Ya whats your video card?
I'm using a GTX 480 and a Radeon HD 4970. Latest drivers as of were available Saturday just gone.
Due to framerate in the BG, Ultra @1920x1200 all round, I put the settings down to good, good, good, good + ultra on my main - same res.
I can stand outside the AH and spin round so smoothly.. it's so much better than it was before.
So you have two monitors with one video card going to the main and the other video card going to a tiled set of 4?
Which card is the main on while spinning? Although its smooth are you at 60fps or 30fps?
Whats the SSD?
80gb Intel X-25M SSD
Two monitors, 24inch main and 22inch secondary. The GTX480 is hooked up to the main, the secondary has four tiled and is running on the HD4870.
I thought it might be better to run the secondary with the GTX480 - but as soon as I swapped the monitors around it ran sluggish. I didn't investigate I just switched back :)
I'll have to come back to you about FPS.
I was mining last night, main on 60 fps whilst the the slaves were stood in stormwind.
Ahh 1.5G on the 480 vs. 1G on the 4870 (plus the 480 is better anyways) so that would explain the loss when swaped out.
And the 480 is only running a single client, with 1.5G no wonder its no lag.
I need to look up sandybridge more and see if the same thing can be gotten with the X58 / i7 boards.
Looks like for people with one computer running two video cards in a 1main 4tiled is the way to go.
Thanx lots of good infos there dancook.
Well I get 30fps spinning after things stabilize with a single client 1920 X 1200 on ultra in front of the org AH with a 1G 460; so you should get 60fps with your better system (mine is 3.2G Athlon X2 / nvidia590mb). I also have an amazing 24ms ping.
If you physically switched which video card each monitor was plugged into, that would remove the sluggishness from swapping main on one card and four alts on the other.
Of course it would then be sluggish the way you're running it now.
Vista/Win7 loses performance when you render on a monitor that is plugged into a different video card, but if they're both plugged into the same card then you can swap fine.
