Horde or Alliance?
Horde or Alliance?
If you had the chance to pick the Horde or the Alliance, without friends or guilds swaying you, which would you choose? I've played Horde for a few years and I could use a change of scenery. The Horde seem to have a lot more territory to sneak around in on a PVP server which would make those areas come to life. But I do like Org and UC as lot.
PVP or PVE?
Having played on a PVE server for years I find it to lack a certain amount of spice. Looking over my shoulder and wonder if I'm going to get ganked/attacked certainly adds spice to exploring and questing. I still have very fond memories of doing a warlock quest on the Alliance side, having to sneak, for the first time, into the Barrens. Very exciting to say the least!
Going to Ratchet as an Alliance doesn't mean anything on PVE. But going in as PVP is very dangerous and I've been lucky to get out without being killed half a dozen times.
What Server and Population?
I'm from California and want at least a Pacific server so I can interact with more players. Population-wise Medium is better than full because of long waiting times. Balance between Horde and Alliance is important I think. If I'm an Alliance who has the majority population do the Horde gank a lot more or is it safer in that respect? Would there be a reason to be in the Horde outnumbered 3:1 by the Alliance?
Gender?
I've always had female players because their nicer to look at. Although when I start my five "man" group of dwarves the paladin will be a dude because male dwarves are cool. The backup shaman will be lady dwarves.
Race?
The starting area influences me most on this. But how the femail players look comes up second.

For the Alliance!
Human Diplomacy
Heroic Presence
I just transferred to Kil'Jaeden(its PST) to run with more active boxers, so far it's been pretty awesome. It's high pop but I haven't seen any ques yet.

I've played horde on 3 servers and alliance on two. My experience has been that trade and zone chats on alliance have had a much higher "Anal [Skullflame Shield]" quotient than horde. I do miss the overpopulated alliance faction's AH, though. Having access to cheap items and mats 24/7 is quite handy.

i like being against the most populated side, gives me more to kill ;)

Also on Kil'Jaeden Alliance, it is a good server with the most active BG i think.
good place to be for a multiboxer, since theres a bunch of us here already.
look up anyone in Legion of Boom while you are on and say Hi =)

well alliance seem to have a lot younger amount of players more anal this and that
horde--- they all think they are the best for unknown reasons, every single raid for pve has "pst stats+achieve or u /ignore you" i dont mind because i dont pve much, and I got the achieves, but my friend /quit wow because he doesnt have the achieve for uludar so no one will let him go... o and gearscore lol but multiboxers dont have this prob much as they can get nice gear from heroic badges

Go alliance and come to Daggerspine I need another boxer there! Its PVP, you can go what ever you want, i have an all Draenai team cause I love those guys, remind me of the Galka in FFIX. 1 pally, 3 shaman, and a priest.

It seems the horde have better pvp racials.
But the human pve faction racial is big.
If you have no friends on the server, and are starting from scratch...
Well I picked alliance four years ago, in that situation.
But the choice is yours.
PvE vs PvP server is probably the single largest consideration.
You can go to a site which tracks population.
If world PvP is a goal, you'd want to be on a server with 40% of the population as your faction.
That way, you're not automatically steamrolled always.
But there will always be a good number of players to attack.
If you go PvE as a focus, and are into raiding, you'll want a large population of your own faction.
Which will mean more guilds that raid content.
Either server, you'll want a healthy market.
Where you can make a decent amount on an epic/rare you find.
But where it doesn't kill you to buy things while leveling up.
Or you can just pick a server, select randomize for race/appearance.
And go with what it gives you.

Ive been horde since day one, I have tried Alliance a couple of times but just cant do it.
PvP is nice in theory, I started on a PvP server, but when you cant finish your dailys without being killed 20 times by people in way better gear then you and when your alt gets smashed and camped by a bored level 80 it starts to lose its luster. I have switched to PvE and am quite happy there now.
Server pops I go for high enough to stay at high but not to get full.
Gender depends on race, Horde side I play males on everything except for Belfs. I just feel that they look better. My 5x Belf Pally team will be all girls, but my Mages, Hunters, Druids are all Male. If I played Alliance
Females - Nelf, Human, Draenei
Male - Dwarf, Gnome (Gnomes could go either way)
I typically play troll these days, hardly anyone plays them (Check out WoW census) and I kinda like them so any new toon I roll will be a troll if possible and hence Male based on aesthetic reasons above.

When Vanilla wow came out it was Horde for me, no question about that.
When I looked at the original race selection, I could really only imagine playing Nelf on the Ally side, but both Orc, Tauren and especially Undead intrigued me on the Horde side.
However if I had to pick today I would choose Alliance, this is basically because now Alliance has Draenei and soon Worgen, 2 races that I really like.
Basically Draenei is you insta classic multiboxing setup /paladin/shammy).
I have always liked Taurens but sorry Worgen is the no 1 beastie race for me now (I love dogs, what can I say) :)
