You mean you didn't use THIS method? Basicly kill the dragon while he's still in the air.
You pull the 2 sentry mobs all the way back up to the top of the ramp.
When you kill them the rider will be dropped in the middle of the platform below, allowing you to sneak down along the edges and with the help of grounding totems, nuke the Dragon before he descends :P
