Yeah, it's really sad as this addon came out right when I started MBoxing. I can't imagine life without it. Hopefully someone will cast rez on it if he doesn't come back.Quote:

Is this the same Smurfy who designed Super Inspect???
What needs work on it?
If I get lucky enough to get a beta invite (through random drawing or wowinterface) I'll end up taking a look, I really like the functionality this provides.
I can't guarantee anything though, I'm not a very good coder/scripter XD
How do you open the options for MB?
/mb, the Ace addons options button or the FuBar menu.
Cant find the option to move from in the middle. Got IT! Alt Click :D
I have been honing a series of plugins for my addon as well for some time, working more to pitbull integration for a custom party frame of sorts and a candybars cooldown for the 9 characters (pets are ppl too) all on one screen (DOT uptime FTW). To show compass direction, follow state, focus working, etc. I adjust cameras during / out of combat / mounted / during aoe / after certain debuffs (eg, fear).Quote:

Implementing a loot filter like code (to leave quest items unlooted by the main toon) would be cool. Some annoying quests where I pickup items i cannot use that are BoP, that can still be looted by others are quite annoying.
I've got a feature request
For those who multibox, but do so with a varying group, rewriting macros could get to be a huge pain in the ass. I don't know if this is possible but would it be doable to implement some sort of multiboxing macro management into this addon. For example. A macro such as this.
/target [target=Brain, nodead, help, exists]; [target=Toon2, nodead, help, exists]; [target=Toon3, nodead, help, exists]; [target=Toon4, nodead, help, exists]; [target=Brain, exists]
/follow
The addon would rewrite the macro with the names of all the slaves and mains to represent the characters currently in the group. Maybe even a placeholder could be put in and upon forming the group, any pertinent addons would prompt the lead character to input which toon names should go where in each addon. It could even implement a system taking into account roles such as healer, tank, dps1, dps2, etc.
hey, i know the development is currently stalled,
i am still new to multiboxing and shortly after starting multiboxing i started playing AoC :)
now i'm back in WoW but currently playing only my Main and my Multiboxing accounts a frozen.
but i think i will get back to multiboxing aswell.
a and by the way if you have "new" feature requests feel free to add them to the wiki (link in my sig)
smurfy
I certainly don't have problems! not anymore, not since finding out about Multiboxer v2. :)
I'm a new wow multi-boxer. I was interested in multi-boxing wow a week ago(after too long dual and triple boxing EQ,EQII, and DAoC), and the new RAF program made me leap at the opportunity to 5-box. I'm starting off small, however, and i'm 3-boxing first(Although I did run out and get four copies of wow battlechest, hhehe. best buy had it on sale for 29.99). I have a beefy quad-core pc and have all 3 clients running on one box flawlessly. My problem WAS(and stress "was") that sometimes combat would not end all the time for all 3 characters, and often autofollow would not resume after combat. I was upset, and pretty much resolved myself to manually taking my crew out of combat and hiting my autofollow key(using keyclone).
Multiboxer fixed both those problems. no idea what caused my autoattack lock issue, but I haven't had it since I installed multiboxer. I'm still learning the ropes, and I have a lot to learn both about multiboxing and about wow in general. I played wow off and on with a single account since the stress test weekends in 2004, but ultimately moved on to EQ2. I don't regret the move, but i'm finding it far more exciting now playing wow with a full team at my disposal than I ever did in eq2 dual-boxing.
As to the demise of multiboxer, I'll fight tooth and nail to prevent that. I have a past in coding, although currently I'm working a job out of the computer field so my skills aren't being upkept. I never did program in LUA, but have experience in python, VB/VBS, C/C++, and java. I might be willing to contribute to furthuring multiboxer if there is a need, if smurfy doesn't step back. :)

note: after posting I saw your post smurfy. :) offer stands open if you or anyone needs help coding for the forseeable future. I took some time to play AoC. I am a huge Robert E. Howard fan, and a big fan of conan. I was really excited about the game and absolutely LOVED the game world, combat mechanics, and all the fantastic art detail at launch. I was playing very happily for several weeks, until funcom started their gestapo-esk regime of bi-weeky nerfs and they redefined many of the classes. I played a ToS and was in agreement I was overpowered. by the time I quit I went from being able to solo clear a camp of 9 mobs to not being able to take on two without nearly dying. So much for the concept of an AoE healer. :P So I left. I opted for a better solution to my mmo needs, and found myself playing on an old school private EQ server for a week. then I came back to WoW. hehe. I think the RAF promotion will keep me easily for the 90 day triple xp bonus, which takes us into WotLK, which should keep me longer. looks like I"M BACK. :)
Hey Smurfy,
Good to have you back. Was getting worried :)
If/When Multiboxer breaks for WotLK; hopefully you'll be around and willing to fix it. I have access to the beta if you want it tested btw. Problem is I have only account to mess around with.
Even though it has an ugly gray box for it's background :) I like this addon. I love the auto-accept functions of it more than anything. It is nice to be able to 'share quest' and it just gets shared and you can see it update right there in the quest window. In the event suggestions are considered I would like to suggest adding a function that will let you abandon quests across all toons. I am lately finding I pick up a lot of quests and with RAF level so quick I end up having a huge mess to clean up. It would be nice to be able to abandon a quest from the main and ask you if you want to abandon it from the group as well. Not sure if that is even possible but I was thinking about that the other day when my quest logs seem to be in a constant full state.
I second that request - I would love to have the option to mass abandon a quest!
Also, being able to change the transparency/size of the gray window would be great.
Thanks for this addon - it is excellent!

