[ISBoxer] WoW Hotkey modifier+1 send to all clients?

Hey guys,

I just started using ISBoxer today, and managed to successfully get two teams started up (only running three accounts at the moment). I run with Bartender and have hotbars set, with bottom being 1 - =, Bar 2 is alt+1 - alt+= then Bar 3 is ctrl and Bar 4 is ctrl+alt+#. Taking advice to start three new toons, I went with mages. After level 4, I had all the mages set up with the exact same UI and everything, 1 = fireball alt+1 = ice shield. But when I hit alt+1, only my master client buffed. Is this a setting with keymaps in ISBoxer, or did I just do something wrong? I haven't messed with any configs in IS or ISBoxer simply because I have no clue what I'm doing, even though I'd like to learn about setting up custom keymaps, I'm clueless there for now. Any help?

Next, with the pip instant swapping... do you guys set hotkeys to swap from wow1 to wow2 or wow3? or just alt+tab?

Finally, are there any good guides etc on how to effectively run mixed classes together? Because I have so many alts etc, right now I've got 2 lv67 druids (both dual spec'd balance / feral and its like playing 2 mages together, relatively easy) but also have a dk / priest combo I would like to try out, but I have no clue how to even start to set up the hotbars (aka action bars) and such to work and have the two classes play well together. I've read on the forums that people run like 2x shammies, 1 mage, 1 warrior, and a priest, but never how lol.

First issue.

If you make a keymap, the hotkey for the keymap causes the keymap to execute.
The wizard has created keymaps for you on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, - and =.

Pressing Alt + 1, is not a hotkey for a keymap.
Therefore, it is not passed to any other clients.

But it does execute on the current/hot/active window.

To make this into a Keymap, open ISBoxer Toolkit.
On the top pane, expand Keymaps and click on General Keymaps.
Below to the left, right click on Keymaps.
Create a new Keymap, I'd call it Alt + 1, but any name works.
On the right, set the click the arrow thing and set the hotkey to 1 with the mod Alt.
On the left, click the + to expand the hotkey.
Under steps, click on the 1.
On the right, right click on actions and select Keystroke Action >>> New Keystroke Action.
For a target, select All windows, or alternatively select All of (The Character Set the Mages are In).
For the output choose 1 with the Alt modifier.

Note, unlike the 1 key (found in the FTL DPS Keys Keymaps), this does not include an automatic assist.
It only sends Alt + 1, to all windows (or to the character set we specified).

If you wanted Alt + 1 to FTL assist, we could do that by further right clicking on Actions.
And then selecting Key Map Actions >>> Do Mapped Key Action.
And then selecting Window: Current, Keymap: General, Mapped Key: FTL Assist Me.
You'd then right click and move it up ahead of the keystroke action.




You'll definitely want to assign PiP swap keys, its a major strength of ISBoxer.

On the top, click on character sets.
Pick a set beneath this.
I'd actually do this for every set, and assign the same hotkey to Slot 1.
With the same account in Slot 1 for every set.

On the bottom left pane, click on the 1.
On the right, the top option is Hotkey to switch to this character.
Pick something... I use G13. But Shift F1 or Control F1 works fine.
I'd avoid Alt F1, because Slot 4 would be Alt F4, which sucks to press in WoW.





As far as teams go, just about anything works.

If you want to do pvp, you'll want as close to the same as possible for arena.
Unless you're doing arena for the quick points and don't want to go far.

Battlegrounds, any group of 5 toons will work.
But again 5x the same, or at least 2x Class A and 3x Class B or something similar works better.

For questing any combination of 5 works.

For instances, you'll generally need a tank type.
Or to be much better geared then the gear the instance drops.
Depending on your class make up (can they heal in their dps spec -- Balance Druids and Elemental Shammies?)
If not, you might want a dedicated healer toon, along with a dedicated tank.
And three dedicated DPS.

Thank you so much for showing me how to do that... now i can feel a little more comfortable making some custom keymaps. The way you outlined it was perfect, because generally my action bars are set for first row (1 - = ) to be all of my attacks for whatever class, except DK's use the 2nd row with Alt modifier. On my caster classes or any class with buffs etc, Alt modifier on the second row is generally buffs, third row with Ctrl modifier are generally heals, but I use HealBot so they're there just in case. Top row with Ctrl+Alt modifier is usually stuff like my innervate on druids or my food/water etc. Also my hotbutton for my quest completion/pick up macro is assigned to G there, but with Jamba, I'll probably be getting rid of that now. I have a G13 keyboard as well, and as a matter of fact just swapped it out for my microsoft split keyboard... Ctrl or Shift + F1 F2 & F3 (3 boxing at the max right now) are just a little difficult to hit... what keys do you use for your pip swapping with your G13 keyboard? (going to download the drivers for it now to activate my G1 - G18 keys)

