320GB 7200rpm SATA hdd or 250GB HIGH-SPEED Solid State Disc SATA ?

I planning too buy a zepto hydra A17

But i think the 320GB 7200rpm SATA hdd can´t handle 5 copies of wow. lots of lagg in shattrath orgrimmar...

Are 250GB HIGH-SPEED Solid State Disc much better ? So my question is can i run 5 copies of wow on this disk without lagg in shattrath and orgrimmar.. ??

Edit: my bad. i think they are in existance. but if you have $3 g's to spend on it... sure. why not.

If it's just to run wow - you're better off getting multiple drives. Plus you only need about 30 gigs to have double the space for wow.

What processor and RAM do you have? What brand SSD do you plan on buying?

SSDs are great when used properly but there aren't any freely available at the moment that work great as system drives. The intel ones will probably be the best for this purpose but the OCZ Cores suffer from the wear levelling algorithms slowing writes and can cause stuttering with many OS related tasks.

Where SSDs excel is in fast repetitive small reads such as WoW accessing the data folder. For this you are best suited to buying a 32GB SSD and symlinking your WoW data folder, whilst using a good quality HDD setup as your system disk. This way the SSD is not susceptible to write weaknesses as it is basically never written to and you don't need to spend squillions of dollars to get the best of both worlds.

That looks good. Raid 0 is two drives, striped, - which is great.

With your setup - you'll need Vista 64 bit or 1 gig ram will go to waste.

If you get vista 32 you can only address a grand total of 4 gigs ram - that includes the video card. That leaves you 3 gigs to play with. So you basically have 1 gig of ram that you can't use.

Since the OS and other apps probably use 1 gig - that's 2 gigs free for 5 copies of wow. That's not enough, since each copy uses a min of 500 - 700 megs.

If you get vista 64 bit you should be ok ram wise. Although I'd probably suggest 6 gigs if you can manage it.

Thats a nice setup. I would recommend going 64 bit though and if you can stretch the budget, drop back the speed of the RAM and go for 8gig instead. This will be much more useful than 4gig of 2GHz stuff. I wouldn't worry about having 5 separate installs of WoW on the raid, just load it from the one folder. If you want extra speed you can still add in a $200 32GB SSD for symlinking the data file in the future if you want, but raided raptors are very nice.

SYMLINK/JUNCTION WOW

It really is 10000% worth the effort of figuring out how to use symbolic (junction) links in XP/Vista to have "one" real directory of WoW and 5, 10, 20, whatever linked directories.

its because Windows is smart enough to know about symlinked files and correctly map in virtual memory space. When you run multiple physical folders of WoW it thrashes the drive, whether its SSD or SATA, constantly reading from all over the place. When symlinked it only has to read from one spot and the rest are just "pointed" to the first one in memory.

I have 10 WoW directories symlinked on a SATA drive, and the DATA\ and INTERFACE\ folder on a 64GB SSD drive ($100 from NewEgg after rebate), and my hard drive usage is nearly zero when I have 5 wow's running. of course you'll want Vista64 and 8GB of RAM so that there is no page swapping occuring as well.