Glad you are back. Just wanted to offer you my help with development. I've been starting to get into addons to do something very similar to what your's does. While I'm just ramping up on WoW addon writing, I'm a Software Engineer so I'm confident I'll be up to speed quickly. Just let me know if you are cool with help and I can look at getting some of the new features in.

Souca - good to see another Seattle-ite here :)
Do you work at the big M as well? (Evil Empire, that is)...
I just want to take a moment to thank you for this add on. I love it. Keep up the good work. :)
Ha. No, I used to work at the big A (sweatshop IMHO) and now I work at the big D, but most people don't even know D is here >.<Quote:

I updated the wiki with a few of the latest suggestions.
I'm too lazy to go back through the whole thread and document them all though. :P
Another one: bring back the old "auto accept escort quest" option. Current system doesn't work for those. It accepts them fine but the 4 alts don't get credit. 100% reproducable.Quote:

I wanted a transparent background. I went into MultiBoxer.lua and changed line 1121 from
f:SetBackdrop({ bgFile = "Interface\\Tooltips\\UI-Tooltip-Background", tile = true, tileSize = 16})
To:
f:SetBackdrop({ bgFile = "", tile = true, tileSize = 16})
I made a few font changes and dumped some text all together.
I use an eepanels like mod for backgrounds now.
I know next to nothing about LUA and addon developement in general but it seems to work.
Make sure you back up the orginal addon folder incase you need to restore it.
You can mess around with Width and Height around Line 1051 and 1052.
I use Notepad++ to edit the file it formats it nicely and numbers the rows.
He has included the download link in the first post.Quote:

I am guessing this could be my own unique problem but is anyone having issues with not being able t re-located multiboxer's window? No matter if I have it locked or unlocked, I can't get it to move.
have you tried pressing ALT?
I really thought I had but I'm a moron. Thanks for the tip that I am a moron for not figuring out.
Okay, so I wanted a couple features and added them in. If smurfy gives his okay I'll release the version I have once I add a few more cosmetic things for myself. Here's a screenshot, it's not much... basically you can change the color via the gui and show/hide xp and xp percent, and I consolidated some display options in the settings page.

I think I'm going to add a border or something, and next is probably a transparency option. Smurfy, if you see this, PM me, I can just give you the changes I've made, if you're still developing this addon.

I'm gonna be working on questing code for my addon this weekend. If I get a solution for abandoning a quest on all characters I will be sure to share it for Multiboxer if Smurfy is still working on it. I'll also take a peek at escort quests, but I don't have this problem for some reason.Quote:

As far as I can tell the current "shared quests" system accepts the escort quest ok; i.e. it shows up in their quest log. However they don't get credit when the quest is over. The main does however. I think it's because the 4 alts accept the quest a split-second after the main does, and the quest guy usually started his I'm-walking-off-now routine by then.
However if I start the escort quest on just the main, the "X is starting Escort Quest Y" prompt pops up on the alts. And I can just accept those by using the accept-all macro.
Older versions of Multiboxer just auto-accepted those. Current version doesn't.
Problem occurs on every single escort quest. Can reproduce it 100% (if I find an escort Q that is). Happens for me and the other multiboxers on my server. Not a huge issue but annoying when you have to do the escort walk all over again.
good to see some dev on this :) I mentioned this before but I would really like toggable auto follow after combat even if it's just a script line like /script mb follow off. The prob I have is that in instances with the combat follow on somehow the alts get the idea that I'm not in combat even when I am and so follow the brain even after only killing 1 mob, this has caused a couple of wipes. I know I could go to each screen and toggle it manually at the start of an instance but I'm lazy :) plus it is the kind of thing you want to turn off and on quickly
Ooh, that would be great indeed.Quote:

Haven't heard from smurfy yet, I'll just get a clean version together and post it for you guys to play with, hopefully within the week.
I've pretty much decided that I'm going to start dev on my own addon. I know MB does a lot of the things already, but I think its good to have variety and we can all steal ideas from each other anyway >.< I'm keeping a list of things to do, and I don't think these will be that difficult to accomplish. Honestly I think the biggest thing for me will be spending time writing code instead of playing.Quote:

I've added the ability to see xp #'s and %'s as values and modify the color of the boxes and such with the gui. I'm working on some command line options as well. I threw a screenshot up above. Gonna do some cosmetic options too, options are always good.Quote:

Those changes look great. Hopefully you can share that with us or Smurfy will incorp. it into the official version. I love the idea of a toggle auto follow.
i also have issues with shared escort type quest not being auto accepted on slaves.
Can you make it so the addon can be loaded per char? Instead of on or off per account?
Is anyone else experiencing a lot of Taint from this addon? I'm having what seems to be an excessive number of entries in my Taint log. Does this cause any overhead? I've included just one minute from the log. I assume this is triggering on Combat since I almost always see the message as soon as I go into Combat. Is there anything that can be done to fix the taint?

Yeah it taints a lot. I just ignore it after the warning message. Everything seems to be working ok.
Hey Guys,
Got to say I love this addon. I was thinking of a feature request but I am not sure if it is posible. Basically you know how we always have issues with specific group healing and the positions of party members etc. Well I was thinking, is it posible to store the party members of the "Leader" as global variables, or whatever the term is, and share them with the slaves.
EG.
p1=Razor1=Master
p2=Razor2
etc. This way you have the ability to party heal according to the display order of the party on the Master. You could then use p1 p2 etc in macro's.
Is it posible to do this?

Not sure I get the jist. You can already target based on Party numbers. The leader is always party1 and the rest fall in line in the order they were invited in the group. I have a simple /invite macro that invites in the same order each time as long as I am attentive to the party order I could target based on party numbers. In the mod readme I believe there is a /script for assigning party1 on the fly. I have not tried it though.Quote:
