 XP=76 Mob Level-2
5 Guys XP=70 Mob Level 1 XP=85 Mob Level-2

So as a whole any group configuration will gain more total xp for killing a mob compared to a single player (but will receive less xp each).

With some sort of idea on kill times, someone with better maths skills than me could probably work out which set-up works out best.

If two toons can kill 1 mob in half the time it takes a single person to kill that mob then they will be better off by 12xp each*. I imagine kill time doesn't have a linear relationship to number of group members though (so if a single player takes 10 secs to kill a mob, I don't think 2 players will take 5 secs and 5 players take 2 secs), but it would be interesting to see some theory/numbers on this. I'm sure a suitably smart person (i.e. not me) could devise some sort of formula for this.


*How I got that number:
Single toon kills mob worth 50xp in n secs
Two toon kill two mobs worth 31 xp to each of them in n secs (as they kill it twice as fast)

So in n secs single has got 50xp
duo have got 31x2=62xp each (so 12xp more than a solo player in the same time).

Yea you are very true that mate and good thinking i say you are correct thanks for that table.....i guess for the short of time lost it is worth while due to the fact we get 1/2 more then what we would get as a single :D Thanks for that.