Well, as i mentioned above, right now i'm at a max of 3 boxing until i can upgrade. I'll be doing a lot of 2 boxing because of my higher level alts, and my third account generally has all of my 80's, so no 3rd toon in the 60-68 range to make a 3rd client for. I'll probably take my druids in to some BG's at 80 as dual boomkins, but right now wanted to focus on leveling for all of my toons. What I meant by my question was not what team makeups are best ( I saw the post that post somewhere that I cannot find anymore about all of the combo's etc and carebearing) but really the mechanics of making it run. Setting up my 2 boomkin druids = piece of cake... just set all of their hotkeys the same, don't really even have to worry about making macro's. 1 DK + 1 Holy Priest = harder... no same skills, need probably lots of macro's.. so like I was referring to how exactly do you go about setting up your hotkeys and action bars + macro's for a class combo like that so that you can actually run the DK with the Priest just healing as needed? Does that make any sense? :D

I PiP swap with G13, G14, G15, G16 and G17.
I use G18 as the hotkey to invite my group.

You need to click the arrow beside the hotkey field and scroll down to find the G-Key.

I've broken Repeater into two hotkeys.
One for Keyboard only.
One for Mouse only.
First did a copy Keymap.
Then renamed them Keyboard Repeater and Mouse Repeater.
Then removed the checks from each, so keyboard only changes keyboard repeater etc.

I put Keyboard repeater on my M1 key, mouse on M2 and changed Keymaps to M3.
The toggles are two steps, step 1 is on and step 2 is off (which is better then a toggle action).
I added Light Action (respective M key on) to the Step 1's.
And Light Action (respective M key off) to the Step 2's.




You can configure keymaps where the priest heals, and the non healers do not.
Or you could look into repeater regions, with an addon like Vuhdo to interpret mouse clicks.
The repeater region is stronger, but key based macro heals work fine.

For DPS types, you can generally make a click castsequence, where you mash one key to do others as they are available for use. Then the tank/dps just mash one button. Sometimes you make two buttons, with tank and dps click buttons on each, but one with dps clicks for the healer and one without. That way, the healer can dps with the others if you don't need heals, but you can mash the other one - which has the healer doing no dps, when you want heals from the healer.




If you wanted to retain the original functionality of the G-Keys, for example three banks of keys.
You'd just make three sets of Keymaps.
And then have three more control Keymaps, one per M key.
With one step for each.
On the step it disables the Keymaps for the other two sets of Keymaps.
Turns off their lights.
Turns on its own M-key light.
And enables its own Keymap.

If you can think of what you want, you can probably do it with ISBoxer.
And if you can articulate it well enough, there are a lot of people with good knowledge to help.
And the IRC in browser (http://www.lavishsoft.com/chat/isboxer.php) is a strong resource too.

Correction to make... I use a G15 gaming keyboard (full board with 18 programmable keys on the left side) not the G13. But I still have the MR key etc to set them all up. Thank you very much for this detailed guide, Ualaa, this is very helpful and I've even managed to make more keybinds, aren't you proud? Lol.

Thank you for the information on the class combo's as well. I'm guessing most multiboxers out there that run multiple classes have macro's set on their main (lets just way warrior) that have multiple keys for the same attack on the main but each different one does something else on the healer type? I think this is going to be a time consuming learning process that I'll probably have to roll some lv1 toons and try it with them before I try with my higher levels ;-) Thank you for the info though, you've got me pointed in the right direction!

My paladin has a 96969 macro, on key 1.
The spacegirls she groups with have a click castsequence also on 1.

My mixed team tank needs three keys to tank.
I have a Mangle-Maul-Maul on 1.
I have a Faerie Fire (once) and Lacerate key on 2.
And Swipe spam on 3.
With the DPS on the team getting their click sequences on all three keys.

Use whatever keys work for you.

So any toon can click on my Grid display, and pass the click to the healer.
Who via Clique then casts whatever heal is bound to that click (Left Click = Renew; Alt + Left Click = PW: Shield etc).

Ualaa, I think Lax should pay you for giving some of this great help. Zanthor got like 5 years of IS for doing the same thing and yours are precise and easy to understand, almost easy enough for me, but I am a special case :p

That sounds an awful lot like HealBot. I was worried I wouldn't be able to use my HealBot anymore, but may just not like I used to. As soon as I get all the hotkeys down, I'll start looking into mapping the mouse. I think I see how to set up at least the DK/Priest team now.. well, at least enough to play around with it in goldshire until I get it right ;-) Thanks Ualaa!

You can use Healbot or Vuhdo as stand alone options, OpenRDX (not sure if it works stand alone or not) or Clique + Grid for repeater based heals.

Sweet walk-through Ualaa, even has video's! Thank you very much :-) Very nice to know how to manually add characters and teams in there. I noticed the wizard sometimes doesn't see the character until after you've logged them in once.
