Hi everyone.. new quad boxer here :)
Is it normal for people to shout at you, and say things like
"ellay did it first" - "your a sheep" "faggot" "you should be banned"
Its nice when people complement you, but good lord people can be harsh.. why are they so upset with us?

[edit2] If they call you a faggot, report them to a GM, they will get a temporary ban (or a permanent one of it's their 3rd offence). Verbal abuse is not allowed, especially not when it's sexually explicit.
Because either A) Mommy and Daddy will not give them money to dual-box, or B) They work at a dead end job and can't afford to do so.
Honestly I think that is the biggest part of it. Some people do honestly think it goes against the spirit of the game being an MMO and all. They fail to realize that most of us would still solo regardless of boxing. A lot of us just don't like the hassle of trying to get groups together and so forth.

Oh one thing to do is make a Macro that you can click that will say something like this:
Hello. Thank you for your interest in my hobby. Blizzard CM's have repeated defended the hobby and said in writing that it is okay as long as nothing is automated beyond what abilities are granted by in game macros. I.E. 1 keystroke = 1 action only. You can find more out about the hobby as well as links to CM comments on it at dual-boxing.com.

Don't ever let it bother you.. Say nothing but grats, put them on ignore, and definitely report them for foul language. GM interaction is quite often the best way to get someone to leave you alone. Heh, I used to flame so many people until I got a suspension, then it all changed. ;)

Being a boxer you will get more attention than anyone else and some of it negative. I guess it kind of depends on what server you are on and how many boxers are on it. Most of the time I simply respond "Can it burger flipper' and quickly do /ignore X 5 and go about my business.
To tell you the truth, I get surprised now when someone doesn't call me something negative.
If it's especially bad, like [s]faggot[/s] or something, I'll report them 5 separate times just because I know it will piss them off even more that they were multiboxxorported PIZZOW 5 times and are likely suspended and fuming, lol.
Last night someone spouted out "ZOMG Cheater!"
Samam says "Where?"
Samarn says "Quick, report them!"
Sarnam says "Oh just let them go."
Sarnarn says "They should be banned!"
Then I simply went on with my night ;).
The best one was right after RAF someone called me a cheater and I said, yeah watch this. So I summoned a level 1 lowbie I had with my Shaman and granted him a bunch of levels.
The idiot was then running around telling people that I had hacks that allowed my shaman to summon and grant levels. It was too epic.

Honestly WoW is full of more negative interactions that positive ones on the server I am on. I have noticed this has dropped as a lot of the younger crowd is getting ready to go back to school.
In regards to replying to losers I usualy don't say a thing at all as someone else on a negative trip will /2 and light them up.
I just wish WoW did a better job at policing their population. It's not just an MMO with WoW for a lot of people this is almost life which in itself is kinda sad.

Yes, the abuse is pretty much constant. It seemed to slow down a bit once I hit 70 and put on a few pieces of season 2, but I still get constant abuse in battlegrounds (if we lose, it's my fault, if we win it's because they carried me). I don't even bother to reply to anyone. All they want is a response out of you, just deny them that. I won't even put out the effort to /ignore them, they don't even deserve that much.
Last night I was running with my 5 shamans, and as you guys know when you follow, your slaves are stacked on top of each other.
So this 70 rogue was asking me about multi boxing and stuff, being cool about it. His final question was, "So why two shaman?" I targeted him, had my slaves assist, then did my spread out formation, and a /wave
His response.... /swoon

Nice. I'll have to remember that one. I got my first "reported" last night. I hit my "this is multiboxing and it's legit" macro, he said "no it isn't, reported" so I tried to explain to him it was very legal, after like 4 minutes, I still didn't convince him. So all I could do, was hit some formation macros, drop totems, play catch, chain heal, dance, throw snowballs, /wave and leave. Most people are very cool with it, just some can't get past the "OMG you have no life" idea.Quote:

Guys, do not forget that harassment is harassment, multiboxing or not. Calling you racial epithets, foul language or repeated harassment is grounds for a ban and reporting people IS successful. ;) Just because some folks have low opinions of us, Blizzard still likes us. In fact, I'd argue that we're probably one of their more cooperative/friendly communities of folks than normal soloers (GIMPS!).
It's good to have a thick skin for all the folks that will question / belittle your playstyle and accomplishments in game.
That being said, if they start violating Terms and Conditions of game as Ughmahedhurtz points out, unleash the reports x5, the GM staff will take action on the offending account. I've watched people who were spewing fairly profane things at me literally get disconnected right in front of me, some return 3days later - one in particular I've never seen logged in again.
